Back From Vacation & Mama Was NOT Happy to See Me 😔 | Dementia Emotions Are Real #fbf

After two weeks away on a much-needed vacation, I couldn’t wait to see Mama.
You’d think because she has dementia, she wouldn’t notice I was gone… but apparently, she did.

I flew over 30 hours and went straight to the facility from the airport — I didn’t even go home first.
And let me tell you… Mama was not having it. 😔

She pushed me away when I tried to hug and kiss her. No warm welcome. Just cutting up, attitude, and maybe… some hurt feelings under the surface.

Dementia is unpredictable like that. It may look like they don’t remember — but their spirit feels things.

The next day, I picked right back up with my caregiver duties:
🛍️ Got her snacks
🍧 Picked up some Rita’s Italian Ice
💇🏽‍♀️ Did her hair
🧺 Took her clothes home to wash

Because no matter what mood she’s in, she’s still my Mama — and this is still my journey.
