Former City of Erie police officer honored by The Wounded Blue

In case you haven't figured it out, the order of the blue heart is the purple heart. You can see by the design of it, it is very similar in design to the Pearl Harbor. It's on a blue background and the face of that is Sir Robert Peel, the father of modern policing. This is presented to Erie Police Patrolman Richard Williams. In 1987, while performing crowd control of his canine, the scene of a large-scale disturbance, an individual emerged from the crowd and struck patrolman Williams in the head with a large bottle, causing a significant head injury requiring hospitalization. The Wounded Blue is proud to award the Order of the Blue Heart Award in honor of the service and sacrifice. This is for you, sir. Thank you.
