So every time I go camping, you guys ask, how do we keep the dogs safe outside of the camper?
As you can tell, they're all super tired right now.
This is what we use.
This little line with all these little attachments.
Look it, Shelby's happy and Oakley's happy and Memphis is happy.
This is called a picket line. I'm gonna tell you a little bit about it.
And for those of you that are gonna ask, we got this picket line from Alpine Outfitters.
There'll be a link down in the video description to where you can buy it.
There's a few things you're gonna need though.
You're gonna need a couple of stakes or something to attach this to either the ground or your vehicle,
however you want to do it. We usually attach ours to the ground.
So I have these stakes here that need to be hammered in. So I have those and I have a hammer.
Now another option you can use is these
little things that you screw into the ground.
Sometimes I use those too.
But I actually like the ones you hammer into the ground better.
You want to make sure when you put them into the ground, you try to get that line as tight as you can.
This is the last day we're here.
So the line is a little bit looser than it was when we first put it in.
But you want to keep the line tight so the dogs aren't tripping over it.
Now when you order these lines, they come minimum of four dogs per line.
So this is a four dog line.
You of course can buy them with more and you can choose between a four foot or a five foot spacing.
I think mine is a four foot spacing.
You can also choose... These are your little tie outs.
You can also choose the length of these. When I first got mine, I just got the shortest length.
But over time I realized that was just too short for our dogs.
So I ended up ordering a little bit longer lines. These ones I believe are...
I think these are 18 inches and these are 36 inches.
I keep both of them on there.
Just for now because like I said, the longer ones are new and I wasn't sure how they were gonna work out.
So far I'm really happy with them.
The dogs can reach each other, but they don't tend to get tangled.
So I'm happy with the little bit longer lines.
Memphis is on a double line. So she has a little bit extra space.
Oakley's on a double line so she can reach the dirt.
This is what I mean by a double line. See, this was Oakley's original short line and then...
Put some new clips on it now. It's a little bit longer.
And I'm sure a lot of you are gonna be asking because as you can see, well Oakley's laying on the dirt.
But the other dogs are on our nice camp rug.
I'm sure some of you are gonna wonder, you know, what about them going to the bathroom?
Our dogs don't stay on the lines the entire time we're out here.
A lot of times, you know, we're out hiking, we're out doing stuff.
This is just to keep them all safe and from tangling into each other while they're actually at the campsite.
We've pretty much tried to train them not to go to the bathroom while on the line.
Oakley's line, we usually allow her to reach the dirt because she likes to dig.
So sometimes she'll go to the bathroom over on the dirt.
But the other dogs, just like when they're in the house, you know...
They'll let us know and we take them off the line and we'll take them usually either behind the camper or a little bit away from the camper so they can go to the bathroom, just so they don't go to the bathroom on the rug.
It's another thing you can work with them to train them.
Some people let their dogs go right on the line.
I don't like to do that because then they're laying down where they went to the bathroom and then you got stinky dogs and nobody wants a stinky dog in a camper.
So as you can see, our dogs are pretty happy on their line.
Of course, this is the last day here. They're all a little bit tired and ready to go home.
So there you go. You guys have been asking for a while for me to do an updated video on the Alpine Outfitters picket line.
Link down in the video description where you can get it.
Alpine Outfitters makes these as you order them. They're all handmade.
So sometimes they can take, you know, two weeks or so to get.
Sometimes a little bit longer depending on if it's sled dog racing season or not.
But they'll usually let you know how long it'll take to get.
I ordered my lines and I got them in like a week and a half. I got them really fast.
So there you go.
Totally worth it if you got multiple dogs and you're going camping.
I love it. You know, I found it.
We went to a sled dog race and I saw people that had these and I thought that'd be perfect for us.
So we got it. And see, this is my extra line that I don't have a dog attached to.
I just put it close to the end so that it's kind of out of the way.
But it runs pretty much the whole length of our camper.
Works out good for us.
These girls are getting ready to go home. Ready to go home?
