Is it Fan Friday? Say, It's Fan Friday!
Irene wants to know,
How do I stop my dog from eating things
when I take her on walks?
You need to teach your dog the on-by command.
As you pull them away from whatever they're trying to eat,
say on-by and keep them moving.
Eventually, they should catch on
and know what on-by means.
Roccio wants to know...
Roccio? I may have said that wrong.
If Shelby and Oakley get excited
when they see other dogs while walking?
Yes! They always get excited when they see other dogs
because they always think it's time to play.
Can you guys tell it's hot outside today?
Look at her panting! It's so hot!
Christopher wants to know,
if we ever owned any other kind of dog?
I grew up with St. Bernard's.
Jamie had a Cocker Spaniel
when he was little.
Between Jamie and I?
No! We always had Huskies.
Diane says,
Should I let my Husky have puppies
before I get her spayed?
You need to go watch Monday and Wednesday's video
from this week.
No! You don't need to let your dog have puppies
before you get her spayed.
Shelby didn't have puppies.
Shiloh didn't have puppies.
They'll be just fine if they don't have puppies
before they are spayed.
Shelly says, she saw a list that Huskies were on
that says, they are one of the top ten most feared dogs.
She wants to know what our opinion on that is
and if Huskies are good with children.
Umm...
I think a lot of people are afraid of the look of Huskies
because of their blue eyes,
because of their pointy ears, because they look like wolves.
A lot of people just...
You know, they aren't educated on the breed.
They can sometimes be afraid of them.
As for Huskies being good with children,
our dogs have always been really good with our nieces
and have been good with other kids that have come over to the house.
The biggest thing is,
is they are really hyper
and they can easily knock down small children.
You definitely don't want to let them be unattended with a child.
But our dogs have always been good with kids.
It really depends on the dog
and how you raise them.
But in general,
most Huskies are very good with children.
Lucia wants to know
if we have ever given our dogs dried fish for a treat.
Actually we have.
We've given both of the girls dried salmon treats.
They both actually really liked them.
That was one of Shiloh's favorite treats.
It was the dried salmon treats.
So yes, they have had them before.
And yes, they really did like it.
TierneyTT from Twitter
that's a lot of T's
wants to know if we have ever watched
Caesar Milan and what do we think of his training techniques?
Yes, we have watched
Caesar Milan the Dog Whisperer.
I think a lot of his techniques
can be very helpful
to owners, but I also think that
when done incorrectly
they're probably not the best things to do.
But I do like Caesar Milan.
I think he has a lot of really good techniques.
I have read, I think
I have all three of his books.
I've read his books.
I think he's a good trainer and I think that
some of his techniques can apply to everybody
and some of them can't.
Just kind of have to pick and choose which ones you want to use.
I'm sure if it was him doing it himself
you would have no problem.
But you doing it yourself,
you might not be able to do it as well as he does.
So in the mail today
we got some treats from our friend Denise.
You can check her out at
Facebook.com slash Denise's Canine Barkery.
And Denise
makes
homemade dog treats.
This is a mini banana loaf.
What? You want that?
Maybe we'll let you split that.
And then she also sent us
a bag of other treats. What?
What? Some pretzels
and some dog cookies.
You look like that looks really good to you.
You want to try it?
How about you try the mini banana loaf? Hold on.
I'll break it in half for you.
Alright, I broke it in half.
These are all natural treats that she makes.
There you go.
See what they think.
I think it's a winner.
Oakley's like, I'm eating this.
This is pawesome.
Apparently Shelby's going to eat hers up too.
Thank you for sending those Denise.
If you guys are ever looking for some treats
apparently they are Shelby
and Oakley approved.
You ate the whole thing.
Crazy dog.
We also got a letter in the mail today from FoxMonster14.
And this is their new
puppy. His name is
Jack and he wants to know
what if your dogs are afraid of thunder and lightning
what do you do to help them?
I actually don't have that problem with my dogs.
Neither of them are really afraid of thunder and lightning
but I have heard a lot of people use what's called
a thunder shirt to help
keep their dogs not so scared of thunder
and lightning. So that's something you could look into.
Other than that, I'm not really sure.
We also got this adorable
drawing from Giselle.
Apparently something over there caught their
attention. Must be the birds.
Try that again. The battery on my camera
died. Anyway, this is a drawing from
Giselle. Giselle says this is a picture of Oakley
even though it's brown. She didn't have any
black crayons to color her book.
And yes, the squirrel was up in the tree over there.
We have a squirrel feeder in the tree way out there.
The squirrel likes to come visit the dogs
and drive them insane. It's pretty funny.
That's all we have for Fan Friday
today you guys. Thanks for watching. Thanks for
subscribing. As you can tell, it's a little bit
warm out here today. Both the dogs are
really panting. Whoa! Focus camera!
There ya go!
Yeah, I think it's like 82F outside right now.
We might have to break out the pool
for the girls. They're both panting pretty good.
Anyway, thanks for
watching. Thanks for subscribing and
we'll see you on
Monday. Maybe tomorrow.
But probably on Monday.
Bye!
