NO EXCUSES for the Broncos...
Sep 13, 2026
This is the key to the Broncos success. The start of the Broncos season is upon us. I cannot wait
to talk about this. It feels surreal and we're already a couple of primetime games into the NFL
season and now all of a sudden there are real stakes, real things that are ahead of us. The
Chiefs are injured. The Broncos, we'll talk about in a second, are in a much better situation
injury-wise. As of right now, knocking on wood, I am not jinxing this. I'm wearing my penguin thing
right now in anticipation for Jalen Waddell's debut in Arrowhead. It could not get much better
than this. Make sure to subscribe. Be ready for that. The intent is to do a live stream of the
Broncos-Chiefs game. The nerves are there but there's also a bit of confidence and that has
worried me because I was very confident going into Super Bowl XLVIII. Did not work out too well for
us to say the least. I have managed expectations. I know it's probably going to be a bloodbath
like it was last year. It was a really tough game on Christmas when Patrick Mahomes wasn't even
playing. That should really set the standard. I know the Broncos are not going to be taking it
easy on him. I know Mahomes is just biting at the chomp, chomping his bits or whatever it is,
to get back on the field. We're going to be breaking down the game here and talking about
what we should be expecting going forward with this game. So, first things first,
the Broncos, we are good to go injury-wise. Literally, the only person who showed up on
the injury report was Marvin Mims and he has been participating, full participation in practice,
most of this week. So, I think we're chilling, guys. This has been a remarkable offseason
regarding the injury list. The Chiefs are dealing with their own injuries right now.
Josh Simmons is, I believe, confirmed to be out their starting left tackle.
Nick Wright is obviously devastated by that, but so goes how things go.
And so, Broncos, even though we're missing Jonathan Cooper because he's on the exempt list,
I will say I do believe the Josh Simmons loss on the offensive line for the Chiefs is a bigger one.
It's going to make things a lot harder when you have an undrafted rookie starting his first game
against his Denver defense. I don't care if it's an arrowhead. So, the idea is to be making sure
that Mahomes is quite simply running for his life and that he is going to be doing everything that
he can to chuck it up to receivers that I'm not even worried about. We got, I got, basically,
Travis Kelsey, who's literally like most of his body's out in retirement already.
And we've got, what, wide receiver one is a player who spent a month of his offseason in jail
with Rasheed Rice. We've got Xavier Worthy, whoa, or what, Cyrus Allen, that apparently he's been
making noise for them. Again, this receiver room is buns. The only thing that they did to help
Mahomes this offseason is Kenneth Walker. He's the only one to really be nervous about, to be honest.
And that's, so we'll, he's going to be the main game plan is stopping the run and our offensive,
or sorry, defensive linemen are going to need to produce in that aspect. When it comes to the
offensive side, it's, it's pretty simple. The running backs have to produce. We have to have
a running game to give Bo enough space to do what he needs to do. Christopher Hart from Mile High
Report said that after JK Dobbins went down with an injury in the second half of the 25 season,
the Broncos running game sputtered. They averaged barely over three yards per carry when he was
sidelined. That's simply unacceptable and something that has to be addressed. This offseason, they've
worked diligently on their running game from the blocking schemes up front to even adding players
to their backfield. While I expect Dobbins to get most of the carries against the Chiefs,
the Broncos will need the second year running back RJ Harvey and rookie Jonah Coleman to also
perform at a high level. Could not agree more. You know, and this kind of brings my, the next
part of this to Davis Webb. What are we, is he going to improve this running game with his play
calling? Hart went on to say that while the Broncos have certainly embarked on a tremendous turnaround
the past three seasons with Peyton leading the team, some of his decisions on offense have left
many fans hoping for more. Only time will tell if this change will turn out to be the right call,
but Broncos country should be excited in the potential new wrinkles that are on
the horizon for the upcoming season. They have a lot of playmakers on offense,
so finding a way to get them involved will be a challenge, but in my opinion, that's a good one
to have. How Webb goes about drafting up a game plan to battle Steve Spagnuolo's defense will be
a fascinating one to watch unfold, and this is a huge benefit because fortunately for us,
they've never seen, you know, Jalen Waddell on the Broncos besides like a very brief stint in the
preseason against the Packers where it looked pretty dang good to us. But again, like this
will be, you know, Davis Webb unleashing his playbook, unleashing these all these healthy
playmakers. It's going to be a lot for the Chiefs to account for. They are also missing Trent
McDuffie and now putting a rookie corner in Mansour Delane out there, so they're gonna be dealing with
Waddell, with Sutton. I don't know who the Chiefs safeties and linebackers are, but again,
the additions they made versus the Broncos retaining a lot of guys, it does not worry me.
