Taking a look at wellness shots,
a tiny shot could pack a powerful punch.
Yes, and we have Amanda Sweeney.
She is here with us today,
founder and keeper of The Bees over at Edgewood Apiary.
She's here now to show us how to make some,
and I'm so glad that you're here.
Everybody's sneezing and snuffling.
A lot of medicinal properties to what you brought here as well.
All of the herbs and the vegetables that are fermented
in the apple cider vinegar are really important
to easily get the nutrients into your body.
that it needs to protect you during all the seasonal transition.
Immunity boosters.
Absolutely.
I love what you said earlier.
Food is medicine, and it absolutely can be,
especially with the ingredients that you have here.
Let's start with what is fire cider?
All right.
It is just like I said a second ago.
Think of it very simply as that pantry staple
that you need of fermented cider.
Think of it like a wellness shot.
A very easy way to take that small step to get
those nutrients into your body first thing in the morning.
So you have a little shot set up right here.
This is herbs and honey.
We've got berries and florals.
And then if you'd like to pack a punch, a little heat.
Okay, talk about why the fermentation aspect of this is so important
when it comes to getting the nutritious value.
It's just going to pull that fermentation process,
pulls all the minerals and the vitamins into that cider vinegar,
and just makes for a really simple way to get it into your body.
Okay, we're going to try some as well.
You can also put this on a salad.
I mean, you can use it in a multitude of ways.
Yes, lots of different ways.
All right, so let's go.
I'm ready.
Which one should I try?
I think you said you liked some punch.
I do.
So let's go with a bit of heat
and honey that's going to have cayenne, horseradish, ginger.
Is this the fire cider?
And then this is the fire.
This is the fire.
And then this is herbs and honey.
Okay, herbs and honey.
So no fire, but still the cider.
So just a different personality.
And it's tasty.
I like it a lot.
Thank you.
I like this one, too, because the honey makes it easier to go down,
and it adds a little bit of sweetness
to the tanginess from the vinegar.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
Which one is this one?
That is, I'm sorry, the berries and florals
also packed in with a little honey.
And so a really easy way to take that,
we've got it set up right here as a little bit of a mocktail.
If you can just mix that.
You can make it.
Yeah, right through this.
So here's your fire cider going in, your sparkling water.
And the cool thing about the honey
that we're drinking right now, you're a beekeeper.
I am.
So this is extra fresh honey that we're getting this morning.
Just talk about what that's like
and having that high-quality honey to add to this.
So, you know, raw natural honey is really great for your body.
Also packed full of antioxidants, nutrients that your body needs,
lots of amazing enzymes, good for digestion,
good for protecting your histamine response to the seasonal changes.
So right here we have a little bit of a mocktail.
Who's up?
I just tried this one, so I'm going to let you have that one.
I kind of cheated.
I actually see this on a salad.
It's like a vinaigrette kind of.
Absolutely.
Absolutely. So with this one,
you've got the turmeric blended in with elderberry and hibiscus.
Some cloves. I taste some cinnamon in here. Yes, absolutely.
Good. Thank you. Okay, I can make this at home.
So if you want to make this every day, would you recommend
just one glass a day or you can drink as many as possible?
Yeah. I don't think that it's possible to like overdose.
We're talking about a really amazing supplement isn't really
a good word for it.
It's more just like a staple that you can blend into your life.
We don't want it to be a supplement.
We want it to be just a basic way to get those vitamins
and minerals into your daily diet.
And it can also just prevent those colds
and all the things that come at us during cold and flu season.
It has amazing properties for that.
And so in terms of the salad, all we have here is super, super simple.
we've got the greens mixed up with a little tomato
because I think tomatoes
go in almost everything
and then we're just gonna go back to that herbs and
honey vinaigrette I have to try
your vinaigrette I just had tomatoes yesterday with
regular vinegar a little bit of salt
and pepper I think this is definitely take
it up a notch Yeah the only thing that we put on this is the salt
and olive oil and then you
are welcome to give that a try right there okay I feel like I'm in your
kitchen right in a way all I mean the product should
be in your kitchen that's the whole point
is to really in it just let it be that pantry staple
or for you know for my home it sits right
next to the honey that's sitting right next
to my coffee machine it's just always there yeah and
easy to grab and this is such a simple simple way to do it yourself
and you can't remember the last
time you had a cold no I don't think there's
a solution for that berries honey I mean it's just
we need this this triple threat it
is this for this season lots of protection awesome sauce
thanks for coming thank you thank you
