Hi, my name is Aloysius McElwain. I'm from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Grew up in North
Philly. And in college I was designing clothing and hand-painting t-shirts to make like extra
money for school. And that's kind of where it all started. So I've done over the years,
probably close to 400 murals in the city. There are about, I'd say 110 murals that are still up
and I've painted in 18 countries in 22 states. This mural is called Welcome to Philly.
We're at a like really cool time in the summer where you have the 250 celebration,
people are coming in town for FIFA. So, you know, we had a lot of wonderful organizations that got
together. The Sixers, the Flyers, Comcast, HBSC, Mural Arts, Streets Department got together.
It's like, let's do something really, really cool for the city and make this giant wall here.
So we're at a Tent and Market across from the Fashion District and right down the street from
City Hall. This took 14 workdays, working like 12 to 8. Used a ton of spray paint. I think I probably
used 350, 400 cans on this wall. I had some of my family members come out and help me with the
project too. It's a family fair, yeah. I love your style. Oh, thanks so much. Thank you. Lovely, y'all.
This is really nice. I'd say like every two to three minutes, people were coming by showing
love while I've been painting this. So it's just, just getting all that positivity has been really
cool. Beautiful, man. Thanks so much. Thank you. Yeah, this is a temporary mural. It's only up for
now. I'm not sure how long it's going to be up, but hopefully while it's up, it'll help people
celebrate 250 and just the spirit of Philadelphia.