It does not make me feel fearful of them, and maybe that's a problem. I mean, listen,
I felt the same way when the Chiefs went, you know, did their back-to-back run in 2023 when
that was a very poor roster in my opinion. They had two of like the worst starting tackles in the
league, Jawan Taylor and Donovan Smith. Still managed to win a Super Bowl with both of them,
so that's why I'm not putting too much of eggs in the basket of like, oh, Josh Simmons is out,
that means we're gonna run rampant on him. Not necessarily. I have underestimated Mahomes for
the last time. I just refuse to do it at this point. It's really how well will Mansour Delane
play against, you know, some, you know, star-studded veterans in this Broncos
receiver group, and also same for the running back group. I mean, J.K. Dobbins obviously looking to
have his first healthy season, which he's made that promise before, and we'll see how that ends
up going on, but I know I'm talking a lot about the Chiefs, but really, in the end, the Broncos
will not win if Bo Nix does not deliver, and my confidence is sky-high with Bo after what
happened in the playoffs last, when we saw him last. Sayer Benninger from Predominantly Orange
said, it is possible for two things to be true. It's possible that the Broncos' entire roster was
underestimated going into the 2024 season, as well as Bo Nix being underestimated and underrated.
The problem is, the roster progressing and exceeding expectation has caused the goalposts
to be moved in unacceptable ways. It's not a coincidence that the Broncos have been to the
playoffs in back-to-back years, with Bo Nix at the quarterback position. It's not a coincidence
that he's supposed to have the ball late in games, and that has had his team in position
for 11 game-winning drives, including the playoffs, and actually put his team in position
for even more than that. Like, sometimes the team just didn't, you know, like, for example,
the Colts game last year. We should have won that game, and, you know, there's like a weird leverage
call that allows the Colts to get an extra 15 yards and then kick an easier game-winning field
goal. Probably should have won that game, if we're being honest. So, there's, you know, there's, and
then the blocked field goal. Bo Nix led a great game-winning drive that, unfortunately, the Chiefs
defense stuffed our special teams unit. So, again, Bo is unquestionably clutch. I think he is more
clutch than Caleb Williams. I mean, again, I am biased, but I don't care. Caleb Williams has more
moments from last year. That's why he got the cover of the Madden, but Bo has more impressive
wins, in my opinion. I mean, it's, you know, we beat the Packers, too. We beat them soundly. That
was one of Bo's best career games. Caleb had to do remarkable comeback wins to beat the Packers,
one of which didn't even have Michael Parsons. So, I just, I'm not sold on the whole Caleb over Bo.
I mean, this is a chance for Bo to really make himself out to be one of the best quarterbacks
in that 2024 class or maybe even the best. I mean, Drake may look terrible in his debut. Caleb,
I think, is overrated. Jayden Daniels needs to stay healthy. It's, you know, it's all coming
down to, like, can Bo really make his name, make him the name from the 2024 class? I think it's
possible. I think it's definitely on the horizon. Back to the defensive side, though. Q Robinson
and Jonah Ellis will be the guys ready to play in place of Jonathan Cooper. It's just crazy that we
have every player available besides Cooper for non-health reasons. Kudos to the health staff
and the conditioning staff. I think they did a fantastic job. The depth chart for the roster
is also mildly interesting because Marvin Mims was listed above Pat Bryant, even though that was,
like, a question of, like, is Pat Bryant, like, it felt like Pat Bryant was, like, easily the
bonafide wide receiver three. Sean Payton couldn't stop himself from, like, hyping him up in all of
these press conferences. So it's, like, why all of a sudden are we, like, acting like he's not
wide receiver three and Mims is above him? And again, much respect to Mims. I want to do whatever
it takes to keep the guy, but that goes for a lot of guys on this team, you know, Riley Moss,
Jaquan McMillan, etc. So when it comes to Pat Bryant, he's going to be the guy that I'm looking
out for quite a bit. I also am very excited to see how the defensive line does without John
Franklin Myers. We have a lot of guys trying to step up and make, you know, make up for that
loss on the defensive interior with Onyetim, Roach, DJ Jones. I mean, the list goes on, but again,
that was really the only, like, surprise, I guess I would say, on the depth chart. Everything went
as expected. This is a team that knows who they are and knows who they have to stop, and that is
Patrick freaking Mahomes, both of which, you know, Bo and Patrick coming off some devastating
injuries. We'll see how they play, but I am really, really interested to see just who outperforms who.
So far, Bo, when he's gone head-to-head with Mahomes, has outplayed him two times. Obviously,
one was still a loss, but that was because of a blocked field goal. We'll see how this one goes.
My hopes are this one isn't even close. My hopes are that we blow them out, but
given this is a divisional game, it's still Indy Reid, it's still Mahomes.
Chris Jones, we'll see. Apparently, there's rumors going around that he might be
doubtful for the game. I'm not banking on that either. I'm expecting everyone to be playing their
best, and that's why it's gonna be a crazy game. What do you guys think? Shout in the comments
down below your thoughts on this game, and until next video, I'll see you then.
