Senators to Vote on Reopening Government, Weighing New Deal

Senators are expected to meet this afternoon for a 15th vote on reopening the government. Leadership is eyeing a mini-package that would fully fund parts of the government while patching funds for the rest until January, plus a promised Obamacare vote.

A key Democratic negotiator told reporters he doesn't expect the shutdown to end soon because Democrats "have to make sure we have a deal that we can get broad support for.”

It's unclear what Republicans plan to do if today's vote fails again. If Senators don't see any hope for a deal coming to fruition, they could leave Washington for the next week.
