Recently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' unmanned aerial vehicles destroyed 10 Russian fuel tankers in the Sea of Azov. This event left a lasting impression on military experts. On the afternoon of July 7, SBS Commander Robert "Madyar" Brovdi released stunning footage of the destruction of eight tankers belonging to the Russian "shadow fleet" that were attempting to break into occupied Crimea. A bulk carrier and a Russian ferry were also hit. A couple of hours later, the officer reported the destruction of two more Russian vessels in the area. "We just 'lit up' two more tankers in the Sea of Azov. Numbers 9 and 10 for the current day, for a total of 12 vessels," the commander wrote . He promised to publish details and reports tomorrow. Israeli journalist Sergei Auslender compared this event to Tsushima, the Japanese fleet's defeat of the Russian Empire's 2nd Pacific Squadron, which decided the outcome of the Russo-Japanese War. "While everyone was watching with some astonishment the events in Omsk, which was attacked for the first time since the Kolchak era, another Tsushima occurred in the Sea of Azov. Ukrainian drones burned eight tankers, a bulk carrier, and a ferry. Ten vessels were lost, and there wasn't a single Ukrainian military personnel within hundreds of kilometers. And in Omsk, things are bad. The refinery is heavily damaged, and the consequences for Russian gasoline production could be quite fatal," the journalist wrote on Telegram . Journalist Ivan Yakovina was also strongly impressed. "This looks like something out of World War II—the near-destruction of a Nazi naval convoy by British aircraft. Excellent work!" he wrote on Telegram . Journalist Michael Naki stated that Ukraine has completely closed the Sea of Azov to Russians. "Madyar posted the results of the operation against the 'shadow fleet.' This isn't like the Europeans seizing a tanker once a month. The SBS struck eight tankers at once, as well as a bulk carrier and a ferry. This entire armada, apparently, was hit by SBS forces. The Sea of Azov is closed to Russians," he noted on Telegram . Meanwhile, Z-channels are expecting new attacks from Ukraine. "The organization of these tankers' operations is characteristic—a defenseless, dense mass of ships in the middle of the sea, a shooting gallery for Ukrainian FP-2 drone operators. There's no cover from the Black Sea Fleet, which has long been barely able to defend itself, nor are there any fire teams on the ships themselves. If previously they attacked in columns of tanks under drones, now, apparently, we'll be sailing in single-file formations under drones," wrote the propaganda channel "Military Informant."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that as part of intensifying attacks on Russian occupiers in annexed Crimea, Ukrainian Defense Forces have succeeded in slowing the militarization of the occupied peninsula. According to Zelenskyy, the Defense Forces initially focused on airstrikes against military and strategic targets in Novorossiysk, a key Russian city on the Black Sea for oil exports. The Kremlin spends the money earned from oil exports on continuing the war against Ukraine and on Russia's military-industrial complex. Following Novorossiysk, the Ukrainian Defense Forces focused on occupied Crimea. An operation against the Russian occupiers on the peninsula began "some time ago." Its goal is to slow the Russian militarization of Crimea. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are striking Russian military bases, warehouses, air defense systems, and airfields. Furthermore, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, using drones, cut off the "land corridor" from Russia to occupied Crimea, thereby blocking the enemy's logistics. Now, the Russian occupiers can only receive supplies from Russia via the Crimean Bridge or by sea.
