We Spent The Whole Day Hiking the Swiss Mountains and Valleys

We started in Lauterbrunnen and took the cable car up to Grütschalp, then wandered the gentle path along the cliff edge to Mürren. Below us the valley dropped away, with the Alps rising on the far side. A ride up to Allmendhubel gave us an even bigger view, then we came back down to Mürren and set off on foot, winding down the mountainside toward Gimmelwald.
That stretch was pure storybook Switzerland. We passed weathered wooden chalets with flower boxes, and cows and goats grazing right beside the path, their bells clanking in the quiet. For most of the day we had the trail to ourselves, with only the odd local or fellow hiker nodding hello as they passed.
In Gimmelwald we stopped at the famous pension bar for drinks and lunch, a well-earned break in a car-free village that feels untouched by time. Afterward we rode the cable car down to Stechelberg and walked the whole valley floor back to Lauterbrunnen, with the cliffs towering on both sides and the day slowly winding down.
It was peaceful, unhurried and quietly spectacular, the kind of day where you forget to check your phone.
