Rangers make SURPRISING move... This has SERIOUS implications | NYR News

After one of the hottest starts to a season that we've seen in recent memory, the Rangers have made multiple changes to their lineup that are, quite frankly, a little weird and have Rangers fans absolutely livid. But not only that, we have multiple other updates on the Rangers, some great performances, and there is one thing in particular they need to look out for as they head forward here. Yes, it's been a great start to the season, and yes, Igor is injured, There's a big test for Dylan Garan, but there's one thing in particular that will make or break this team. coming back into the lineup They are statistically not great with Matt Rempe in the lineup And he's coming in for Hemelosh so myself and most rangers fans are not very happy this morning this is a bad morning you know i'm all for opportunity i'm all for giving matt rempe some opportunity and head coach mike sullivan did speak out earlier this season and say hey matt rempe is going to get some opportunities here depending on the matchup depending who we're playing if it's the bruins if the lightning like tonight he's going to get an opportunity and he comes in for hamilash and he was skating as an extra this morning with Scott Morrow so Matt Rempe is a very interesting case this season he's coming off last season where he completely mangled his thumb couldn't fight he couldn't stick handle he couldn't do anything that made him effective before in playing his game and I'm betting on Matt Rempe to be better this season I am it doesn't mean that I think he should be in the no real change uh especially for the last little while i mean you cannot take Panikhin off that second line it just literally would not make sense anymore he's an absolute dog on the puck um and Rempe Rempe is going to slide in here on the fourth line with Bjorkstrand and Holtzl heading into tonight's game big rematch with the Tampa Bay Lightning from just you know a little while ago so that is a and that was a big game for the Rangers too that was kind of a statement game that I think that's the game that kind of again a statement game that kind of let the league know oh the Rangers are back right and I think that also not just for the players not just for the rest of the league but for Rangers fans oh the Rangers are back I feel like it was that type of of game so Rempe coming in too and you can see like he's the type of guy that he does offer something right when you look at last season um it was a tough season for him we know he's a guy that likes to hit right he likes to drop the gloves he gets his team in the game and these are all things that were kind of taken away from him last season so he's out there trying to prove something and i'm just hoping that he doesn't put somebody through the boards trying to prove whatever that is so um and he's cleaned it up since that suspension in Dallas he's really cleaned it up so we will see exactly uh you know what he brings to the table but only one point last season he had eight points a couple seasons ago we know what he brings to the table right and he's played obviously that first game against Boston this year where nothing happened so not much going on for Matt Rempe so far this season we'll see what he brings to the table later tonight now speaking of later tonight they've also made some other moves Pavel Dvorovs returns to power play one now you might be thinking to yourself when did he ever leave power play one well power play one now looks like this at practice Fox Zibanejad Miller Lafreniere and Dvorovs but in last game uh they moved Gabe Perreault up because he's been playing so well and he's actually been putting up some points there on power play too when he's had the opportunity with that group on power play too so he's going to get an opportunity to get back on power play one because again from Wally Walker at some point uh you know in the last game he was moved up to power play when Gabe Perreault this is Dvorovs uh moved down to start that third period so i think that's pretty interesting it was also working right so they moved him back i think that's an interesting storyline heading into tonight what does that power play one look like right like if it's not going do you make a change again that is pretty interesting to me to see how that kind of progresses because again Gabe Rose has been putting up points there on power play two you put him with power play one also putting up points it's it's hard to deny him but they they've made that change again i do wonder how short of a leash it is for Dorofeev which is crazy to say and a lot of people are dumping on Dorofeev this weekend he's gonna get going here guys he's gonna be it's gonna be fine it's gonna be fine i'm not worried about it yet there will be a time and a place for a video about it i'm sure but and hopefully it doesn't get to that point but hopefully we're talking about the opposite him absolutely ripping it up but i wonder how short the leash is here where Gabe Rose goes back on power play one because I don't know Gabe Rose has looked really good in that position he's looked really good you can see over the last little while you know uh this season Dorofeev has been shooting the puck he has been shooting he's been getting it