Yankees SIGN PITCHER! Who Is It? (New York Yankees News)
4 Video Views·Sep 1, 2026
The Yankees just acquired a relief pitcher.
I don't think it's a bad one.
I don't think it's a bad move.
Let me know what you guys think down in the comments.
But they acquired reliever John Schreiber off waivers
from the Kansas City Royals.
Now, Schreiber, 32 years old,
free agent at the end of the season.
It's just some bullpen help for the Yankees now this year for Kansas City.
I mean, that's I don't know.
I'm looking at his numbers.
I don't I don't think they're terrible.
Fifty five appearances for Kansas City this season.
Three, six, five are in run average.
Forty nine and a third innings pitched.
Thirty six strikeouts.
A one, two, seven whip.
I don't think it's bad.
Listen, Fernando Cruz went down.
You need to replace him.
Replace those innings.
Schreiber went on waivers.
Yankees claimed them.
I think it's a good move.
It's fine.
This Yankee bullpen is OK.
They're just tired.
Hedrick is exhausted.
Blackburn, solid, seems solid.
These guys, though, they just seem very tired.
And Cruz has been pitching with
seems like a bad elbow for a little while now.
That's not good.
These guys are exhausted.
Yankees bringing in some guys who have in Schreiber's case
has had success this season.
Three, six, five earn run average for Kansas City.
He's a former Red Sox, by the way.
Man, you got to talk.
We got to talk about this, guys.
On the radio broadcast.
One of the red the Red Sox radio broadcaster
mentioned how that he believed that
because of how jazz was acting,
one of our players, Austin Wells, in this case, should get plunked.
At first, I was like, what is this guy talking about?
Like, why are you saying that on a live broadcast?
I know you're a Red Sox
broadcaster right on the radio, like I get it.
But Michael K is never going to say that there's some type of professionalism
that you should have.
He admitted that his fandom bled through a little bit.
We all make mistakes.
It's fine. It's OK.
But being a little violent, I don't know.
Let me know what you guys think.
Did he cross the line?
Maybe a little, maybe a little bit.
But jazz does get under opposing team skin, I guess.
Got under the Red Sox skin.
However, the third baseman wasn't covering third base on a potential steal
and jazz just thought to himself, I'll just take third base then.
I know we're up by six runs at this point.
Although I'll just take third base if you're not going to listen.
Unwritten rules.
Whatever they say.
I don't know.
It's the Yankees ended up winning that game 16 to one.
The Red Sox are terrible, terrible.
But the Yankees scored about like 10 runs in that eighth inning.
That was insane.
I got to be honest with you.
I was watching the game.
Then I left to I think I a 20 minute drive, maybe.
And they're they're winning, I think, seven to one or six one.
And I arrive at my destination.
They won the game 16 to one.
I'm like, what?
How the heck did they score this?
It's such a like 20 minutes, but that was cool.
So the Yankees beat up on Boston.
They needed to take that series.
They they they needed that tiebreaker and they got to the tiebreaker.
So if they meet Boston in the wild card round,
they got to the tiebreaker and they'll
they'll get that home field advantage if they finish tied with Boston anyway.
Or obviously better record than Boston.
But and thank God, it seems like George Lombard Jr. is OK.
That was a little scary.
You never want any of your guys to get hurt.
And everything seems to be clear on his end.
So I'm happy about that.
So the Yankees signing Schreiber, I like the move.
It's, you know, kind of mediocre, but it's whatever.
It's a fight. It's an OK move. It's fine.
It's fine. It's fine move.
They also I want to ask you guys this.
Should the Yankees move on from Ali Sanchez?
I think they should. I really don't think it makes much sense.
J.C. Ascara is a better player than Sanchez.
He is. Ascara is a better player than Ali Sanchez.
I know Ascara was not having a good season up here in the majors.
Like, I get it. He wasn't.
They sent them down.
They brought up Sanchez.
Sanchez had a little honeymoon phase with us,
and then that kind of went away when his defense began to get exposed.
But Ascara this season,
hitting much better in Triple-A than Sanchez did.
Has an 858 OPS in Triple-A. Ascara.
And I think he's a fine defensive catcher.
Hitting 280. Has nine home runs.
47 games. He has nine home runs down there.
It's pretty cool.
He's showing his pop.
Just bring him back up.
I don't think Sanchez should be on the roster.
It's a nice story.
Just bring Ascara back up.
Just just bring him up.
I think it's honestly, it's silly at this point.
I'd rather have him catch than Sanchez.
And I don't, I think the Sanchez story is a nice one.
It's a nice one, right? It's a nice story.
It's basically a career minor leaguer.
And he has a 589 OPS up here.
It's not like he's doing anything
that much better than Ascara.
In fact, I'd argue that he's not.
Down there in the minors, he had a 702 OPS.
Ascara at least 858 OPS.
Just call Ascara up.
This is a little, you know, fun experiment, if you will.
I think it's done.
I think it's finished.
Call Ascara up.
Option down, Sanchez or DFM, whatever you want to do.
I'd rather have.
I just think Ascara is an overall better ballplayer than Sanchez.
Now I'm seeing Giancarlo Stanton.
I mean, the days go on and people are still mocking him.
And listen, I get it.
It has been frustrating.
His Yankee tenure is and was incredibly, incredibly frustrating.
We didn't see the full potential of his time here.
He was hurt way too much.
This guy should have 600 career home runs.
The one thing about Giancarlo,
and I wanted to talk about this today, the one thing about Giancarlo.
He hit seven home runs in the 2024 postseason.
Now, if the Yankees win that World Series, Giancarlo's number might get retired.
I know that's kind of aggressive to say,
but if the Yankees win the 2024 World Series,
Giancarlo's number gets retired.
And whether it's the Yankees played for fundamentally poorly
that World Series, whether Aaron Boone mismanaged that World Series,
which we know both things happened, the Yankees could have very easily
have been up three, two in that series easily.
You win game one.
You win game five.
You're up three, two potentially or three, one, three, one.
You're up if you win game one and you win game five.
So you're up three, one, right?
Am I doing my math right?
They lost game one.
They lost game two.
They won game three or they lost game three.
I got my games messed up.
What am I talking about?
Oh, my gosh.
Whoo, guys, I'm exhausted.
I'm so tired.
My newborn son, he's just he's too much old right now.
Sometimes he's a hard time sleeping at night.
So I have a hard time sleeping at night.
But anyway, somewhere
Yankees could have been up three, two in the series.
Oh, I'll stick with that.
Three, two in the series.
Anywho, John Schreiber to the New York Yankees.
I like the signing.
I think it's fine.
The waiver claim, I think it's good.
George Lombard seems to be OK.
And Ali Sanchez, I
you should just you should just move on.
The Yankees should just move on from Ali Sanchez.
Man, I got to make another video after this.
I have a Giants channel, if you guys didn't know.
So if you want to check that out, please do.
I got to make a video over there now.
Let me I'll try my best, I guess.
But guys, listen, thank you so, so much for watching.
I'll cut this one short.
If you're not if you're not following the channel, please follow it.
John Schreiber to the New York Yankees waiver claim.
Welcome, buddy.
You don't throw very hard.
You throw like 93 miles per hour.
Whatever. It's fine.
All right, guys, thank you so much. Take care.
