3 children and teacher killed in Oregon elementary school shooting

Welcome back here. So we continue talking about this shooting in Oregon that's left three children and a teacher dead. A town there is grieving after a teenager opened fire here. So Amalia Roy is live with more on that attack. We want to get to this here. Amalia, good morning. What do we know about this situation? Hi, Liz. So right now there's still police tape right outside of the school here. We know the ages of the three children who were killed in this attack, five, eight and 11 years old. We don't know the age of the teacher who was killed yet. And then there are two more people, a seven year old and 54 year old who are in the hospital with critical injuries. No community should have to do what we're doing right now. I don't have any words for what this community is feeling right now. And I don't think anyone does. We are heartbroken. We are horrified. This is the kind of thing you hear about in other places and pray that it never happens here. Bend police says the first 911 call came around one o'clock Thursday someone outside Silver Rail Elementary School saying someone with a long gun was shooting at them. Then more calls followed from inside the school. Police arrived minutes later and found the suspect, a 16 year old Ben resident dead inside the school, saying the attacker shot at the locked doors to get into the building. But then a bystander saw the suspect go into the school, followed him, then shot and killed him shortly before authorities arrived. Yesterday, Governor Tina Kotek thanked the Good Samaritan who stopped the attack. And to the community member who heroically intervened to stop further loss of life, your actions carry a heavy emotional burden and I just want you to know that my thoughts are with you as well. We don't know the connection the suspect had to the school or if any, but we do know that federal authorities are telling Fox that he carried out the attack with a shotgun. In Bend, Oregon, Amalia Roy, Fox Chicago. I'll see you next time.
