Switzerland Day 1.5: Toronto - Zurich - Lucerne

Yesterday, I posted a short reel from days 1 and 2 in Switzerland here are some photos.

Jenny and I have made it to Switzerland!

I didn't sleep a wink on the 8 hour flight from Toronto to Zurich and my the time we had checked into our room, I had been awake for roughly 25 hours!

Today was our first full day, we started with an early morning walk through Old Town Zurich and enjoyed the 9am church bells with the churches towers reflecting on the Limmat River.

Then we took a train ride to visit the Lindt Home of Chocolate where free Lindt samples, Lindt Chocolate fountains and more are definitely worth the price of admission.

Next, it was a train to Lucerne where we spent the rest of the day.

We wandered around the train station then along the Reuss, across the Wasserturm Kapellbrücke bridge and through Old Town Lucerne.

The highlight for me was the Löwendenkmal, or the Lion Monument.

The Lion Monument, also known as the Lion of Lucerne, is a colossal rock relief carved into a sandstone cliff in Lucerne, Switzerland, that honors the Swiss Guards killed during the French Revolution. The lion looks tired and battle worn.

When Mark Twain visited the monument, he called it "the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world."

We are in Lucerne until Wednesday and then we head to Wengen for one week.
