This trade update has Red Wings fans ENRAGED...

We have a shocking new update in the Dylan Larkin trade saga and this update has Red Wings fans
absolutely enraged as things continue to snowball for this organization still looking for a general
manager. One big order of business still remains on the to-do list and that is figuring out what
is to be done with Dylan Larkin. Now we have multiple new updates from multiple insiders
all in this episode so without wasting any more time let's jump right into it. Now
mark the first report here from Helene and thank you so much everybody for being so kind about yes
I get it I was pronouncing her name wrong but Helene St. James said that the Red Wings are
reportedly asking for a first line center in exchange for Dylan Larkin. Now that in itself
before I continue is a lot to take in. That is a very big piece of information because we had no
idea what a return looked like for the Red Wings. There was no reports on anything that they were
looking for. Now before I continue let me tell you straight up that that is not going to happen
and we're going to get into why in this episode. So it's looking like things are not going to
happen the way that Dylan Larkin himself let's be honest wants them to happen but none of the
teams on Larkin's trade list are willing to meet that demand. So here's the thing that it's just
not going to happen and the teams themselves they're not going to make it happen. So Mark
what do you make of this first report because there's a lot more to get to with Dylan Larkin
including something that I think Red Wings fans are absolutely enraged about. I mean the biggest
thing with Dylan Larkin of course if you're moving them out and you want to be competitive
again yes getting another first line center is exactly what you need to do. You want a second
line center as well no hate to Andrew Kopp but this is a team that you're in a really weird
situation now and if you're going out to move Dylan Larkin if you had no trade protection and
you said hey we'll take some prospects some draft picks kind of like the Vancouver Canucks did with
Quinn Hughes yes you could come out with a big haul and actually get some fair value but now
looking at this team and exactly what they've done over the past couple of seasons getting a
first line center and even looking at the list of teams there's we're going to dive into the
centerman they have but the Panthers the Wilds the Golden Knights the Dallas Terrors these are all
teams that want to win a Stanley Cup and they're not going to move out their first line centerman
to bring in Dylan Larkin those teams are teams that are going to want to go out add Dylan Larkin
in the NHL to go out and try to win a Stanley Cup and just seeing the reports coming out that
Stevie why and of course he's now stepping into a different position you have a new general manager
coming in wants to get equal value when it comes to player for player swap it's just not going to
happen especially with these teams that want to truly go out unless something crazy happens and
they want to move off one of their guys because it doesn't work or they demand a trade like we've
this is just not going to happen and honestly the way things are trending I don't know if
fans are going to be happy no I don't think they are because I think we're headed towards
a reality now which you outlined it pretty clearly and I think we've talked about already
on the channel multiple times that none of the teams that have been listed it's gonna it's not
going to happen with those teams it's not we knew that from the start and there's still the teams
that are on the table here it's just not going to happen now if you're thinking about Dylan Larkin
and the future you have a problem here if you're the Red Wings first of all you don't have a guy
in charge that can make trades right Sean Horkoff is now acting as a general manager he does not
have the right to make a trade they're not giving him that opportunity he cannot make any trades he
can make signings AHL signings whatever that is get the business done behind the scenes he cannot
make a trade so he's not going to be trading Dylan Larkin it's going to be whoever the general
manager is we have another update on that by the way we'll get to that in another video because
there's a lot to unpack with what's happening with the Red Wings but I think there's a scary
reality here and I say scary because you know there's a couple interesting caveats with it
where Dylan Larkin is going to return and to me you know you got to tell the guy you got lots of
years left on that contract you are returning you're coming to camp right you're not going to
sit out we're not going to trade you just because you want to be traded look how many years he has
left on his contract right you're not even halfway through your contract you are showing up to camp
here's the thing about that though we just saw what happened with Brady Kachuk right and he was
what if you bring this guy back what is the vibe in the room now right like the brink it has a year
left there's no contract talk or extension talks there although he said that he is not requesting
a trade right but that doesn't mean that he's going to sign an extension or we have no idea
what that looks like right but you're bringing him back into a room where he's the leader and
he just asked out right and we know the whole thing and the turmoil with Steve Eisenman now
he's gone maybe they can smooth things over but a report the other day that we covered on the
channel as well outlined that no the trade request still stands there's no smoothing it over
