Well with the season opener a week and a half away for the Lions against the New Orleans Saints at home
Made a couple of more moves on Wednesday creating a couple of openings on that 53-man roster
But also there were some comments made especially from head coach Dan Campbell that were intriguing that suggests to me
That there still might be some major moves left before we start that season opener against New Orleans
We're gonna talk about that a whole lot more on this edition of Lions Digest. Hey everybody yours truly captain Lou here want to again

Daily updates right here on the Lions on Lions Digest. All right, we talked about it
It was made news yesterday that Seth McLaughlin
Reserve lineman for the Lions backup center right now
Anyways, and Jabari small both were waived by the Lions creating a couple of openings on a 53-man roster
now these were more or less made yesterday a Wednesday rather instead of
On Sunday at the deadline because they're banged up and they potentially would have had to have made injury settlements at that time
So what that also means is by waiving them today
They could go through waivers quicker and potentially get on that practice squad anytime now by Friday
That way they can be there in case they're needed with these couple of openings now on the roster
It even makes things a little bit thinner on the offensive line for the Lions
Juice Scruggs right now. He's the only center that the Lions have on the roster. He's taking over for Kate Mays
You see him there in the picture
He's gonna be out at least until week five for the Lions
And so that means that one of the options probably would have to be that Tate Rattlage
Would have to move over and be the center should Scruggs need a couple of plays off
Bartch might be an option as well, but that's gonna leave the Lions awfully thin on the offensive line
So one wonders if McLaughlin may get called up off that practice roster again
Well, one of the guys obviously that we don't have to worry about is Penae Sewell
He got moved over to the left side of the line. Blake Miller's gonna be on the right
I get it, but Sewell is gonna cover the backside now of Jared Goff. He's an all-pro
I've got all the confidence in the world in him so much so that I am gonna trade
Yes on him being the protector of the year in the National Football League with our brand new partner here on Lions Digest
And that's Kelshi now remember with Kelshi you're trading directly against other users your peers
Not the traditional sports books. You're bringing you're buying rather yes or no contracts on events sporting events
Politics the weather all of that and more on Kelshi now if you take a look at the chart
With the protector of the year, I'm taking Penae Sewell. He's been rated right around the top all year. He's one of the more
Yes traded contracts for protector of the year, but you're still getting a great payout on this as well
So put $25 down
Look what you'll get in return at the end of the year a great payout if he is indeed voted
Protector of the year. Why do I use $25 you ask?
Well, it's simple if you're interested in trying out Kelshi use the link in the description and trade
$25 with the code digest NFL and you'll get
$25 added to your account instantly all the games start next week and they all trade on
Kelshi well getting back to that offensive line. We mentioned it
It's a little bit thin and some other questions still abound Dan Campbell the head coach of the Lions made some very
Interesting comments on
Christian mahogany. He said the players fighting for left guard position might not even be on the team yet
So that tells me right now that they're out there looking for moves. But what is left now?
some of the possibilities as
Reported by Mike Payton from A to Z sports as they may go back into the market looking at guys like Lake and Tomlinson
Remember him or potentially will Hernandez to bring them in as an extra guard for the 53 man roster
I'm not sure if I'm all like jumping and doing cartwheels with Lake and Tomlinson
He was here for the Lions. You remember first round draft pick. He didn't exactly set the world on fire
So I'm a little bit worried about that now again
This could just be a formality for the Lions and they could bring back
Seth McLaughlin off the practice squad if he's deemed ready to go
So it's a smooth move. He's feeling better
But I you know, like I said, this is going to be very interesting for the Lions in the offseason
they're thin and
Getting rid of Seth McLaughlin the way they did. I know why they did it
He's feeling better so they could put him on the practice squad. Maybe they can bring somebody in now
Let's turn to the other side with that play with getting rid of Jamari small
Jamari small the Lions now only have three running backs on the roster
One wonders if they're gonna go after potentially Kareem hunt now, they've got Jacob sailors
he right now is going to be the knuckles for the Lions probably and
You've got him with Sean Bakke
And that's it. That's all they've got on the roster right now
with
Jameer Gibbs
So one wonders if the Lions are going to make a move on the wide or on the running back front
They're gonna have to do something. They can't roll with just three running backs. It's funny. They had five
now they're down to three so one wonders if they're gonna go after maybe Kareem hunt or
Potentially another running back out there like an AJ Dillon will obviously keep our tabs with that. What would you do?
If with these two roster spots open, I would love to see what your take is on it
Would you go after a running back? Would you go after a wide receiver?
O-line depth we talked about that earlier or potentially a defensive backfield a member of the backfield or two
What would you go after with that as well?
Now Justin Rogers is reporting to that Brad Holmes says on keeping just four wide receivers
Brad Holmes admits that it's light and said that the rosters makeup today isn't necessarily what it will be next week or in the next month
So again with that extra spot open, what are you gonna do there? What are the available wide receiver potentially for the Lions?
Let's take a look at that. There's some names out there Brandon cooks. He's familiar with the Lions
He's familiar obviously with Jared got Cedric Tillman. He's on the practice squad. I believe of the Titans
it's either them or the commanders or
They could go back to their practice squad. Why do I think it's going to be Tom Kennedy?
I always think it's going to be him back on the roster for the Lions Lucky Johnson Dominic Levitt
But all three of those are on the practice squad right now. They've got four wideouts
They've got Tesla and they've got Meeks who's going to bounce back and forth along with Tay Martin
They've got three tight ends on the right. They got Conklin back now as well. I beg your pardon
So there are options there
But these two roster spots create some openings and the one that I'm worried about again my biggest worry for the Lions right now
Number one is all line depth with these moves and number two with only three running backs
So I go back to ask you
What would you do if you're the GM of the Lions if you're Brad Holmes?
Would you go after running back help with these two openings wide receiver?
O-line depth
Defensive backfield or would you bring back somebody up from the practice squad would love to hear you
It's love to hear your thoughts on that as we get closer and closer
To the season opener against the Saints. All right, that's going to do it here for this edition of Lions digest
