This is Fan Friday, isn't it? Is it Fan Friday? It is? This is Maya.
She's the Alaskan Malamute.
And she has a lot to say for her friends.
Is it Fan Friday? Say, it's Fan Friday!
Zach from Facebook says, can I have Shelby? No. Jamie says, can I have Oakley? No.
Rebecca says, can I have Shiloh? No. Sorry, you can't.
Sarah wants to know, have you guys ever had problems with your dogs taking food? Like, have you had problems with them not eating?
Shiloh is really good for that. Shiloh likes to not eat.
They also asked for some tips on how to get the dogs to eat. Sometimes if Shiloh won't eat,
we'll mix a little bit of rice in her food or a little bit of chicken broth and
sometimes that'll help her eat her food.
But Shiloh can be very very picky when it comes to food.
Unlike Oakley and Shelby who I think would eat just about anything and everything.
Victoria says, I have seen pictures of Huskies having the tail curled on their back, but your girls don't have their tails curled up.
Huh, that sure looks like a curled up tail to me.
Oh look, there's three curly tails. I see three curly tails.
Just because they don't hold their tails up and curled all the time, doesn't mean they don't have a curled tail.
They're just having a good time today, aren't they?
A lot of you asked the food question today though. What do you give your dogs when they won't eat?
What do you give your dogs when they have sensitive stomach issues, and what do you feed your dogs?
There are times when our girls won't eat.
Mainly Shiloh, like I said.
We feed them Canaday all life stages for hard food, all except for Shiloh who is on her special diet of
quinoa and rice.
If your dog has an upset stomach and doesn't want to eat, sometimes it's okay to let them not eat for a little bit.
You know, it's kind of... Think about how you feel when your stomach hurts, and you don't want to eat.
Christy Ann says, what do you experience when you run agility with your Siberians?
I run a little agility with mine,
but she thinks it's fun to just run a couple of laps around the course in between every other obstacle.
Do you complete or run courses? I'm a little unsure that mine will ever run a complete course.
It took a long time for us to get Shelby to do agility.
Don't give up. Huskies are very smart and they really do like to do agility,
but they take a lot more work than other breeds of dogs.
My biggest tip that I can give you,
take your dog for like a one mile hike or a two mile hike before you start training agility.
That way they're a little bit calmer.
They're a little bit more tired like Shelby's tired now because you guys saw she was running around with Oakley.
Now would be the perfect time to train her a little bit for agility because she's a little bit more tired.
If you can tire them out a little bit first, then work agility.
Eventually they'll get it and then you'll be able to take them and go do it even when they're not so tired.
But that's what I've noticed that helps Shelby focus is to wear her out.
Not completely, but a good amount before we do our agility training.
A few of you have asked what video program we use to do our videos.
We actually use Corel Video Pro X5.
We just upgraded to the newest version of X5.
And if you're looking to get a copy of it, if you go check out youtube.com slash heythatsmike.
I believe they're giving away five free copies.
So go over there, subscribe to the channel, check it out.
It should be yesterday's video. I think he talked about it a little bit.
So maybe go check it out.
Maybe you could win yourself a copy, but that's what we use.
A few of you this week have asked how early should I start training my new Husky puppy?
As early as you can. As soon as you get that puppy, go ahead and start working with training.
Simple commands like sit, wait, things like that.
Just very simple commands. Lay down.
Those are all very simple commands to teach a dog.
I'll have to show you guys how to do some of those one of these days.
Right Shelby? You'll have to do that.
I started training Shelby when she was eight weeks old and we went to our first puppy class.
She was 12 weeks old.
She wasn't very old when we actually started our puppy class and she learned a lot.
They'll learn real quick when they're puppies and don't ever stop training.
You know, Shiloh's 11 years old and I've still taught her a few new tricks.
Even though they aren't finished yet, according to Rebecca,
I wanted to share these two drawings that she's done so far of Shiloh and Shelby.
We didn't get any other mail today, so I figured I would show these to you guys.
We might eventually have to turn these into a t-shirt.
Thank you, Rebecca!
That's it for Fan Friday today, you guys.
Don't forget, if we didn't get to your question, you can go ahead and leave it again
and we'll try to get to it on one of our next videos.
I think that's it.
It's supposed to be hot this weekend, so hopefully we'll be able to fill up the pool and keep these girls cool.
Thanks for watching, you guys!
Don't forget, if you guys would like to send us anything in the mail,
our P.O. Box address is gone to the Snow Dogs, P.O. Box 12, Alpena, Michigan 49707.
If you have questions for Fan Friday, you can leave them on our Facebook page or on our Twitter page,
which are listed on the screen.
Thanks for watching, you guys!
Whoa!
Good girl!
