Hello friends, welcome to day 198 of betting $100 every day for a year, just a couple days away from day 200.
Losing day yesterday 1-3 for a loss of $43.75, that brings our year-to-date record to 336 wins, 362 losses, 11 pushes for a profit of $43.50.
Let's keep things moving today, three bets for today's Major League Baseball action.
We're going to start with $40 on the Tampa Bay Rays to beat my Toronto Blue Jays.
I'm done with the Blue Jays, I think now at this point we just need to accept it's not going to happen.
Last year was their year, last year was the year of the Blue Jays where everything went right for them and now this is the year where everything is going wrong.
Injuries, poor performances, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has like four home runs, we're paying him like 500 million bucks.
I'm done with them.
28th in the Majors in WRC Plus over the past 30 days.
Third last offensively in the past month.
Rays obviously coming in at 6th in that metric.
Also Kevin Gossman who's supposed to be our ace, 623 ERA dating back to the start of June.
Not good, I don't know why or how the Rays earned bigger favorites in this spot.
Give me the Rays, minus 112.
And I got $30 on the Orioles, plus 125 to end the Red Sox 14-game win streak.
You would think with a team that's on a 14-game win streak, you'd think they'd have numbers that would just be popping off the charts.
Hasn't necessarily been the case.
Actually just 9th in the Majors in WRC Plus over the past 30 days.
22nd in WRC Plus when facing right-handed pitchers.
To be fair, it's largely been their pitching that has carried them on this win streak.
But still, you can only win so many games in a row with what has been basically an average to above average offense.
I think it's time the Orioles break that streak.
Cal Braddish turns for them tonight, he's been decent.
Offensively, they only rank one spot below in WRC Plus, below the Red Sox over the past 30 days.
I'll take a shot at them ending the streak at plus 125.
And then we'll end things with $30 on Matthew.
Is it Liberatore or just Liberator?
The pitcher for the Cardinals, over 5.5 strikeouts, plus 132.
The Angels have the highest strikeout rate in baseball this season, 25.1%.
That number goes up to 26% when facing left-handed pitchers.
That number increases further to 30.1% when facing left-handed pitchers over the past 30 days.
They take on obviously another lefty tonight in Matthew Liberatore.
I'm going to guess that's how it's pronounced, but maybe that's just my Canadian in me.
He's reached six strikeouts or more in two of his last three starts.
Also, great price on FanDuel. Most places have this around plus 110, plus 112, plus 115.
FanDuel, as of recording this, has plus 132.
So that was kind of my main motivation behind placing this bet.
Good price if you're looking at the market.
I'll place $30 on that.
Those are my three MLB bets for today's action.
Best of luck to all of your bets. Gamble or bless.
We'll see you back here tomorrow.
