A legendary carrot cake. Swift Carrot Cake and other Zelda Breath of the Wild elements are property of Nintendo. Here's how you make it.
What You Need: 1/2 cup sugar, separated 5 egg yolks 5 egg whites 1/3 cup plus 2 tbl flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 carrot 1/3 cup carrot juice 1/3 cup canola oil 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 TSP of salt 1/4 TSP nutmeg
Cream Cheese carrots: 2 TBL butter, softened 2 oz cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup powdered sugar 1 drop gel food color http://amzn.to/2rVSWX9 1 drop orange gel food color http://amzn.to/2rVSWX9
Preheat oven to 320 degrees. In a large bowl, whisk together egg whites until they form soft peaks. Sprinkle on 1/4 cup of your sugar and whip to stiff peaks. Set aside.
In another bowl, whisk together egg yolks and remaining sugar until mixture is light in color and reaches the “ribbon” stage (see video). Whisk in oil. Grate in one carrot. Whisk in carrot juice. Set aside.
In a small bowl sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Add sifted ingredients to egg yolks and mix until just combined. Fold in egg whites carefully. A few white streaks are fine, don’t overbeat it. Pour into a chiffon pan and bake for 35-45 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow to cool completely upside down (chiffon pans usually have little lifters for this)
Cream Cheese carrots: in a small bowl, whisk together butter and cream cheese. Sift on confectioners sugar and whisk until smooth. Put 1/3 of your frosting in a bowl, and the rest in another. Dye the small portion green and the large portion orange.
Apply carrots along the center of the cake. Slice and serve.
This video provides a step-by-step guide to baking a \"legendary\" carrot cake. The process involves creating a light chiffon-style sponge using whipped egg whites and yolks, incorporating fresh carrots and juice, and finishing the cake with a colorful cream cheese frosting piped to look like carrots.
I present, a legendary carrot cake?
First, whip up some egg whites
in a clean bowl until they reach soft peaks.
You can use an electric mixer, but I don't mind the extra work out.
They should look like this.
Now sprinkle on some sugar, and whip until you get nice stiff peaks.
Ooh, shiny.
Set them aside.
Now whisk some egg yolks
with some sugar until they're light and ribbony.
Like this.
It's called the ribbon stage if you can believe it.
Whisk in some oil, and then grate on a carrot.
See it's gonna be healthy, kinda. Whisk in some carrot juice.
Now sift some flour, baking powder, salt, and a little nutmeg.
Add it to your egg
yolks until it's just combined. Don't over beat it. Fold in your
reserved egg whites and carefully fold.
Now pour it into a 7 inch chiffon cake
pan and bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until it's golden brown,
like this. Flip it upside down
and stand it up on those, you know, those little
stands that the pan has on it. Cool! Once it's cool, run a sharp knife
along the edges. Careful, you might have to run it along the top too.
Ta-da! It's free. Now whip up
some butter and a little cream cheese.
Sift on some powdered sugar. Mmm, frosting. We're gonna
dye a third of it green and the rest of it orange.
Put them in Ziploc bags and put them in the fridge
for at least an hour. Now you can pipe on some carrots.
See, no special training needed. Anyone
can do carrots, even an idiot like me.
Now you can slice and serve. Why yes, I do think it's weird
that it's called Swift and it took all day to make.
It's worth it though. Yummy.
