It's almost Christmas time and we wanted to make sure we got a new treat video up in time for you guys to be able
to make some awesome treats for your pets. We are gonna make
Christmas candy canes for the dogs
All right, let's get this party started get this party started, huh girls
Look at you. You're all cute with your little bells on
Okay, if you don't have a KitchenAid mixer, you can use a whisk
But since I got a KitchenAid mixer from Santa Claus last year, I'm gonna use this
First thing you're gonna need is three cups of all-purpose white flour
Then you need a half a cup of non-fat powdered milk and a half of a teaspoon of baking powder
And you're gonna want to whisk all that together
After that is done whisking together
You are gonna need one cup of warm water and one either chicken or beef bouillon cube. I used beef this time
What you want to do is you want to use the warm water and you want to stir that bouillon cube in until it is
completely dissolved
Pour it into this bowl
Make absolute sure
It's all stirred together. Now, you're gonna want to take two large eggs and add them to the water and bouillon mixture
All right, now we're gonna slowly add the liquid mixture to the dry mixture
Let it stir together a little bit there
I'll get the sticky off
I'm gonna get some sticky off
Shelby, you want to try some sticky? Come here, Shelby
Come here, Shelby
You're like, no, I'm hanging out by the heater over here. Here, try some sticky
Knead this together a little bit
You don't want your dough to be too sticky. You want it to be kind of dry, not super dry, but not super sticky either
So a little bit more flour and then kneading it around a little bit will definitely help
So you kind of want it like that. It's not...
We're making a mess. Kind of want it like this. It's not real sticky. It's not real wet
I think I got flour up Oakley's nose
And then we're just gonna
Get it out here on the table
And then we're gonna take
And we're gonna split this right down the middle
Right down the middle, I think
You want two dough balls of about equal size. That one's probably done
We got one dough ball
But now with this dough ball, we're gonna do something a little bit different
Make sure they're about the same size
All right, so we have our first dough ball, which is all done
Now we have our second dough ball, which as you can see, I've made a little well inside of now
We're gonna take this is optional
But I know my girls do fine with peppermint oil. So we're gonna add a half a teaspoon
Peppermint oil to the middle of that dough ball. Oh, smell the smell. Oh, that's pretty powerful smell, huh?
And we're also gonna take and again, this is optional also
Just a little bit of food coloring and put it into this
Well, you can also use a natural food coloring like you can use beet juice or whatever you want
But I'm just gonna use red food coloring. It's not a lot. The girls don't get food coloring very often. They'll be just fine. I
Don't have any gloves. So I'm gonna use these plastic bags as gloves to knead this dough
gonna cheat
When you're done, you should have a dough ball that looks fairly red
Now we're gonna take both of our dough balls
Put them in a bowl
And put them in the fridge for about two hours
Okay. Now we're supposed to take the dough balls now that they're cold and turn them into
tablespoon sized
Dough balls, so we rolled all the red dough out and we got three six nine twelve dough balls
Now we got to do the same thing with the white, but I think I'm gonna go rinse my hands first
So now we're gonna take these dough balls and we're gonna turn them into this
Basically, just gonna roll them out
Until we get them really nice and long
Might need a little bit more flour so they don't stick to your hands
Memphis does that look delicious?
She's like I'm gonna get some of that right right and basically the wax paper. I have is 12 inches wide
so I'm trying to get it about as long as
This piece of wax paper and once you have two that are about the same length, they should be about 12 inches
You're gonna twist them together
There's a lot of different techniques for this but I read that one of the best ones to do is literally just to twist them together
See how easy that was? Now that they're twisted together. We're gonna cut them in half pretty much right down the middle
Not the table just the candy canes
Then we're gonna take
We're kind of gonna bend them a little candy cane crook
That's what it's gonna look like and then we're gonna put them on the pan
So we've got some candy canes on the cookie sheets
Jingle jingle and now what we're gonna do is we're gonna take and we're gonna egg wash them
So we're gonna take this egg
We're gonna crack it open and then we're gonna just paint on all of these now
We're gonna stick them in the oven for 10 minutes at 350. You can't have any yet Memphis
Well, they look kind of glowy let's take them out
So, there we go. They're nice and glisteny now
I'm gonna put them on a cookie sheet and let them cool before before you get to try any you have to wait
I'm sorry
We got some candy cane treats for the dogs. We're gonna see what they think
Shelby, I think you're the only one that wants one. Are you the only one that wants one?
Oh, no, wait, you're right here and you're right here
Shelby first
There you go. Shelby takes so nice
There you go, you got it, you got it. What do you think Oakley? I love your scarf
They're not super crunchy treats. They're kind of soft on the inside
But I think they like them. Look at you Shelby's like I just got to eat it very gently
very gently
All right, you guys well, there you go down in the video description
There will be some link to some other holiday dog treats that we have made in the past including the gingerbread dog cookies
Let us know if you're gonna test these out with your pets
And if you do let us know what they think. I think our girls liked them considering they're looking for more
Merry Christmas you guys
Thanks for watching. Thanks for subscribing. Stay positive dream big and we'll see you soon
Shelby left already so
Goodbye!
