Hi everyone, thanks for joining us here on News 12.
Before we get to our hyper-local headlines,
it's been a busy day weather-wise.
It sure has. Skyler's here with the latest for you.
Marissa and Kevin, we have a lot to track over the next several hours.
We have those strong storms that are going to be pushing through,
bringing with it rain, wind, and lightning chances.
Now these storms do have the potential to be severe.
We're keeping a watch on that as we progress throughout
the rest of the next few hours.
It'll die down the more we head into tonight.
But this is riding in on a cold front
that's going to usher in much colder air.
Coldest air of the season is on the way.
It starts tonight into tomorrow,
but we have to get through these nasty storms before we get there.
In terms of what we're tracking, the potential
for scattered severe weather in our borough.
My main concern is going to be the wind,
both the straight-lined wind and the rotating wind,
which means, yes, there is the possibility to have a tornado.
Is it a guarantee? No.
But we're going to keep an eye on all of this because
that wind has the potential to be destructive.
40, 50, 60 miles per hour can impact power and tree branches.
We're heading into peak commuting time as well,
so all of that is problematic.
So we're going to continue to monitor this as this pushes through.
A reminder that the wind is going to stay here even after
the rain clears out, and it's going to be cold.
