We're going to cover all things Milwaukee Brewers
for you the next four hours here on Fox 6 Now.
We're going to get to chat with some city leaders
as well throughout the show.
So actually, we want to start things off
by welcoming Fire Chief Aaron Lipsky onto the show for Fox 6 Now.
I would say you're double victorious
because not only are the Milwaukee Brewers headed to the World Series,
you won yourself a little bet.
I did. I did.
Myself and Chief Moore from the city of L.A. engaged
in some friendly banter, and as it turns out, we won.
So now I get to lightly shame him for the loss by having him wear
this fire helmet, which has the Milwaukee Brewers logo on it,
indicated as the champions.
But also, I see him wear this Milwaukee Fire Department
t-shirt, which you might notice is a little undersized.
Yeah, it looks kind of like a kid's size there.
Tomato, tomato.
Okay, when we saw that you had kind of invited him
to participate in this wager, we loved the idea.
How did you come up with it to kind of say,
let me throw this out on social media, let's see if he's game?
Well, full disclosure, this was actually his idea.
Really?
It was, but a little slow on getting going.
And after we just crushed them in the games, he called me and he goes,
this doesn't look right if I challenge you to this right now.
And I said, I understand we are doing really, really well right now.
And so I said, I'll kick it off
and then you respond and back and forth.
and the great news is uh we've we've we've got
a side bet going that uh deals with getting some
money donated to charity and uh
so we'll do a little reveal on that because it's all in it's
all with uh nothing but good humor in mind
and it might as well help out you know yeah absolutely
let me ask you this were you nervous at all
when this idea was kind of first coming about in
conversations to say yes
because obviously we all we all watched the NLCS last year we all would
love to forget it and now we have the opportunity too
because we've rewritten history here but
knowing you know the last two times these these teams met
in the postseason it was a sweep for
the Dodgers were you nervous at all to say let's do it
or were you always game I gotta tell you
a little bit nervous because it can always go one way
or the other but there's something
different about this year's team there's there's
a different energy uh the contributions are coming
from so many different players you have
your you know your your long time like seasoned uh
Christian Yelich and then you've got other people
that aren't as easily recognized uh as as just
common household names who are just shining
and contributing and i think when you have more people
doing better uh chances go up
and that i think the Brewers just proved that yeah obviously you
were thrilled with the results because of the bet
but besides that i mean what were your reactions
last night watching or at least learning
of the Brewers defeating the Dodgers completing the sweep
and officially going to the World Series
for the first time in 44 years i gotta tell you i had a
heck of a night last night uh my wife
and i were driving back to Illinois having watched our
daughter just win with UW-Milwaukee's volleyball team against NIU.
And we were driving back
listening to this in the car
and probably not recommended for safe driving habits. But
the number of times we had to high five
and we were hooting and hollering and screaming in the
car listening. And right when we were getting near home,
boy oh boy, that final out, we went bonkers.
It was, what a great night.
Yes, I think it's a night
that so many people will truly remember forever.
There's something about core memories
and then being associated with sports that they just stick with you.
And this again, it just, it completely erases what happened last year.
And now we get to have this such better memory in its place,
knowing we're going to the World Series,
knowing what it means just for the city, that everyone is excited.
excited. It's electric right now in Milwaukee.
And I guess my next question for you, we don't
know who yet, but are you going
to be making maybe another bet with another fire chief come
the World Series? Well, it's an interesting question.
I have already started to do research
and then it occurred to me, one of my very good friends,
a fellow member, Barbara Tripp is the
chief of the Tampa Fire Department.
And I would just love to go head to head. Should Tampa be
lucky enough to get into this uh if if if Tampa Bay
is not the team we're going to Cleveland well
then we'll we'll deal with that when it comes i would love
to play against Tampa yeah and i think
we would love to get to see yet another fire helmet like
this maybe instead of National League
champions world series champions having
to be on the head of another fire chief it would look
just absolutely beautiful do you have any predictions
for the world series how you think
this is gonna go it's hard when we don't know
who we're playing yet but i also think we have a lot
of faith in this team i gotta tell you what
if you look at the number of times the opposing team
has had runners on third that we have shut them down you look
at the number of times we've had
bouts sometimes two strikes on the batter who's up
and we have pulled the rabbit out of the hat
i think our chances are excellent no matter
who we play i think we're going all the way this year
I think the other thing just
so impressive about this squad is they don't mind the comeback.
So many teams, you know, they get flustered when they're down in runs.
And what are we going to do?
And the Brewers almost thrive off of it.
I mean, down four runs last night.
They weren't worried.
They came back and got six.
It's so impressive.
They almost look comfortable in those moments.
Yeah.
They look comfortable.
And their coach is cool as a cucumber.
Murph is just sitting there like he's just watching,
you know, the leaves change color.
And because he knows they've got that Milwaukee
and that Wisconsin grit.
They have that real core team ethos.
They're going to crush it.
And they have every time.
I think we're going all the way.
I love to hear it.
I know our viewers love to hear it.
There's just something about this squad, something about this year.
I think we're going to see some more history come along,
and hopefully we see some more bets placed by you
and some more victories headed your way as well.
Chief Lipski, thank you
so much for taking a few minutes to join us here on Fox 6 Now.
Thank you.
And can't wait to see L.A. having
to rep all of that lovely Brewer's gear.
Again, it just feels that much better
after what happened to us last year.
Truly, it's the best thing to see.
