Today, we just want to say, it's Fan Friday!
Well, we were going to film Fan Friday outside, but if you can't tell by Oakley's dirty face, it's raining outside.
So, we're going to do it in here today.
Ryan wants to know, would you ever consider getting a Malamute instead of a Husky?
We're pretty sure, that Oakley is part Malamute.
So, she actually may be a... You have such a dirty face!
She may be a Malberian.
I like the Huskies, because they are a little bit smaller and they don't tend to drool as much.
Sometimes, Malamutes can be droolers.
Hence, another reason we think Oakley might be part Malamute, cause she's drooly!
Thanks for the up close shot Shelby!
Kevin wants to know, are you still using your doggy dooly septic tank?
What is your opinion of it now?
Aaliyah wants to know, where did you get your doggy dooly septic tank?
Yes, we are still using it.
What is my opinion on it?
I like it! You can't use it in the winter time.
It has to be above fifty degrees to be able to use it.
So, at the end of winter, when we do yard clean up, we pretty much bury everything that we pick up anyway.
But, we just started it back up and I really do enjoy it.
I'll put a link down in the video description, where you can order one from Amazon.
Farrah wants to know, do Huskies go into prey drive when they see small animals?
Not all Huskies are bad with small animals.
Shelby doesn't do real good with small animals.
But Oakley? She seems to do okay, unless it's like a bird or a squirrel.
She seems to want to chase those.
I don't think all Huskies go into prey drive, but it's definitely something you want to keep an eye on.
You want to watch them closely around smaller animals.
Big yawn!
David wants to know, when you got your Huskies as pups, were you both working full time jobs?
If so, how did that work out and did you have to leave them at day care?
Yes, we were both working full time jobs.
Fortunately, Jamie and I, our family owns a small deli here in town.
So, we were able to come home a few times during the day and let the dogs out of their crate when they were younger.
Which not everybody is able to do.
Most puppies will do okay, even if you're working a full time job.
It would be nice if you have somebody that can come and let them out about once every two hours.
But if not, just be prepared to possibly clean up a mess when you get home.
Nomar says, I trimmed the hairs between my Huskies toes and I noticed Oakley's hairy paws.
Is there a reason I shouldn't trim his toe hairs? I do it so he won't slide all over the house.
I try to keep our girls' toe hairs trimmed.
Shelby's are probably a little bit less so than Oakley's.
Oakley still has big time issues with her letting me touch her feet.
So, sometimes it can be a very large task to trim the fur on her feet.
Actually, a lot of the times what we do is Jamie... Hey! Scratching your head!
Jamie will actually pick her up and hold her with her feet dangling.
That's about the only way we can actually cut her nails and trim the hair off of her feet without her freaking out too much.
But yes, keeping the hair on their feet trimmed is a good idea.
It stops them from slipping and sliding all over the house.
It stops them from dragging so much dirt into the house and from things getting tangled and caught up in their feet.
So, it is a good idea.
Jamie says, I love working dogs like Huskies but I have a medium small dog with hunting breeds in it.
Do you think it could still work with the bike attachment for dogs?
Yes, actually you can pretty much... Any size dog will work with the Springer bike attachment.
If you guys are looking to purchase one directly from us, as of May 15th we're no longer going to be able to offer those on our website.
The company itself is having some issues with customs and things like that.
Very long story, but hopefully they're going to be able to bring their reseller program back.
If you want to get a Springer from us, from our website, you have to purchase it before May 15th.
Shelly says, Koaw has been acting out lately. He's our only Husky. Do you think he may be getting lonely?
I'm home 24-7. Would you recommend me trying to find another Husky?
Bless you! Bless you little face!
They do tend to do better when there's more than one of them.
They tend to keep each other occupied and for the times when you aren't home, they have, you know, a companion to keep them company.
So, you know, I always say that one is better than... or two is better than one and you know, three is better than two.
In the mail today, we got a letter from Brett and Brett says, happy 8th birthday Oakley!
Happy birthday from Brett. I don't have any food in my hand, really. I really don't.
We also got from YouTube user Creative Aternus, I think is how you say it.
This awesome sign that says, a spoiled rotten Husky lives here. I haven't taken it out of the package yet.
And a car magnet or adhesive, not a magnet. It says, screw work, let's go for a walk.
Does that sound like a good idea? Should we go for a walk?
Wanna go for a walk? But it's raining. We can't go for a walk in the rain.
Maybe we'll go for a walk at Home Depot. Do you wanna go Home Depot?
Maybe? Maybe Tractor Supply? Wanna go Tractor Supply?
Maybe. Maybe later.
And then, Oakley got a birthday card and a package from Dawn, Shae, Nico and Kaya.
It's a birthday present for you Oakley. Wanna see what's in the package? Huh?
Let's see what's in the package. Look at how cute these puppies are. Look how cute they are.
I'm sure Oakley will share with you Shelby. You don't have to look so sad.
Look at rope toys!
Shelby's like, I know what a rope toy is. Here you go.
These are actually for Oakley, but there's two. There's one for you.
Oakley picked up a rope toy. Oakley.
That honestly, I think is one of the first times I've seen her pick up a rope toy.
What is that? We'll put it in your kennel so Shelby can't take it from you.
You know there's more in here. I think she knows too. Come here fluffy butt.
Look at that! She's playing with a rope toy.
Check that out! Frosted birthday cookies!
Oooh! You can't eat it in a package.
I have to open it. Yeah, I have to open it, Oakley.
Hold on. Hold on. I'll open it.
You set the camera down and I'll open it. Those aren't for you. These are for her.
She might share one with you. She loves you.
You can't eat the package. Hold on. I'll open it.
Look at how cute that is. It even came with a little doggy shaped candle.
Let's see. Since it's your birthday, you get the big one.
You're welcome. Say thank you to everybody and we'll give you a little one.
Can you say thank you or are you just going to show everybody your fluffy butt?
She's like, no I'm just going to show everybody my fluffy butt.
Those are pretty cool.
Frosted birthday cookies from Mama Dave's.
We don't have a local dog bakery around here. Sometimes I wish I did though.
Maybe we'll have to open one.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes and the presents for Oakley.
