SCULTURA GRECA - Lo Stile Severo

March 8, 2026 – ROME
Greek sculpture underwent a transformation around 475 BC.
This marked the birth of the Severe Style, the phase of Greek art that signaled the transition from the Archaic period to the High Classical age. In this video, we explore:

– the end of the "Archaic smile"
– the technical revolution of the lost-wax bronze casting method
– the Charioteer of Delphi
– the Zeus of Cape Artemision
– the famous Riace Bronzes

Discover how the human body became more natural and realistic—while still retaining an idealized form—and how bronze allowed statues to open up into the surrounding space, creating an artistic language that would influence all of Western art.

A clear and engaging journey through 5th-century BC Greek sculpture, perfect for students, enthusiasts, and anyone wanting to truly understand art history.
