AI GeneratedLing Qi from Oriental Art Supply introduces a beginner's guide to brush painting peonies. This session focuses on painting peony buds, demonstrating the process using different paper types and a specific color palette to achieve depth and variation in floral and leaf details.
Hello, this is Ling Qi. Brush painting for beginners from Oriental Art Supply.
This period of time we're going to get dedicated to peony which is one of the most popular
floral subjects and then it happened to right now it's just it's booming season. When you look at
the garden variety of peony that has all different shapes, different colors. If you
choose different ones to paint, you pretty much can do any floral you want to. Once you
get the hang of it you can actually paint a peony, one of the variety. So as this series
goes on we'll introduce several variety of peony. Today we're going to start with the
beginning which is a pair of peony buds and I have done it on shim paper and
semi-sized pre-mounted board which is a really good thing to do because
the subject, the composition is kind of square so if you get the board cut in half
with exactly the right size and then this right one I've done it on the
pea paper. These are the two paper we're going to introduce to you today.
The difference is the moisture control is different with the pea paper. For the advanced
printer artists you can actually do background around it. So for this subject by itself whether
it was the bud itself or the leaves you can use one brush to do the whole thing. So we'll try.
The color I'm using most chip color plus sakura white and indigo. So here is a sakura white
mixed in the dish like a milk type of shape, consistency and then this is the crimson
and this is the rouge. A lot of times people have the color chips too wet, too much liquid
and so this is the consistency you want. This is the chunk yellow with indigo, this is indigo
and this chunk yellow and bath bottle ink. So these four colors will be using for our leaves
and these three are we are going to use for the floral and I might do a little bit center
with the ink. So to start now I'm going to do on the double strand jade plate. It's one of the
best paper for beginner as well as the advanced people because it does give you a great deal of
color variation as well as easy to control the moisture. Basically I'm a pretty dry painter so
sometimes this paper kept me moving a little bit less fast. Just for clarity this is our premium
jade plate double strand. So I'm going to start with load my brush with sakura white
and then rinse the tip off and then dip with crimson and then rouge
little ink to darken it.
All right so then I'm going to do the bottom. Always rinse the top of the white off
before you load other colors so it doesn't get muddy. So this is my second smaller bud
so I'm going to use a little white with a little yellow chunk. I'm gonna rinse the tip off.
This is the holder of the bud and then green and indigo a little yellow and a little indigo
and then the base of the leaves then a darker leaf with a little ink.
So this I finished my peanut butt and jade plate.
