percent that is not currently subscribed it's completely free to do we are on that road to
12k and we're having a ton of fun while doing it now guys diving into the video there's a lot to
look at we understand where Brian Cashman is at right now he needs to make some trades for this
team the bullpen and the catching positions are just unable to stay the way they are saying now
their bullpen actually has gotten a little bit better and there has been some stuff to like
especially at the top end of it there's been some effectiveness but right now the catching position
has to be changed because Austin Wells has just not been cutting and we're seeing reports
of that happening from Jeff Passant and Brian Hoke now Brian Hoke said this year catcher and bullpen
appear to be the most likely targets Cashman acknowledged the club's catching is an issue
with Austin Wells and others having collectively produced a 176 batting average of 521 OPS
and a 46 weighted runs created plus all ranking near the bottom of the majors now Hoke also would
mention on top that the Twins Ryan Jeffers is a potential target especially given the pre-existing
relationship with head with catching coach Tanner Swanson the Rockies Hunter Goodman offers even
greater power upside though the Yanks were expecting from Wells who cracked 21 home runs
last year now they're each very interesting players to acquire because how good they are
Jeffers would be able to give the Yankees an actual leadoff hitter too batting with a 292
he would fit perfectly in there it lets Cody Bellinger bat second and Judge bat third the way
the Yankees do like to run it or at least the way they should when everyone's always healthy
but on top of that guys there is even more to look at I mean the baseball squad numbers show
how great of an offensive player he is and that is super super exciting for this squad right now
considering how important it is for the Yankees to acquire a catcher who can play any semblance
of offense and Jeffers does seem like the most likely guy who the Yankees would be acquiring
but there is a lot to look at here but guys also real quick before we get any further into it thank
you to prizefix for sponsoring today's video prizefix is the number one sports picks app in

all the time and I got some promotions so you guys can win a little bit extra on prizefix as
well but diving back into the video we'll talk about that later on we look at Jeffers and I mean
he's the prototype of what the Yankees need right now he's a catcher he's a contact hitter and he's
a great baseball player that is what the Yankees I mean obviously every team needs great baseball
players but like that's what they need they need someone who can play the catcher position
efficiently unlike what they've had this year from everyone involved but at the same time they don't
have a lot of contact hitting on this team bringing a guy with a 292 batting average is exactly what
you want to do so you can really start to get things together for them now the Yankees have
shown interest in Jeffers all not all season long but basically all season long and we have seen a
from Jeff Passon recently as well I mean right here we even see that when we look at the Yankees
overall this team right now their weakness is catching in the left side of the infield which
for sure is true now the best match is Ryan Jeffers from the twins and the dream match
is Hunter Goodman and well Passon discussed this in further detail. Passon mentioned that as middling
as the left side of New York's infield looks the catching situation this year has been a cauldron
the Yankees catchers this year are hitting a 175, 252, 254 slash and Austin Wells has the
worst batting average and slugging percentage of any hitter with at least 200 plate appearances
there are no capable backups it is a problem. Passon would further go on and say that the
market for catchers is thin Minnesota could entertain moving Jeffers an impending free agent
regardless of how well it is positioned and between the much-needed right-handed balance
he suits the Yankees perfectly even better considering the Yankees have no ready-made
prospects laid to take over behind the plate the 26 is the 26-year-old Goodman whose 27 home runs
ranked third in the MLB also an option well that with three more years of club control beyond this
season Goodman would require a haul he doesn't walk much and strikes out plenty the latter is
already an issue for New York for a Yankees team with a real shot at winning the AL this year
letting perfect be the enemy of good is dangerous and if they can get Goodman they should I'm not
going to sit here and deny how a hunter Goodman would be helpful for this team because obviously
he'd be great he's a good fielding catcher he's got a whole lot of power and he is what Brian
Castman loves a guy who is going to hit the ball as hard as humanly possible the 2.3 ward of this
season he's got a 254 batting average by no means is bad especially for a catcher and an 863 OPS
is very good in fact he gives the Yankees power from the right side and overall does fit what the
team would need in the form of catching now we look at Goodman overall his fielding has been
above average at the catching position and well the batting run value is excellent we look at a guy
who yeah he strikes out he whiffs a good amount that is what's going to happen when you're a power
hitter for the most part that does happen but at the same time we have to look at both these guys
and understand they are different now Goodman again he's more expensive he's got three years
of club control in the team that has not had a lot of good players recently so the Rockies might
be trying to hold on to Goodman tight and hope they can find their way back to playoff baseball
at some point so this year but eventually and because of that I do think it would be tough
to get Goodman off of the team meanwhile I think getting Jeffers would not be that hard in the
grand scheme of things look we look at Ryan Jeffers and first of all the twins might lose
him anyway in a few months so if they can get anything for him now it wouldn't be the greatest
hole in the world the Yankees could give something probably two mid-level prospects and all of a
sudden they've got a catcher who again gives them a leadoff hitter and literally gives them everything
they need a catcher that gives them a contact hitter a guy who hits from the right side it's
all the things that we have to look at the Yankees and understand this is what this team needs right
now they need a right-handed hitting catcher they need someone who can go out there and really play
the position play the position well and preferably we could use another contact hitter as well this
is the all-in-one situation that works out perfectly because you get you get your catcher
you get your contact hitter and then outside of that you won't have given up a ton of assets so
you can go out and if I'm Brian Cashman what I would do after acquiring Jeffers is
look at the market for relief pitchers obviously like everyone the Yankees would love to have Mason
Miller I imagine they'll go for Miller in some sense they went for him last year and didn't get
him they got outbid by San Diego now is the part of the Padres want to give him up that's a bigger
question that we have to figure out but it does depend on how they're doing and like it over the
next couple of days and also what the Yankees ultimately offer and what the Yankees believe
it's worth so obviously that's going to have a big impact on it as well and honestly David Bednar
has played well enough where they don't desperately need a closer they need guys I mean preferably a
left a left-handed pitcher as well but they need guys who can really play play the position and
play the position well enough to the point where it's like okay really right now all we need is
just to continue to build up this bullpen add like an arm or two more add Jeffers and yeah the
left side of the infield isn't great but Jose Caballero can hold it down for a year I'm pretty
convinced especially once everyone's healthy so he can go back to shortstop and yeah third base
between Ryan McMahon and Ahmed Rosario is not really going to thrill anyone but you can kind
of platoon each of them and you still do have Anthony Volpe for times that you want to put
Volpe somewhere you want to put him at short for a couple games you could put Caballero with third
obviously is it the best thing in the world no but it could be worse and I think right now they
have to stop having a catching position that's an automatic out to me that's the biggest need
but I do want to know what you guys think so let me know in the comments down below and guys before
we do wrap this video up it's the beginning of the week meaning we are about to get to taco
