Well, if you need a little inspiration this Thursday,
I want you to listen to our next guest.
So we are just hours away from getting insane.
So we're talking about the insane rumble.
It's happening tonight in Monroe.
Joining us now, we have pro wrestler,
Action Mike Jackson,
and we have a friend of the show, Dean Hendricks.
Guys, how we doing?
Blessed, brother, blessed.
Good to be here.
We talked before the show,
and look, man, you live in Alabama.
I'm from Alabama.
We talked a little bit.
You live in Birmingham, which is Northern Alabama.
I'm in Montgomery, which is South Central of Alabama.
But, man, 76-year-old, six years old,
doing this at a high level.
How do you get prepared for this?
Well, I get that question asked a lot of times.
Matter of fact, the most probably question I'm asked is,
when am I gonna quit?
My wife asks me that every day.
But I'm blessed, the Lord's good to me.
I still have my good health.
I train hard every day.
I do seven days a week training.
At my age, you have to do it.
So, you know, that's pretty much my routine.
I try to eat well, try to do the right things,
and, you know, again, I'm blessed, and my health is good,
and I'm just gonna keep on doing it
till the good Lord says it's time to quit.
Look, we got this video of you doing a taupe
through the ropes.
Incredible.
How often do you do this?
But there's also the walk on the ropes.
How often do you walk the ropes?
How often do you do the taupes?
Well, I try to do them at least one time every match.
The good thing is, when I did the taupe
with this guy right here, that's,
I think that's a Mance Warner.
I think that's him, that's Mance Warner.
Well, there I was.
That's me and Johnny Swinger.
Nice.
I can do all that, and it's really good
if you don't fall off.
You look real good if you don't fall off.
Or you look really good if you do a dive
and there's somebody there to catch you.
Right.
Or somebody to hit.
Dean, let me ask you this, man.
What have you learned just from talking with Mike
and just seeing him in action?
The biggest thing I've learned
from actually Mike Jackson so far
is how to make everything mean something,
like larger than life.
This man knows his business inside and out.
I actually, one of the first questions I asked
when I picked him up yesterday,
when did you debut in professional wrestling, my man?
Dude, you've been at this 50 plus years, right?
1972.
Ooh.
Insane.
So I've tried to pick this man's brain
for the past 24 hours and I've learned a lot.
Just hearing him talk about psychology of wrestling
and making everything really mean something.
Because you could be the guy who can be the prototype
athlete, but it takes more than that
in professional wrestling.
I got you.
Yes, it does.
Mike, so you got a big task ahead tonight.
There's a 30 person rumble.
You're number one.
Well, let me tell you how that came along, Brandon.
When IWR called me, a good friend called me,
said, Mike, we have a Royal Rumble.
I've been in those.
I know exactly what they are.
Matter of fact, it's probably the most dangerous match
that there ever was.
And he said, would you come and be in our Royal Rumble?
And I said, I will do it under one condition,
that I'm number one draw.
Now he said, are you crazy?
I said, well, probably.
I've been claimed that many times.
But here's the situation.
I could have been, my name could have went in a hat.
I could have been drawn out number 29
and it wouldn't have had Barry gone.
But first of all, I want to test myself.
I want the people to know that this,
I'm not a freak show.
I'm not some kind of fair act coming up here
that's going to be in the Royal Rumble for 10 seconds
and somebody throws me out and they pat me on the back,
saying you did good.
I'm going to tell you something now.
This may blow your mind.
I'm in it to win it.
And you know, I want to be number one.
And Dean's in the match too.
Well, so hopefully.
Hopefully action Mike Jackson has,
I hope I drew a later number than him.
Okay, all right.
I told Ronald, that's the only way I'll be in it.
If you want me to come,
because the Royal Rumble is dangerous.
You have to have eyes on the side of your head,
back of your head.
You got guys running everywhere.
I've seen guys get their shoulder separated,
knees tore up,
because you can't see what the other guys
behind you is doing.
You can't trust anybody,
not even the guy that's driving you around.
That's your Detroit, right?
Hey, but one thing is for sure,
after riding around with this man,
I know he's all about the action.
There you go.
That's why they call him action Mike Jackson.
Real quick, Mike,
Ronald told me this story.
You don't book online.
Like people call you,
they get your flights.
You're very old school.
I still live in the seventies and the eighties.
Of course things were so simple.
Cash, you know,
everything was so simple in those days.
I got you.
I didn't want to say anything.
I'm surprised you haven't gotten jumped,
because you're in big 10 territory.
You got an SEC hat on.
Oh, you know what?
I didn't think about that.
There you go.
But I'm a big college fan.
I love all of college football.
That's a whole nother segment we can do.
I love it.
Hey, look, go to the side there on your screen.
Well, we had it on the screen for tickets tonight.
Action Mike Jackson,
Dean Hendricks.
Thank you guys for being here.
Great to see you guys.
And up next,
Lee is going to talk with our friends at TMZ
after the break.
You've inspired some of our people
behind the camera already.
That's what I'm talking about.
There you go.
That's what we're talking about.
We'll be right back.
