Warren Moon on Sam Darnold's Play & Klint Kubiak's Exit

Warren, how much do they miss Clay Kubiak, you think, in the play calling there? Because, again, a lot of things, anytime you miss a play caller, maybe Sam Darnold's missed him a little bit too. How much do you think they miss Clay Kubiak as the offensive coordinator? Well, I think you always, I think Brian has come in and done a great job for them. If you look at their offense, you don't see a whole lot of difference in what they were doing last year. It's just that they're not as effective running the ball because they don't have the personnel. I think Sam, because he was with San Francisco for a couple of years, he knows Brian. And when Brian came over here, it wasn't like they didn't know each other and they hadn't worked together. So I think Brian kind of knows what Sam likes and vice versa. And I think he's incorporating those things into the game plan. But you have to have all your bullets for your gun in order to be successful. And once they get all those bullets, I think they'll be fine. How do you think Sam has played so far this year? You know, Warren, He is the most successful quarterback when it comes to wins and losses in the last three years when it comes to starts. And he has just been a big-time winner here. How do you think he's played so far in the early part of the season? I know he had an injury early part of the season here. Maybe that's played a little bit into it too. But how do you think Darnold's played so far this year? I think he's played pretty good. He hasn't played as well as he's played at times last year. And the big thing is he's turned the ball over. He's turned the ball over a little bit more early in this season than you would like for your quarterback to do that. And he started out games doing it early where he throws a pick almost sometimes on his first pass of the ball game. So he's got to get off to a better start that way and take care of the ball. Other than that, he's playing pretty good.
