지난 16일(현지시간) 미국 의회 청문회에서 탈북민 데보라 최 씨가 “대북 정책의 중심에 인권을 놓아달라”고 호소했다.
2004년 탈북해 2006년 북한인권법에 따라 미국에 입국한 첫 탈북 난민 그룹 중 한 명인 최 씨는 “미국 생활에 적응하는 것이 쉽지는 않았지만, 북한과 중국에서 겪었던 일에 비하면 아무것도 아니었다”고 말했다.
