Okay, Jessica, we got an update on this horrific,
which is now a horrific crime at this point.
What are we hearing?
So it has been ruled a homicide,
and overnight we have learned that the mother of this child
has been arrested and charged with murder.
This is her right here?
This is her right here, five-year-old Fabiana Cabello.
Look at her right there.
Her grandfather shared these photos with us.
Her mother, 32-year-old Frances Cabello,
was arrested and charged with murder.
this is just a horrific,
tragic crime that took place on Wednesday night.
We are told that the mother actually confessed to the murder.
She was the one that placed that 911 call.
And sources are telling us that when she called the operator,
she told the operator that she killed her five-year-old daughter.
And so we got this story yesterday.
The reports that we had were that there was a child
who died inside the home.
at that point they were still looking
into the possibility that there was some criminality
involved and now this accusation comes
and then we have this other piece of video this surveillance
video here this is from a nearby home
which actually shows the police response that evening
that Wednesday evening around seven o'clock police
and there you're seeing police holding the child
getting her into the NYPD vehicle rushing
her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead and
there appears to be the mom possibly the mom
because you can see that the NYPD is putting
someone in cuffs there they have not confirmed
if that is where the arrest was made and if that's
her but it appears to be a woman as you can see placed
in handcuffs there and we spoke to the
grandfather we spoke to the grandfather what did he say about
this whole situation so he gave us
some insight of what was happening inside that home
so they all lived in that home together the
grandma the grandfather the child
and the mother he told us that his daughter was suffering from
mental illness that she three months ago
was hospitalized for about a month but after being
released from the hospital she was off her medication
so he was at the home at the time
of this alleged killing he says he
was in his bedroom didn't hear anything until police showed
up to the house so we
also heard from the uncle last night uh he talks about Fabiana just how
happy she was okay and how the family's
in disbelief it's very shocking and sad you know
can you describe her for us she's
a very beautiful girl you know she's joyful she keep my my mom and
dad happy all day you know they're old
and she she's very she gives you a nice hug you know she
was very happy girl. We are heartbroken.
Everybody's heartbroken, you know? I thought
we learned about it last night when it came.
I mean, in a sense, there's no other way to put
it, heartbroken. So we have this mother who's been arrested,
this child who's died, a family
that's broken. Do we know what happens next for the mother?
So we are now waiting for the
district attorney's office, the Queen's DA's office.
We actually reached out to them this
morning asking where the mother is, right?
Because we don't know now if she is in police custody at
police precinct or call police they they couldn't verify
or if she's at the hospital remember she
was admitted before for a month sure
so hoping to hear more from the DA's office at some point
obviously there's going to be a criminal complaint
at some point as well probably learn more details
because what happened in that house right
that evening we don't know we know that when the police
arrived the child was unconscious unresponsive bleeding
from the mouth and the nose so the
medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
And we're waiting for that as well.
All right, Jessica, thank you very much.
