The Russians continue to lose Orion attack and reconnaissance drones. Specifically, on the night of June 23, Ukrainian special forces destroyed three such drones at an airfield in occupied Kerch. The Russians themselves are also destroying these UAVs.

OSINT analyst Special Kherson Cat posted a video on the social media platform X showing a Russian drone burning in a field. The drone was identified as an Orion.

Later, an OSINT analyst with the nickname Dominik determined that the drone crashed near the village of Ivanovka in Crimea, 13 km from Kerch and 11 km from the airfield where these drones are based. According to Defense Express , the occupiers have lost four Orions in the past week. These are the only known carriers of the Banderol cruise missiles.

Analysts noted that these missiles have a stealth profile and a range of up to 500 km. Their warhead is an OFBC-150 bomb. They are equipped with a Chinese Swiwin jet engine, which gives them a maximum speed of 650 km/h.

Analysts also noted the incident of friendly fire. They said this directly indicates the enemy's poor air defense capabilities.

In addition, analysts recalled that the Orion drone has a wingspan of 16.3 meters and a maximum takeoff weight of 1,000 kg. As a reminder, the Ukrainian Defense Forces previously destroyed the new Russian Sokol-I drone for the first time. The occupiers developed it to counter Ukrainian reconnaissance and attack UAVs.

The defeat was carried out by pilots of the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Koshevoy Ataman Kostya Gordienko, using the General Chereshnya AIR interceptor drone. The Sokol-I is one of the newest Russian developments in the interceptor drone segment. It was unveiled just about a month ago as a specialized counter-UAV system, but the Ukrainian military has already demonstrated its ability to effectively counter this new threat.

According to specifications reported by Russian media, the drone can reach speeds of up to 150 km/h, operate at altitudes of up to 5,000 meters, and has a foam body to reduce production costs. It can use a remote-detonating warhead or a kinetic interceptor to engage targets.

General Chereshnya notes that the successful interception of Sokol-I drones confirms the effectiveness of Ukrainian interceptor drones against both attack and reconnaissance UAVs, as well as new specialized Russian drones.

General Chereshnya AIR interceptor drones have already demonstrated their effectiveness against the mass-produced Russian Molniya-type drones, as according to the DELTA situational awareness system, they shoot down 44% of all Molniyas. This confirms the potential of developing a class of frontline interceptors to counter the growing threats posed by Russian UAVs.
