The decisive phase of the full-scale confrontation has shifted entirely from land and sea to airspace. Successful ground operations have deprived Russia of any chance of a deep breakthrough, while coordinated strikes by the Defense Forces have driven the Russian Black Sea Fleet from most of the western waters. Now, the "battle in the sky" will become the defining theater of military operations, deciding the outcome of the entire war. The Financial Times reports this, publishing Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s policy statements. According to the Ukrainian leader, the key factor in changing the strategic balance was the large-scale development of Ukraine's long-range unmanned aerial vehicle capabilities, which allow it to reliably strike military and energy targets deep behind enemy lines. Zelenskyy said the psychological impact of Ukraine's continued large-scale drone attacks on Moscow and St. Petersburg – along with the deepening economic fallout – would eventually change Putin's calculations.

"When it is no longer one hundred drones but one thousand flying towards Moscow... he will understand. Once he begins to feel it personally, once he begins to see it with his own eyes, you will see advisers urging him to relocate somewhere beyond the Urals," the president said. In his opinion, the further the dictator is from Moscow – "the closer the end of the war will be."

However, Ukraine remains critically vulnerable—a shortage of air defense systems against ballistic missiles. The last air raid on Kyiv, during which 29 ballistic missiles failed to intercept due to a shortage of PAC-3 interceptors for Patriot missile systems, vividly demonstrated the severity of this problem. Zelenskyy noted that interceptor deliveries sometimes meet needs "literally the day before an attack" and called on NATO allies at the Ankara summit to make immediate decisions. Despite the temporary air defense crisis, the president expressed confidence in victory, citing the increased scale of the technological response. He emphasized that the strikes on Crimea and the destruction of logistics on the peninsula clearly demonstrated Ukraine's ability to quickly take control of the skies at a specific location. The next stage will be a sharp increase in the intensity of air strikes on key Russian administrative centers. "When not a hundred drones, but a thousand, are flying toward Moscow… he will understand. As soon as he begins to feel it personally, as soon as he begins to see it with his own eyes, you will see his advisers urging him to move somewhere beyond the Urals. The further Putin is from Moscow, the closer the end of the war will be," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The head of state also touched on the results of his recent telephone conversations with Donald Trump. Zelenskyy expressed his belief that the American leader has taken a fresh look at the conflict's configuration and is striving to "be where success reigns," a move driven by both his personal ambitions and his election campaign. Notably, Trump himself simultaneously issued statements from Washington, telling reporters at the White House that the two sides are "much closer to the end of the war than it seems," as both Kyiv and Moscow are interested in a swift ceasefire.
