Thoughts on EVERY Jets Practice Squad Player (Part 1️⃣)
Sep 1, 2026
Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe New York Jets have finalized their initial practice squad, featuring a mix of seasoned veterans and preseason standouts. The roster includes key depth at linebacker and cornerback, with several players expected to be elevated to the active roster soon due to injuries or strong preseason performances.
Heads up officially finalized their initial practice squad and I'm going to provide my
thoughts on every single player on that practice squad.
This is for the sickos out there who want to know about literally every player under
contract with the Jets and this is going to be a multi-part series obviously because there
are currently 16 players on the practice squad.
Let's not waste any more time.
Let's get into it.
Let's go.
First reported addition was veteran linebacker Troy Reeder.
Reeder is a 31 year old seven year NFL vet who has already appeared in over 100 career
games making 38 career starts primarily with the Los Angeles Rams.
This is probably the most notable signing that the Jets made to their practice squad.
Consider this like the Mikel Walker replacement.
Walker's of course out for the season with a calf injury, but I think similar to what
the Jets did last year with Walker, they signed Walker to the practice squad, elevated him
I think for like week two or week three and then soon promoted him to the 53 man roster.
I think Reeder will see playing time this year pretty soon and I would not be shocked
if he is on the 53 man roster honestly by the time we get to October.
Next up, it's the preseason legend himself.
It's everyone's favorite.
It's Nate Lynn.
Lynn, of course, led the Jets with six pressures and three sacks this preseason, finishing
with an 86.5 PFF pass rush grade that ranked fifth best among all qualified edge defenders,
but it wasn't enough to earn a spot on the 53 man roster.
I know the Jets were able to sneak Lynn through waivers and he is back on the practice squad
and honestly we might see him pretty soon because Joseph Osai is dealing with a foot
injury and he might miss some time to start the season, which means we could see Nate
Lynn elevated in one of those early games.
I know the Jets still have Braden McGregor on the 53, but we'd all like to see Lynn
getting no snaps instead of McGregor.
Then there's cornerback Jordan Clark, who quietly put together a really strong summer
and honestly he made a late push for a 53 man roster spot.
Unfortunately, there just wasn't really room, but Clark had an excellent preseason,
finishing with an 80.7 PFF coverage grade, leading the team with eight run stops and
finishing second on a team with 14 total tackles.
He returns to the practice squad as quality nickel cornerback depth, which is increasingly
valuable given the uncertain status right now of D'Angelo Pond.
Next, it's the other Jets preseason darling.
It's Maury Bamba.
Rest easy, Jets fans.
Bamba Island is not going anywhere.
The former BYU standout was the breakout star of the Jets' first preseason game.
Unfortunately, he suffered a knee injury in that game and has yet to practice since.
Some Jets fans wanted him on the 53 and they were concerned that the team might lose him
on waivers, but you have to remember, Bamba's 25 years old.
He turns 26 years old in November and he was never even a starter at BYU.
I know he's got intriguing physical traits.
He's very tall.
He runs like a 4-2-9 and obviously he was great in that first preseason game, but there
was never any real chance that he was going to get claimed.
He's back in the practice squad where he will continue his development and maybe we'll
see him again this year.
Who knows?
The last guy we'll talk about is cornerback Samuel Womack, one of the veterans on this
Jets practice squad who quietly was one of the team's best players in the preseason.
He finished with a 91.1 PFF coverage grade, which was actually the highest among all cornerbacks
in the preseason this year.
Womack was targeted six times in the preseason, allowing just two catches for eight total
yards and an NFL passer rating of 2.8 when targeted.
This is a guy who has played in over 50 career NFL games, including one with the Jets last
year.
I'm happy he's back on the practice squad.
He earned his spot.
