These moves are CRAZY...
Aug 31, 2026
Crazy, crazy, crazy cut day and it feels like it's just getting started but we're winding
towards the end of formulating what is going to be the Broncos 53-man roster for the 2026 season.
Some crazy cuts have happened, some uh commissioners uh lists or whatever they call it
has been made and it does affect the Broncos because one of our players was put on there.
We'll be breaking it all down and also Aaron Donald is out of retirement so now we're gonna
be dealing with I mean we already are going to be playing the Rams you know early this season so
it likely means that we'll be seeing this offensive line that we have. Thank god we have one of the
best in the league. We'll be facing Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett at the same time uh we'll see
what we can do but uh Bo better put the his uh his no sack hat on uh especially for that one
because you gotta pray to get away with uh not getting sacked in a game with those two on the
field and not even to mention all the other you know insane defensive players they got McDuffie
as well out there like that's gonna be a crazy game maybe a Super Bowl matchup we will find out
but uh it's crazy I don't even know how the salary cap anyway this is not a Rams video this is a
Broncos video but welcome to Broncos Digest everybody I'm Sebastian your host and uh we'll
be talking about everything that's been going on in the Broncos world today uh so honestly just
subscribe we're trying to make our way you know up the the ladder I was hoping to get to 3,000
subscribers by the time we get to Monday Night Football almost two weeks away uh to face the
Chiefs and hopefully put them in their place because we got bigger fish to fry with the Rams
hopefully down the road in the Super Bowl so uh we'll see we'll see but a lot to talk about about
who did not make this team or who would not be playing for this team at least for an extended
period so uh buckle your seat straps because we have a lot to talk about let's first start talking
about the big one the commissioner's list so uh to jump right into it yes Jonathan Cooper who we
have talked about before was placed on the commissioner's list um so or the exempt list
or whatever they call it which does mean that he is not allowed to practice with the team or play
with the team as long as he's on this list and there has been no definitive timeline as to why
or not we know why but we don't know how long uh this will last um honestly like the same thing
happened today to Josh Jacobs the running back for the Packers um Puka seems like he managed to
not get on that list um so we'll see but anyway it is an indefinite amount of time for Jonathan
Cooper uh as they get the legal stuff uh figured out so anyway we got plenty of guys behind him
but it is a blow to the Broncos defense just on a talent perspective because now
you know the guy that's usually on the opposite side of Nick Benito not playing so uh but the
Broncos have been kind of ready for this I mean we found this out months ago that you know this
might have been something coming down the road so now it's all about what can the Broncos do to
you know I I guess uh have guys loaded up behind him um it says that also the Broncos some people
are reporting that the expectation is somewhere between two to six weeks or two to six games
to start the year is as how much Cooper will miss so likely will not be playing against the Rams
it's either week three or four or something like that so uh not that the Rams offensive line is the
scariest offensive line in the league but uh still you know we need every uh piece of help that we
can get to face the Rams or just a lot of the teams that we're gonna be facing in those first
six weeks it's like that's like the big that's the major part of the Broncos schedule that is just
really really hard and uh we'll we'll see what we can do but um yes that that is the expectation as
of right now but that is just again and I guess that is not something that said is set in stone
by any means it's it's you know all these things are speculation in the end um Mike Kley's news
said that all cases are different uh the expect the general expectation is that Cooper will miss
between two to six games uh Jonah Ellis, DeAndre Tillman, Q Robinson are up to take over that spot
Cooper since his incidence in June has completed a comprehensive uh inpatient program of more than 30
days to focus on mental health and overall well-being he never missed a day of training
camp and played in all three preseason games so the Broncos seem have like they have all the
intentions to keep him on the team uh despite him going on the exempt list there was no talk about
potentially releasing or trading him so uh but the former seventh round pick is not going to be able
to play with the Broncos for as long as the league or the commissioner deems it necessary so
it's not really a suspension it's more about like a indefinite timeout I guess it's kind of hard to
explain um but yeah Zach Halberman really shouting out like you know whether it's Jonah Ellis's time
Q Robinson a lot of guys that are ready to step up into uh up to the plate to you know make a
name for themselves and maybe take over you know Cooper's spot forever like if they play well
enough and I Cooper is replaceable Nick Benito not so much I mean every every once in a while
you come across a guy like Benito but it's a much harder guy to find to be like your franchise
edge rusher uh Cooper while a really good player is you know his talent level is something that you
can find elsewhere whether through a trade or anything else so if that one if it was Benito
I'd be panicking a bit more Cooper I'm sure you know these guys Ellis Robinson these guys are all
been waiting for their moment and uh they better take advantage of it because now's their time
uh James Palmer uh tweeted that my understanding is that the Broncos held out hope that Cooper
wouldn't be placed on the exempt list but stayed prepared in a variety of ways because of the
seriousness of the charges now Denver and Cooper will wait to see how long he's on the list as his
