A Philadelphia restaurant and nightclub burned down in an early morning fire amid frigid temperatures early Friday morning.
Fire tore through a restaurant in Philadelphia's Juniata Park neighborhood this morning.
Firefighters were forced to battle both the flames and the elements this morning to try to bring that
blaze under control. Now thankfully no one was hurt. Let's get live right now to Action News
reporter Becca Hendrickson who's at the scene with the latest on this investigation. Becca.
Christy, yeah the wind and the bitter cold certainly didn't help firefighters with this
fight. It made it all the more challenging. You see Bella Vista Restaurant behind me. It is
ruined by that fire. Those towering flames tore through it leaving behind that charred mess.
Heavy winds fans the flames raging out of this Juniata Park bar and nightclub.
The bitter cold only added to the challenges for firefighters. Obviously with the freezing
conditions and the water creates a hazard for our responders. The fire at Bella Vista
Restaurant and nightclub broke out around 3 45 this morning. The towering flames brought nearly
a hundred firefighters to Whitaker and Hunting Park to help. This is quite the job right for
the put up of firefighters, EMTs and paramedics that show up here in freezing cold conditions
to put out a massive fire. Fire crusades started in the back of the building and no one was inside
at the time. The nightclub social media says it stays open late until about 2 30 a.m. The fire
began about an hour after. They just rebuilt it and I think it was open five six months ago.
Fennell Min owns a gas station next door. He says the nightclub has been undergoing renovations for
years. As the fire burned and the wind whipped he worried about it spreading to his own business
and the potential consequences. I just want to make sure everybody's safe. You know that was a
priority and make sure that you know hope and pray that they contain the fire and it doesn't
and thankfully firefighters did keep it from spreading. Now they have learned at this point
that the fire began in the back of the restaurant there but for now the cause is still under
investigation. The Philadelphia fire marshal on the case live here in Juniata Park, Becca
Hendrickson, Channel 6 Action News, Christy. They can pinpoint a cause, Becca, thank you.
