So BC, I am so glad to have y'all here with me this morning.
I've heard so much about you two.
I gotta tell you, that single is fire.
So tell us, tell us about the projects you have on the way.
And go ahead, introduce yourself to the world.
Well, I'm Brandy. I put the B in BC.
We just, you know, a rap duo that's out here, that's in love.
On some Bonnie and Clyde type-ish.
He's the Romeo to my Juliet.
But anywho, I started rapping right after my parents died in a house fire,
right after I turned 18.
So after losing them, I just been, you know, out here dangling
and trying to survive and mourn at the same time.
You know, Detroit's known for a lot of things.
One of them is production.
Another one is execution.
And this urban miniseries is called Diamonds Up.
The miniseries is an independent urban crime and drama series.
And it's on the big screen.
Joining us now live in the studio is executive producer Eric Bishop
to tell us all about this.
Eric, I gotta say, I watched a lot of it and it is impressive.
Thanks for joining us.
And thank you so much for having me.
I'm so glad to be here.
Now talk to me about this.
First of all, how did you get into making something like this?
Well, it all started with a music video that was directed by the director,
creator, and author of Diamonds Up, the miniseries, Carl Kubrick Jackson.
And he brought an idea and a project to me.
He said, hey, why don't we, or why don't I write a miniseries for you?
You put up the money.
You can own the project.
You can be the executive producer.
Hire me on as the director and the editor and I'll do all the work.
And originally I was like, wow, that's a great idea.
Movie series, miniseries about me.
In essence, I'm all for it.
Initially it began that way.
And, of course, once we got into production and filming,
everything kind of took on a life of its own.
And now we're here with the project being much bigger than what I could have ever imagined.
Now talk to me about this miniseries.
What can we expect to see?
And what makes it different than other things that we're already seeing on YouTube?
Well, what makes this series different, first and foremost, it's about Detroit.
We have local actors and actresses who have come together to make this project come to fruition.
This is the unique thing about this particular miniseries.
It's strictly about Detroit and the inner workings of the underworld crime world.
That entails gang life.
And gang members trying to leave the streets and develop a legitimate career in the entertainment business.
Now, is this all filmed in Detroit?
And is the cast all from Detroit?
Yes, the entire film was filmed here in Detroit.
And the entire cast is absolutely from Detroit.
So talk to me about how many episodes you've done, where you want to see this, and what can people expect in the future?
Absolutely.
So right now we have just recently, as of mid-summer, dropped episode one.
We are currently in production filming episode two.
However, we do have a red carpet movie premiere at the Bel Air Theater on East 8 Mile Road here in Detroit from 7 to 10 p.m. this evening, September the 4th, 2026.
Where we will have live performances along with the episode and a behind-the-scenes introduction slash documentary about the interesting cast and characters we have in the episode telling their truth and what led them to Diamonds Up.
How can people find information on getting to this event and do they need tickets?
Yes, you do need tickets.
If you would like tickets, you can purchase these tickets at www.ticketsource.com forward slash .cash enter.
Again, that is www.ticketsource.com forward slash .cash enter.
I've got to ask, .cash, how do you get a nickname like that?
Well, it was actually by accident.
For a long time, for a lot of years, I went by my government name, my last name, Bishop.
That was the name I went by for many, many years.
Of course, in reinventing myself and trying to get a new start, a couple of years ago, I changed my name to Bishop.cash.
What happened was I was in the studio recording a record.
Because Bishop.cash did not fit, I just happened in the intro, I shortened it to .cash.
It just came out real clean.
Of course, the engineer at the recording studio and I, we kind of looked at each other.
When I asked him, I said, well, hold on.
I changed my name to Bishop.cash, but .cash has a ring.
What do you think?
He goes, yeah, .cash.
So it stuck.
That one moment changed the trajectory of it all.
Eric Bishop, it is so good having you join us today.
Why is this so important to have a miniseries or films or anything like this filmed here in Detroit?
Right.
Well, as you know, citizens of Detroit, we have a long history of excellence that goes all the way back to Motown, probably even before Motown.
But as far as entertainment, music and film, we have we don't have to look far.
But our ancestors who came before us, Barry Gordy and his team that created this culture that, of course, is still here.
But the vision, unfortunately, left with Motown so many years ago.
But what I would like to do is bring that vision back and even take it a step further as far as bringing film and music back to the forefront here in the great city of Detroit, Michigan.
You are you're definitely on it.
And how can people watch Diamonds Up in the whole miniseries?
You can watch Diamonds Up the miniseries if you come to the movie premiere, which is tonight, September the 4th, 2026 at the Bel Air Theater on East 8 Mile Road in Detroit, Michigan, from 7 to 10 p.m.
And how can people find you and follow you if they want to be a cast member, maybe show up in other events or just simply get to know you?
And I'm glad you asked that question.
We are definitely looking for actors and actresses.
If you are a talented actor and a talented actress, please reach out to me via Diamonds Up on my YouTube page.
Awesome. And we'll put this on our page on Fox2Detroit.com.
So if anyone missed anything, it will be all the information will be there.
Eric Bishop, it is so good to have you join us today.
What's the one message you have for Detroiters?
Citizens of Detroit, I am so honored to be sitting here before you.
Blessings, love and respect.
I appreciate your support.
Support, excuse me.
And please come check us out this evening at the red carpet movie premiere.
Blessings to you, my friend.
