Switzerland Day 4: Lugano and the Midieval town of Morcote on the Italy Border

Yesterday was Day 4 in Switzerland and we headed South towards the Italy border.

We took a 1.5 hour train ride to the beautiful town of Lugano. Being so close to the Italian border, we immediately noticed a change in the accents and the language used. Zurich was heavy on the German accents and language, in Lucerne we noticed it's more of a Swiss dialect and Lugano was almost entirely Italian.

After a stop for cappuccino and some desserts, we headed for a roughly 1.5 hour boat ride along the Lago di Lugano. We actually crossed over into Italy along the way as one side of the lake is Italy and the other is Switzerland.

Our destination was the town of Morcote.

Morcote is a historic lakeside village on Lake Lugano in Ticino, Switzerland, known as the "Pearl of the Ceresio". It evolved from a medieval trading and fishing hub into a renowned community of artists and a modern tourist destination.

I was obsessed with the medieval homes, alleyways and cobblestone steps. I could have stayed here and explored and taken photos all day!

We had three hours to roam the streets and the alleys we enjoyed a lunch on the lake with Italy just off in the distance.

Today we pack up and leave Lucerne and we head for Wengen, which will be our home base for the next 7 days.