to the net you can see in the last two games I mean he's been putting it to the net four shots on goal against the Washington Capitals he had two shots on goal the other night against Vancouver Canucks but maybe it's a little pedestrian maybe it's a little passive for Mike Sullivan maybe it's a little too pedestrian and passive for Rangers fans too right i i'm on the boat that he's going to figure it out and it's going to be just fine it's going to be okay but a lot of fans like to panic early season right so i think it's going to be fine he goes back on power play one we'll see what it looks like with him back on power play one i think this could turn into a bigger story and it's more because of uh Gabe Perrott it's more because of Gabe Perrott so and you can see on the special teams like they're trying to get some stuff going by the way Ranger special teams is year holy smokes looking pretty good uh sixth power play in the league seventh penalty kill in the league looking pretty good man five on five play they've been good special teams they've been good this team's looking pretty good i'm feeling very optimistic and fired up about them and trying not to think about Igor Shesterkin not returning for the year trying not to think about it every two seconds i i'm putting all my trust in Dylan Garan i'm putting all my trust In Dillon Garan And speaking of Dillon Garan He gets the nod again tonight Against the Tampa Bay Lightning Thought that was weird. again if you take a look at the schedule this one um not Doria take a look at the schedule for the next little while um the lightning tonight tall task devils easy win saturday blue jackets gonna be an interesting test there you have some games here and they're all spread out where there's no back-to-backs where Dylan Girard's gonna have his hands full he's gonna get a real big opportunity heading into november to either show that hey we're good or hey we absolutely need to make a trade so it's going to be very interesting and heading into this game against tampa bay lightning huge implications for the rangers they can jump back into first in the metropolitan division and tampa bay is currently tops of the atlantic division so this is going to be a really big game this is going to be very exciting you know tampa bay's real pissed about how they performed in the last game although the rangers performed very well in the last game too so again Dylan Gregorian first goalie off he'll start tonight that's going to be exciting to watch again big uh dylan grant truther over here but i am a little nervous for him because if anything falters a little bit the way that they've started this season i could see chris jerry going out and making a trade i could see it binnington as well it's jordan binnington there's other options there's john gibson but it's just jordan binnington is the cheapest option i think on the trade front so for a goalie that has experience and i feel like could do something pretty good with this team now grant still has by the way in three games this season a 945 he's had an insane save percentages entire NHL career granted it is a very small sample size in both seasons but he's I think ready for the challenge and I think they're going to give him the rock here they for a little while for the next couple games see what this looks like right because he's played three games so far this year I mean one of them was a half game came in relief for Igor but um you can see he's playing with a lot of confidence a lot of swagger in the net so I'm excited I'm excited for him a lot of this is also igor but their high danger scoring chance save percentage so far this season is very good as well really really good and some of it is Dylan Grant actually um but as we saw against the Vancouver Canucks you know he's starting to let in some goals if there is you know a situation where the defense does get exposed a little bit which is probably more likely against teams like Tampa Bay um then what does that look like so i think we're gonna see a real big test for Dylan Grant tonight and the Lightning know what's going on they know the situation and everything like that so we'll see what happens guys let me know in the comments how you feel about the game there's going to be a lot of storylines heading into this one like dorothea if you look at the last couple seasons uh versus Tampa Bay he likes to play the Tampa Bay Lightning so um and of course they don't play that often with him being in Vegas but he likes to play against Tampa Bay Lightning that's something to look out for another guy to look out for before we wrap up here Alexi Lafrenière on fire right the one thing and i talked about off the top of the video the one thing that will separate um or will define everything this season i should say is this rangers team needs to play just consistently like whatever that looks like and they have been so far i think it just needs to be consistent whatever it is so so far so good they've been doing that and their top players need to do the same thing and that is Alexis Lafrenière as well and so far he's been picking up the pace and he's putting together points and he's putting together good performances consistently and that is different for him because that's been his biggest problem in his entire NHL career.
