Villa SD - GHA Giordano Hadamik Architects - Liguria - Italy

Nestled among the hills of Bordighera, with views over the Gulf all the way to Monte Carlo, Villa Selvadolce presents itself as a modern stone villa that harmoniously integrates with the steep terraced landscape of Liguria, becoming an intrinsic part of it.

The natural stone facades feature large openings overlooking the valley and the sea, creating a continuous dialogue between architecture and nature. The semi-underground volume arranged on a single floor establishes a structural and visual connection with the surrounding land, while a central stone patio breaks the linearity of the elevation, acting as a mediating filter between interior and exterior spaces.

Upon entering the villa, the visitor is immediately welcomed by open courtyards that integrate natural sunlight, ventilation and exotic vegetation into the living spaces, leading to the heart of the building: the grand open-plan living area. Panoramic views and windows on every side naturally illuminate the circulation spaces, emphasizing the distributive axes of the modern home.

The living zone, complete with dining and relaxation area, is defined by a full-height glazed wall and corner windows spanning approximately 12 metres. The concealed frame enhances the sense of lightness and transparency, framing views over the swimming pool, patio, garden and the Ligurian landscape toward the sea.

The kitchen, framed by internal exotic gardens, keeps the entire living area naturally lit and immersed in nature. The dining area extends toward the outdoor patio, a stone structure with wooden brise-soleil blades and a rain cover when needed. On the left side of the plan lie the guest area with a study and two bedrooms overlooking the lawn; on the right, the master suite with private bathroom, dressing room and direct access to the pool solarium. Corridors and service areas are all naturally lit by large operable skylight patios.

The interior design takes a simple and timeless approach, using pure high-quality materials throughout: warm wood, natural stone and plaster render. Bespoke furniture in natural oak defines each space with understated elegance. Bathrooms clad in Botticino natural stone, furnished with oak vanities and stone sanitaryware, are lit from above by skylights that create a truly sensational atmosphere.

Villa Selvadolce represents excellence in contemporary residential architecture in Liguria, seamlessly integrating aesthetics, functionality and respect for the surrounding natural landscape, designed by Giordano Hadamik Architects.
