They Cut Holes Into This House… On Purpose
#architecture #architecturedesign #modernarchitecture
At first, it looks like something is missing. Holes carved into the concrete roof. But in this house, that’s not a mistake. It’s the design.
The Tropical Shift House, in Malaysia, uses these openings to control light, airflow, and temperature.
Hot air rises and escapes through the roof. Cooler air moves in from below. The house ventilates itself.
Volumes shift, creating gaps, shade, and open transitions between spaces.
Nothing is fully closed. Everything works with the climate.
Instead of fighting heat, rain, and humidity… this house uses them as part of how it works.
