Poplarville QB Trac Smith speaks after win over Hancock
Sep 12, 2026
You guys have scored 40 points all three games, what's been working for you guys?
We've been practicing well, been playing hard and we've been executing.
We didn't have a great week of practice this week, but we should bounce back next week
and just keep doing what we've been doing all year.
What's been the biggest difference between last year and this year?
I would say leadership and expectations.
Last year we just kind of thought we're more talented, we'll go out there.
We didn't put in the real work, we put in the work this year and we're ready to play.
You guys are showing a dimension that didn't really exist last year.
You were able to hit a few big passes in the first half, where did that come from?
We've had it up there, but I was the younger quarterback last year
and we've been putting it in more and we've been practicing.
We had 7-on-7 this summer, we had a lot of stuff that we've done in the fall
and we're just working.
Between that, the addition of Caden Bradford, you guys have some recalls you didn't have before.
Talk to me about that.
We've got a lot of athletes, we're blessed with a lot of athletes,
so we just use them in any way possible.
The defense stumbled a little bit tonight for the first time,
but so far it's been pretty solid.
What did you see from them?
They're really good and that's a really good offense and that's a really good scheme.
Coach King has always been good.
What are the goals for you guys this season?
One week at a time, win every week, win every day at Brightness
and just continue to play hard.
