A Lightning Fast Ming Dynasty Saber - The LK Chen Twin Panther Dao

Let's take a closer look at this fantastic saber by LK Chen, the Twin Panthers Sha Yu Tao Dao (Shark Head Saber). The origins of this sword may have been an evolution of the yan Ling Dao design, but optimized for piercing and thrusting with a straight blade and clipped shark head. It could have been designed specifically to combat chain mail, to pierce through the links that wouldn't be cut by a typical slash. However, this sword could have also been worn by an official, not on the battlefield, but instead as an agile and vicious waist saber for self defense. Either way, I find this sword to be incredibly fun to work with and I highly recommend it to anyone who practices martial arts, historical reenactments, and backyard cutters alike!
