30 Days to Build a 4x4 F100 for the Indy 500
This 1973 Ford F100 4x4 has 30 days to make it to the Indy 500 — and we just finished our part of the build. Spencer walks through the complete FF Chassis, interior kit, and custom wiring harness we shipped out in two weeks flat, before the truck heads to Vantage for final assembly.
The customer is Desnuda Tequila, and they want this truck on display at the Indy 500 on May 25th — possibly even taking a lap around the track before the race. That gave Vantage roughly two weeks on their end to bolt everything together, paint it, sort the patina, and put real miles on it before it loads onto a trailer headed to Indianapolis.
Our side of the project covered a full 4x4 FF Chassis, a Gen 4 Coyote with 10R80 transmission, F-150-style electronic transfer case, Curry 9-inch axles front and rear, Wilwood 14-inch brakes, Locked Off-Road coilovers, and a complete stainless exhaust system. Spencer breaks down the parallel front four-link, triangulated rear four-link, RPM steering components, Whipple supercharger running 5-7 pounds of boost, and the returnless fuel system routed through the frame rail.
The interior is a full cradle-to-grave FF Interior Kit — bench seat, door panels, kick panels, headliner, sun visors, and carpet — designed by Logan with a Native American-inspired pattern that plays off the truck's turquoise faux patina paint. Custom wiring harness built from scratch by our electrical engineer Doug in one week.
Going from nothing to a complete chassis, interior, and harness in two weeks isn't normal. Neither is what Vantage is about to pull off in Indianapolis. We'll have a follow-up video once the truck is running and at the show.
