In the Polohovsk district of the Zaporizhzhia region, despite numerous assaults, Russian occupiers have failed to capture the village of Mala Tokmachka in four years . The Ukrainian Armed Forces are promptly identifying and eliminating the enemy. This was stated by Vladislav Voloshin, spokesman for the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine, during a telethon broadcast.

"Malaya Tokmachka. Everyone knows what Malaya Tokmachka is. It's a thorn in the side of the Russian aggressor's side. This is the settlement the enemy hasn't been able to take for four years, but has already taken several times with their words. The situation here changes little. As soon as the enemy approaches, we destroy them," the soldier said.

He also commented on the news that the 118th Separate Mechanized Brigade had been included in the Ukrainian Book of Records for holding the defense of Mala Tokmachka for over 1,500 days. Specifically, the press secretary was asked to explain the secret to their successful defense. "The secret of Malaya Tokmachka is that the Defense Forces are trying to identify the enemy at an early stage and prevent them from approaching this settlement," Voloshin emphasized.

In this case in a cornfield in eastern Ukraine, soldiers launched drones into the sky using a slingshot, targeting military installations in Russian-occupied territory, Reuters reports .

"We're focusing on enemy bases in the field, ammunition depots, and air defense systems," said a commander from the 1st Unmanned Systems Force Center, an elite drone unit who asked to be identified by the call sign "Kit."

The soldiers unpacked the drones from their crates and assembled them at the launch site. Using a laptop, a soldier programmed each drone to its target before loading it onto a catapult. According to journalists, the soldier started the propeller with an electric screwdriver, after which the drone took off. Reuters noted that Ukraine is investing significant resources in such "medium-range strikes," which target Russian air defense systems and military logistics at distances of 30 to 180 kilometers behind the front line. Specifically, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this month that the number of such attacks has quadrupled since February.

At the same time, Ukrainian officials and military analysts say such attacks are helping to slow Russian advances by changing the dynamics on the battlefield. According to a DeepState map based on open sources, Russia captured only about 50 square kilometers of territory this month.

"The enemy's rear is no longer a safe haven," Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said Wednesday, announcing the allocation of an additional 5 billion hryvnias ($113 million) to fund the most effective medium-range strike units.

Keith emphasized that this was just one of hundreds of similar combat missions. The commander says that Ukrainian-made drones, known as "Drakosha" or "little dragons," can strike any area of occupied Ukraine and even Russian territory.

"The range of action is large and it is constantly expanding," the military man added.

Defense analysts say such attacks alone cannot turn the tide of the war against Russia, but they have the added impact of facilitating long-range drone strikes that damage Russian oil infrastructure.

At the same time, Keith said that throughout the four-year war, one side periodically gained a technological advantage before the other side caught up.

"It's an ongoing process. As soon as we discover a technology, they develop a countermeasure," he emphasized, noting that Russia has extensive experience in air defense technology. "You can't underestimate the enemy," the defender concluded.
