I prepare the casserole with juicy potatoes, seasoned ground beef, onions, garlic, and a creamy mixture of milk and crème fraîche. Everything goes into the oven and bakes until the cheese is melted to a wonderful golden brown—simply unbelievably delicious!

Ingredients (for 4 servings):
800 g potatoes (5 ½ cups)
400 g ground beef (14 oz)
1 onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, chopped
2 tbsp vegetable oil
Salt and pepper
1 tsp paprika powder
200 g crème fraîche (¾ cup + 2 tbsp)
150 ml milk (⅔ cup)
150 g grated cheese (1 ½ cups, e.g. Gouda or Emmental)
2 tbsp parsley, chopped
1 egg