he does want to be traded so now you've entered a weird spot where of course they're not going
to bend right this is all negotiation of course he's going to say that the trade request still
stands it's not going to say okay never mind i'm happy now i'm going to come back they have
they need something to stand on of course but mark i'm curious for your thoughts too
bringing a guy back who is the captain who's wearing that letter on his jersey after everything
that's just happened i think that's something you got to consider now as well because you know
he's going to be leading the way and what are the other guys in the room look at that and think i
like to think Dylan Larkin's a tiny bit smarter than Brady could chuck and especially with an
organization that he's been with his hometown team where he was drafted wants to be the hero
but when looking at it my biggest worry is listen Dylan Larkin it becomes back you're competitive
again you make it to the playoffs maybe this gets swept under the rug you look at it when they're
hoisting the Stanley Cup and say wow wasn't that kind of funny that that almost unfolded but
the biggest question is you have a new general manager stepping in and it feels like a pressure
cooker you know that this team has had zero success over the past couple of seasons you can see all
the missed playoffs we know Dylan Larkin has more playoff wins with the Grand Rapids Griffins when
he was there for one season then he has in his time with Detroit since joining the organization
but Darius this is now a team where a general manager stepping in might have to panic and say
hey we have to go out make these big moves we're moving on from the prospects that we went out to
you have a very tough division a lot of these teams have got better the Toronto Maple Leafs
the Florida Panthers are fully healthy the Boston team never goes away Montreal is young
Tampa is very good these are teams that you're going to be battling with to get the wild card
spot or get into the playoffs and genuinely if they step in and say hey we want to make a trade
or we want to keep Dylan Larkin and make trades to be competitive I think it's a situation where
if you miss the playoffs yet again you give up your first round pick for Justin Falk a great
player that of course didn't get enough done on the back end but if you're giving up all these
picks prospects you're back into the same situation then Dylan Larkin says hey I'll never return to
this franchise because we missed again then you're even in a worse spot and I genuinely feel bad
listen he's gonna make a ton of money he gets to be a general manager for an NHL team but I don't
think there's more of a hot seat than whoever steps into the front office for Detroit because
he has a decision to make to move out a captain that wants to be out of here or keep a captain if
he changes his mind and put this team farther into a hole and speaking of you know coming in and
taking over that job and first order of business and all those things I still think it is Dylan
Larkin because you know for the the points that I outlined you got to figure out if you're one
foot out the door or not like figure out what's going on with that situation get that done ironed
out whether it's a trade or not and then the other order of business is Simon Evidson like he doesn't
have a contract yet you have to figure that out too so you're right it is a hot seat whoever's
coming in it's got to get ready to get to work and if you look around the league in terms of what
other teams are doing the Toronto Maple Leafs they hired a search firm too and the guy that they hired
came in started doing things right like that has to be the exact same scenario here for the Red Wings
the only difference is it is August and the season starts earlier this year and looking at the
standings you brought up a good point if you look at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings
all three of those teams in the Rangers Leafs and Panthers I could see genuinely in the playoffs
this year it is going to be insane so you got to figure it out I think that this team this year
in terms of the hunger and some of the younger guys on the team might be a little bit better than
last year but if you still have Dylan Larkin leading the way and there's that weird thing
going on where you know I just feel like the vibe's going to be weird you have to iron that out
and he might have to take a page out of Zach Baranski's book to show up to camp and be like
none of that was real and you know let's put it behind us and I'm here and I'm ready to go right
so might have to do something like that but guys we want to hear what you have to say in the
comments below let us know what you think of the brand new update I don't think he's going to any
of those teams if he does the Red Wings are going to lose that trade disastrously it's going to be
awful they're not going to get what they want I don't even think they're going to get what they
want period even if they were trading with 20 teams in the league maybe I don't know if there's
a fit in terms of exactly what they want there so that's interesting I told you guys they don't
want futures it's it's an interesting situation that they have to figure out sooner rather than
later and I have to be honest let us know what you think about this in the comments too
they got to find their GM and hire their GM to figure this all out and start making decisions
at least because of course they still have people attacking the organization like next week you have
to get that done so it's going to be interesting to see what happens let us know how you feel in
the comments below we'll see you for another video tomorrow
