NTD was live outside the courthouse where Tyler Robinson, 23, who was charged with aggravated murder for the assassination of Charlie Kirk last year, attended the first day of a weeklong preliminary hearing. Utah prosecutors will present evidence to the judge to determine whether there is enough to move the case forward to trial. Two witnesses were called on to testify and describe what they experienced on the day of the assassination.
President Donald Trump issues a fierce rebuke to communism as he celebrates the official launch of Trump accounts. Trump called these accounts the ultimate weapon against the ideology he says threatens American freedom. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent opened the ceremony and encouraged parents to take advantage of the newly launched investment opportunity to help their children.
"The American dream belongs to every child, and today we are equipping the next generation with the right to claim their rightful share of it," Bessent said.
FIFA rejects Belgium's appeal of the organization's decision to allow U.S. striker Folarin Balogun to play in Monday's World Cup match against Belgium despite receiving a red card in the American team's previous game. Trump said on Monday that he called FIFA's president Gianni Infantino about the red card and asked for a review.

This is NTV Evening News, live from our global headquarters in New York City, here's Kerry
Dunst.
Good evening.
Thank you for joining us tonight.
President Trump giving a fierce rebuke to communism as he celebrates the launch of Trump
accounts and the president declaring these accounts will give every child a head start
in capitalism.
We now go live to NTV's White House correspondent, Mari Otsu.
Mari, good evening.
Hey, Kerry.
Good evening to you.
That's right.
A historic day this morning at the White House with President Trump ringing the opening bell
of the stock market at 930 here and a first of a kind joint ceremony with the New York
Stock Exchange and NASDAQ.
Now this is coming as the Treasury Department on the 4th of July officially launched these
Trump accounts.
But Kerry, starting today, parents can actually start tracking these investments on those
accounts for their kids.
So these Trump accounts are available to anyone up to the age of 18 and for babies born between
2025 to 2028.
The accounts are kick-started by a $1,000 donation from the U.S. Treasury and then families
can contribute anything up to $5,000 per year there.
The Treasury Department says that over 6 million kids have already signed up for these accounts
and here's President Trump today saying the lesson that he hopes these kids will gain
from having these Trump accounts.
Take a look.
It's going to teach children to be entrepreneurial as opposed to the threat of communism that
you're seeing a lot.
This is not social Democrats, by the way.
That's a beautiful.
We're social Democrats, they say.
They're not social.
They're communists.
They want to destroy our country.
We're not going to let that happen.
Trump accounts are in many ways Donald Trump's New Deal.
But instead of having government taking care of everyone, Trump accounts are about making
every child and every American a capitalist.
That is transformational.
That changes the way every child looks at the world and the ability to accumulate life-transforming
savings, hundreds of thousands, millions of dollars for the kids of single moms.
That is powerful.
Now, these comments from President Trump and Senator Cruz are coming as President Trump
had many harsh condemnations for communism over the July 4th weekend, both during his
remarks at the Mount Rushmore celebration and then on the mall on July 4th, President
Trump essentially saying that our country is at a turning point, that everyone needs
to decide between being a communist and a patriot and that you can't be both at the
same time.
The president today also declaring that these Trump accounts are a direct antidote to such
an ideology by serving as a kind of economic bulwark to instill capitalism and patriotism
in the next generation.
Now, this is also coming as President Trump is announcing that for America's 250th birthday,
Walmart will be lowering the prices by a lot on many of their products, for example, dropping
the price of ground beef by up to 15%.
The president also declaring in the same message there that just as he promised, oil prices
will be plummeting fast and gas prices at the pump are also dropping too.
He's making this announcement amid that 60-day ceasefire between the US and Iran that opened
the Strait of Hormuz, although President Trump today still had a fresh warning for the regime
saying that the right deal needs to be made within these 60 days, especially in regards
to their nuclear program, and if not, he's still warning that they will face further
military consequences.
Take a look.
They have to make the right deal because they cannot have a nuclear weapon.
They cannot have a nuclear weapon.
It's very simple.
You want to see a bad stock market, let them use a nuclear weapon.
