A raging fire destroyed the Bella Vista Restaurant and Nightclub in Philadelphia's Juniata Park section.
Breaking news now. Crews are still on the scene of a massive overnight restaurant fire in Philadelphia's Juniata Park neighborhood.
Take a look at this new video that's just in showing how intense the flames were at the Bella Vista restaurant and nightclub on Whitaker Avenue.
A member of the Philadelphia Second Alarmers captured this fire burning dangerously close to a gas station.
Look at those flames. They are raging.
They really are. The fire broke out around four this morning and the wind and the freezing temperatures have only made the battle harder.
Action News reporter Corey Davis is joining us there live right now. Corey, this restaurant has been left in ruins.
Tim and Alicia, yeah, it really is. It's destroyed after that fire.
Behind us here, firefighters still trying to spray hot spots on it or spray down hot spots on it right now.
The roof of this side of it is still up, but a lot of it collapsed further in the back there.
Chopper 6 above the fire that destroyed the Bella Vista restaurant and nightclub this morning.
This video from an Action News viewer showing flames shooting from the roof shortly after the fire broke out at around 345 this morning at Whitaker and Hunting Park Avenues.
Firefighters had to work as quickly as possible to prevent the fire from impacting the gas station next door.
Just like a typical row home in the middle of Philadelphia, we don't want it to spread to the left or to the right.
They also faced major challenges with strong winds and a wind chill of 10 degrees, creating dangerous conditions for first responders on scene.
They salted the roads to help reduce the amount of ice as trucks moved in and out of the area.
The below freezing temperatures also making matters more difficult inside the burning building.
As we're hitting this with water again, it's freezing out here.
So that water then turns to ice and it starts to become heavy on this restaurant, which gives in.
And back live here, Bella Vista is advertised as staying open until 2 30 in the morning,
but firefighters say they believe it might have closed a little earlier than that.
So they're double checking the time.
But as far as they know, no one was inside when the fire started.
They're telling us that also no one suffered sustained any injuries during all of this.
But once again, it was very, very frantic and emergent situation when it came to trying to get this under control and to not spread to that gas station next door.