legal matter is still unresolved without an official timeline as of today Cooper does not
count towards the 53-man roster he will get paid but will lose in-game roster bonus and can be
can be in the facility to work out and attend um you know work stuff but uh he's not going to be
allowed to attend like practices or um games so it's uh you know that's just kind of the nature
of the of the situation that's where things stand um for the Cooper situation but again we have guys
ready uh in the chamber ready to go to help out and um I believe that it it should be fine I might
again this team is super deep super loaded that's why that some of these uh cuts that we're actually
going to be talking about from the Broncos Broncos team are pretty surprising because uh you know you
expect most of your draft picks to make the team uh I'd say a majority of our draft picks from this
year did not make the team crazy enough so uh I mean without further ado let's just kind of talk
about it because the first one that some people might be uh surprised about a player that I was
really excited that we drafted Justin Jolly was cut by the Broncos uh our fifth round pick he did
not make the team uh that so that they did wave him he struggled adjusting to the NFL and the
training camp and clearly he could use a red shirt year quote unquote uh but his talent was obvious on
his 88 yard catch and run touchdown Friday against the Vikings again you know that was a really cool
play completely broken coverage though so it's like you could almost figure that could have been
anyone running that route I mean he there was no one within like 20 yards of him um and so Zach
Helberman his takeaway from this is that the Broncos have to have a tight end move coming
because his depth the depth chart on the tight end specifically was weak enough already brutal
that is also my expectation uh I was figuring we would carry Jolly onto the roster and then
maybe make a trade and cut him later on mid-season but like that's not the case you know that right
now they're just running with Ingram Troutman probably someone else that Lomber maybe like it's
uh there's but again it's a it's a weak tight end room it's probably one of the biggest weaknesses
on the team right now unless Ingram just completely breaks out and we are all wrong about him which I
would love don't get me wrong but uh that's a big if we're asking for a big if there and um
I don't know it's but that one is a big surprise uh my model high report same thing like that's a
surprise figured he would at least make the 53 a roster is Tayson Hill coming that is another
interesting takeaway that you know maybe might happen but I'm not I'm not banking on that
happening either like there's it's again it's a surprise like Justin Jolly I was excited he's a
he's a playmaker but again if he didn't wasn't able to adjust to NFL speed NFL physicality all
that I trust this coaching staff to recognize that and you know cut their losses and be like
listen we we took some swings on some players uh and it didn't work out you know like we we thought
that maybe we could add some depth and wouldn't have to you know use any trades uh down the road
but looking at just how talented and deep this roster is they're not going to waste you know
picks or waste roster spots on young guys when we're going for a Super Bowl run this year and
I gotta respect it you know that there's a lot of uh those are hard decisions but it's integral to
a championship mindset that like these are the best of the best and we got to keep them on our
team uh so other people that were also cut uh Myles Scott the seventh round safety which again
a lot of people have been saying like we signed Taylor Rapp and then cut him because of personal
reasons which but it seems like Sean Payton said that there's an intention to bring him back so
anyway it seems like Rapp has like a roster spot saved for him but Myles Scott the uh the seventh
round safety was cut as well didn't really hear much about him kind of underwhelming training camp
in pre-season uh he seemed like he was on the out looking on the outside in seventh round rookies
getting cut nothing too crazy there speaking of which uh Red Murdoch the linebacker that we
picked at Mr. Irrelevant was also uh cut which is kind of unfortunate because a lot of us were
thinking like oh maybe he would make the team it is not the case Murdoch was not able to make it
maybe the intention is to um uh bring him in as like a practice squad guy if he clears waivers
we'll find that out tomorrow but uh Murdoch is another one that was just unfortunate to
make not make the team um so hopefully they you know again we'll see who the backup linebackers
end up being Ted York the undrafted free agent was one that you know people have been paying
attention to still waiting to see any uh specific news about him he might have been cut but again
they might be looking for uh let's see here Ron Stone Jordan Miller I'm looking through the the
list right now I just I don't believe oh they're oh Prentice got released that's another one that
is a bit interesting and shocking uh that one I did not see coming uh but at the same time like
again this team is loaded I can't I can't emphasize enough like it just seems like they don't feel
in Davis Webb's system they don't they didn't feel the need for a fullback that one I did not
see coming okay so York has not been released yet uh we'll see if he makes the team Jolly was
released yep and then oh a Colby Cassis uh you know the wide receiver people were thinking maybe
he would be uh had an off chance of making it but did not make it so anyway we'll see if some of
these guys make the practice squad we'll be reporting on that on the channel as well but uh
we will keep you updated on maybe some surprises who make the team or maybe if a uh you know a
trade happens with a tight end or you know a pickup of a possible Tayson Hill we will find
out very soon uh very very excited to see what happens there what do you guys think about all
these moves down below shout in the comments and react and until next video I will see you then
