Grandma's recipe - German apple cake that delights the whole world! Juicy and very delicious!
This aromatic apple cake with quark filling and walnuts turns out incredibly soft, juicy and wonderfully homemade. The delicate yogurt-based dough harmonizes perfectly with caramelized apples, cinnamon and sweet raisins, while the airy quark cream gives the pastry a particularly creamy and delicate note. Crunchy walnuts also provide a pleasant texture and an intense flavor. A perfect cake to enjoy with tea or coffee – easy to prepare, beautifully cut, and wonderfully aromatic.

Recipe:
For the dough:
3 eggs
100 g Greek yogurt or sour cream (½ – ⅔ cup)
1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
100 g sugar (½ cup)
a pinch of salt
100 ml vegetable oil (½ cup)
zest of one lemon
250 g flour (approx. 2 cups)
2 teaspoons baking powder

For the filling:
2 apples
70 g raisins (½ cup)
2 tablespoons sugar
10 g cinnamon (1 teaspoon).
30 g vegetable oil (approx. 2 tbsp)
1 tsp cornstarch (approx. 1 tsp)
100 g walnuts (approx. 1 cup)

Cream:
200 g cottage cheese (1 jar or 7 ounces).
2 tablespoons sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
2 teaspoons cornstarch (approx. 2 tsp)

For sprinkling:
powdered sugar
Bake at 180 °C (356 °F) for 50–55 minutes.

Baking pan:
20 cm × 20 cm (approx. 7.9 × 7.9 inches)
