What is this?
This is all three best kitchen helpers, not in the kitchen.
Today you guys,
we're making campfire food.
Welcome back to Snow Dogs Cooking, you guys. Today,
we're camping, RVing, whatever you want to call it. We're outside and we have to make dinner.
So, we thought it would be fun to show you guys how to make something on the fire.
We are actually making foil packet dinners today.
So that's what we're gonna show you. Now, if you're not camping,
you can make these on the grill pretty much the same way.
So if you don't want to do it over an open fire, do it on your grill.
But let's get to cooking. You're probably wondering what you're gonna need for this recipe. Look, I have it all right here.
You're gonna need chicken breasts.
You can either do two or four. If you're gonna do four, the amount of sauce I'm making will actually work for four.
I'm not cutting down the sauce because you know, I'm not going to. So you're gonna need four chicken breasts.
Like I said, I'm only using two. You're gonna need some soy sauce.
You're gonna need at least one red bell pepper or green or yellow, whatever one you like. Some
jarlik.
Jarlik, guys, travels well. Some pineapple and then barbecue sauce of your choice. Because this is a sweeter type of recipe,
I'm going with the Sweet Baby Ray's, but you pretty much can use whatever you want. That's it. That's all you need.
You're gonna need a cutting board. You're gonna need some utensils. You're gonna need some foil. Let's get to making.
The first thing we're gonna add is about a cup of barbecue sauce. One cup into the bowl. Here, there's some good lighting.
It's really barbecue sauce. Next, you're gonna add your jarlik. About like a teaspoon or so.
I don't know, some. To your heart's content. You know how it is with jarlik. This is soy sauce.
You're gonna need like two teaspoons, you know, measure it with your heart. That's about two teaspoons.
Looks good to me.
Then you're gonna take your 15 ounce can of pineapple and you are going to put all of the juice
into here.
So what I'm gonna do is open it very lightly. We're just gonna pour all of that juice
right into here and then we're gonna whisk all this together. That looks beautiful. Hey Jamie, come taste this.
Yeah, stick finger in it and taste it.
Jamie- Oh, I thought you said stir it.
Jess- No, taste it. Taste it.
That's gonna go on your chicken.
Jamie- Yeah, the pineapple is definitely a good sweetener.
Jess- Yeah, right? So that's gonna go on your chicken. I gotta cut this up.
Yeah, it's gonna be good. Are you excited now?
Yeah, I'm excited. This should be pretty good.
Take your bell pepper, wash it, cut it up. Now because I'm only making two chickens,
you only need half of your bell pepper.
But I'm gonna cut the rest of this up because I'll probably save quite a bit of this sauce and we may make this again
tomorrow depending on how good it turns out.
Are you protesting?
They're all protesting.
Jamie- I was trying to figure out what key to use.
Right?
We do have
extra bell pepper.
Memphis is first. Gosh, it's like you guys forget the order of everything.
Bell pepper for you. You're still not second.
Technically you are because you're second best kitchen helper ever and you usually get it second. So guess what?
You like it?
Very crunchy. How about you?
Very crunchy.
Okay.
She's like, that was so good, dad. Would you like one too?
Bell pepper.
On yourself? Okay. All right, time to assemble.
I'm probably gonna need Jamie's help to wrap these but we're gonna take our chicken.
We're gonna put it on the aluminum foil. We're gonna take and put
peppers on
both of them. So take your quarter of your bell pepper.
Put it on top of your chicken. Got that? There it is. There's some of that.
Now we have our canned pineapple. Put, you know, like four or five pieces of pineapple if you want on
both of them. Okay, I lied. Before you put your chicken in the center here, Memphis is like, I want some.
We're gonna put a spoonful of sauce
underneath the chicken. This makes it so we don't have to like take it out and flip the chicken.
Okay, so I picked up the chicken and I put some underneath and then I spooned some on top. How much?
I don't know. Like two or three tablespoons of sauce total and now we're going to attempt to wrap these
so that we can put them over there on the fire.
Let's see if we can do this. I did it!
Okay, now they're gonna go over there on the fire.
That's, that's the plan. I can do this.
Yeah, go ahead.
He's gonna put those on our grill rack for us.
Turn that towards the fire. We're gonna let this cook for seven minutes.
Now we're gonna flip that packet over, hopefully, and then we're gonna cook it for seven more minutes.
And then I do have a meat thermometer, so I won't make you eat raw chicken.
That's the plan. We're gonna see how this works. Look at them. They're like, excuse me,
we would like to eat all of the chickens. Thank you.
Oh, Kira, you're using your bed.
Sort of. It sounds like it's doing things.
Okay, sure does. Alright, we're gonna try to flip these. These dogs are toasted, man.
I almost forgot. You're gonna want rice. Because we're camping, I just got microwave rice.
We're gonna split this between the two of us. So when this is all done,
we're gonna put it on a bed of rice. You don't have to, but it's gonna be delicious.
That's also why I made some extra sauce. Because if I want extra sauce for my rice,
I can just heat that up in the microwave and put it on my rice. Come in and check in over here.
So I didn't show flipping it.
But what I did was, I opened up those packets and
flipped it instead of flipping the packets. Because we try to flip the packets, all the juice is gonna fall out.
Ask me how I found that out.
We're battling the sunset.
The joys of camping and cooking. I think we're gonna have enough daylight to get a nice thumbnail for this.
And the girls are pretty stinking happy.
I do have a thermometer. Always keep one of these in your RV. Because when you're cooking meat,
you want to make sure you're cooking it to the right temperature.
We're about ready...
to check this.
Almost. Almost.
Oh my goodness, I think we did it.
So we put our rice on our plate. We just checked our chicken temperature and it was just above 165.
So now we're gonna take a bunch of this juice and all that good stuff and put it right on top of this rice.
I think...
somebody woke up from her nap.
Weird. Oh, this is gonna be delicious. We are gonna take this inside and eat it though.
Oh my goodness. It smells delicious. It looks delicious.
We'll cut it up when we get inside.
Mmm-hmm. Can't wait to try it. All right, we cut up the chicken. Mm-hmm. You're already shoveling.
What's your consensus?
It's really good, isn't it?
Like you said, it's like a sweet and sour chicken.
It tastes like sweet and sour chicken.
It's called Hawaiian barbecue chicken.
Oh, yeah, this is going to become a normal at my house because I suck at making sweet and sour chicken.
So this...
definitely is gonna make it into the rotation of our meals. The dogs are like, can we have something?
Maybe I'll give you another green pepper. Look, there's Memphis under the table. Hi, baby girl.
You'll get one more green pepper. I promise.
Okay, I had some bell peppers still because I had extra because we only did two chickens. So I'm giving it to you.
With no cheating. I know you're supposed to be second in the cooking videos. Here you go.
Very crunchy.
Holy crunchy. Holy crunchiness. There, you got more bell peppers.
We beat the sunset. We had dinner. Now, of course, we have to walk dogs.
We hope you like the camping cooking series because we're hoping to do more of these.
Like we're hoping that we'll be able to do more of these for you guys.
Like I said, if you don't have an open fire, you can always do this on a grill pretty much the same way.
Or throw it on a crock pot. I don't know. Figure it out. This was really good though.
So we hope you guys enjoyed today's video. As always, thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for subscribing. Stay positive, dream big and we will see you again soon.
Good bye!
