Make an Advent Calendar For Your Dog for Christmas 🎄 | DIY Dog Crafts

Guess what we're doing today? Wait a minute, that's not treats All right, you guys so you have been begging us to do other DIY type videos and since Christmas is just around the corner. I thought it would be fun to make a DIY Doggy advent calendar for those of you that don't know what an advent calendar is Basically what it is is it's a calendar and you have the dates. It'll be dated 1 to 24 and then you open up little doors and there's a little treats inside a lot of times with kids It's like chocolate or candy or a little toy We're gonna make one and we're gonna put dog treats in it and we're gonna show you how to do it I've never done this before so let's hope it turns out. Okay, you guys excited. I'm gonna try this. It'd be super fun Let's do it. Alright, so if you guys want a full materials list and everything you're gonna need for this There'll be a link to my blog down in the video description below You'll kind of figure it out as we go along but the first thing we're gonna need to do is have a nice big white piece of foam board and some Dixie cups and a pencil and what we're gonna do is we're gonna lay these out to make it look like a Christmas tree and then we're gonna outline it so we know how to cut it out Once we have this all laid out now, I'm gonna trace around it, but there's also gonna be a bow at the top So when I come up the top here, I'm gonna leave it pointy just like a real tree Now that it's all traced out. We're gonna cut out this piece of foam Look a Christmas tree probably not the straightest Christmas tree. I could have used a straight edge, but that's okay It looks like a tree and now we have to paint it to look like tree I have a paintbrush and some green paint and some brown paint and we're gonna paint the tree You cannot put your paw prints in the paint, right? I mean you probably could put your paw prints in the paint, but let's not It don't have to be perfect. But now it looks more like a tree So now while our beautifully imperfect tree is drying We're going to make the little advent calendar cups now. I have three dogs So I'm actually gonna be putting three treats in each of these cups. So you want to use something small? I bought a box of these milk bone dog treats. Yes. I know milk bones aren't the best dog treats for dogs But again moderation is key. It's not like they're getting a ton of them So I'll be putting three of these in each cup. I also have a bunch of other small treats So basically anything small if you have one dog You can put one big treat in here if you have a couple small dogs, you can do small treats But like I said, I have three so I want to make sure there's enough in here for everybody So I'm gonna use a small treat. The girls are like this is the part where we get to help, right? All right, I guess you can have a treat. You like a treat. Oh There you go. Do you like a treat? I know you want you gotta wait Patience Oakley gets the next one you want one like yeah, that's for one first So we're gonna take our cup and we're gonna put treats inside. There's three little treats in there Next we're gonna cut out a little bit of tissue paper. That's gonna go over the lids of the cups So you cut out a little square? Set that square on top of that cup take a rubber band Put it on the lid Write a number on it. This one can be number one You can write the numbers on them before you put them put them on here, too But they turn out pretty good if you do it this way as well. So write a number one on it Then I also have some cute little pipe cleaners Wrap the pipe cleaners around Just to add an extra little bit of color I'll actually trim these off when I'm done and then the idea behind it is on the day that you need to open you'll be able to go Any treats are inside so you tear it open and you'll be able to pull your treats out for your dogs And then that'll be on your calendar open Isn't that cute? Shelby's touching the paint and you're gonna want to make 24 of these little cups now that I've done quite a few of them. It's pretty simple cup put the cup down Put the tissue paper on top take the rubber band This is like a treat for me a treat for me and totally all about having a treat for me and then take this Wrap it around get it nice and tight Twist it twice. That's what I've been doing and then cut these off Then all I got to do is write the numbers on top Alright, we have all the cups filled now I'm going to number all of them. Now that we have all the cups done and the paint is fairly dry I'm gonna organize these onto our tree. They're also all numbered Before I actually glue them down I'm gonna kind of organize them here on the tree and figure out exactly where I want them to be Try to make sure that there aren't too many similar colors next to each other It's kind of gonna look something like this one. It's all Glued together and I'm gonna take the cups Flip them over hold my hand on them. So the treats don't come through the top a little bit of glue on the bottom Figure out where I want to go. Make sure the numbers are upright and then lightly Press down just keep working my way around what there's melon treats in here Like wait, we want to come help. We will totally help and test these treats and make sure all right I'm gonna keep gluing these and then we're gonna put the bow on now I just got to let the glue dry and I think we've done it. Well, there we have it It's all done I'm not quite sure where I'm gonna hang it yet. Thought about hanging it on the back of that door I'm not quite sure yet That turned out pretty darn cool And there you have it. We're all done with it I'm definitely not leaving it right there because I'm a hundred percent sure that some little noses Will be sniffing those cups a little too closely to try to get treats out So I'm gonna have to hang it up somewhere. I'm not quite sure yet my hanging up on the back of my door What do you guys think for me Matt not being a very crafty person I think that turned out pretty cute What do you think? The other thing I wanted to say I cut my Christmas tree kind of looks like an arrow you guys don't have to cut it Like an arrow you can make it look more like a tree and cut it in any shape you want Really make it look pretty cool All right, you guys we hope you enjoyed this DIY a doggy advent calendar video.