I'll show you a bad stock market, right?
So but we're doing very well.
They've agreed to a lot of things that a lot of people said they wouldn't agree to.
We'll see what happens.
We're going to win one way or the other.
We'll win the nice way or the not nice way.
Now, Iran is sure to be central to discussions in Turkey.
President Trump is heading to the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey tonight, where tomorrow
afternoon he will be greeted by President Erdogan there, sit down for a bilateral meeting
with him before having a social dinner with all of the NATO leaders.
And then the next day, Wednesday, President Trump will have a bilateral sit down with
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, a working lunch with all of the NATO leaders.
And then he'll be holding a press conference there.
And Ankara U.S. officials do tell us that a major part of this NATO summit for the U.S.
will be that President Trump is expected to do a posture review as the U.S. is trying
to shift the NATO defense burden to Europe.
Back to you.
Back to Jenda for the president.
Thank you, Mari.
An illegal immigrant truck driver charged in the death of a Pennsylvania state trooper.
The Department of Homeland Security says the suspect entered the country illegally in 2024
and received a commercial driver's license from Massachusetts a year later.
Entity correspondent Jason Blair has more.
He was a good man and he was a good cop.
And he was taken from us far too soon.
Pennsylvania state trooper Michael Beharra Jr. died after he was hit by a truck on the
side of Interstate 81 during a commercial vehicle inspection.
He had just moved back in with his folks because his mom is battling cancer and he wanted to
be closer to her.
The Department of Homeland Security says the truck driver, 33-year-old Michael Bond, is
an illegal immigrant from Haiti.
Bond is charged with homicide by a vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving
and other counts.
He's being held on a $700,000 bail.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer asking Pennsylvania officials not
to release him.
Acting Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Lauren Biss said in a statement,
This Haitian illegal alien was released into our country by the Biden administration and
the Sanctuary State of Massachusetts gave him a commercial driver's license.
Illegal aliens should not be driving trucks on American highways.
Our hearts and prayers go out to his family.
Former DHS Deputy Assistant Secretary Jonathan Fahey tells Fox that giving commercial driver's
licenses to illegal immigrants is hazardous.
I think there's been about 17 of these fatal crashes just last year involving illegal aliens
driving CDLs and it really just shows how dangerous it is.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy posted these senseless tragedies are why I am working
my heart out to change the policies that encouraged illegal drivers, enabled shady truck schools
and drove down the wages for American truckers.
Duffy and the Department of Transportation have been tightening restrictions on commercial
driver's licenses throughout the nation.
Crash suspect Michael Bond's next court date is July 15th.
Reporting in Washington, D.C., Jason Blair, NTD News.
Cuba's electrical grid today totally collapsing, leaving about 10 million without power.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio had previously blamed Cuba's communist regime for the country's
chronic power outages and NTD's Jason Perry has more on that.
Cuba's national electric grid collapsing on Monday.
The country's grid operators said it happened in the middle of the day, leaving around 10
million people on the island without power.
However, nearly two-thirds of the communist-run country was already without power when the
grid collapsed.
The last nationwide electrical blackout on the island was just a few months ago in March.
And now that it's summertime, Cuba's nationwide power outage is making it impossible for many
people to work or sleep as they deal with the heat.
Public transportation has largely been halted, and hospitals are impacted as well, as officials
have canceled tens of thousands of surgeries.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio in May speaking in Spanish to the Cuban people about their
electricity issues.
The reason you are forced to survive 22 hours a day without electricity is not due to an
oil blockade by the U.S.
As you know better than anyone, you have been suffering from blackouts for years.
The real reason you don't have electricity, fuel, or food is because those who control
your country have plundered billions of dollars, but nothing has been used to help the people.
Rubio giving more details on the situation in Cuba.
Thirty years ago, Raul Castro founded a company called Geisa.
This company is owned and operated by the armed forces and has revenues three times
greater than your current government's budget.
Instead of using the money to maintain and modernize the damaged power plants, they use
the money to build more hotels for foreigners and to send their relatives to live in luxury
in Madrid and even here in the United States.
Rubio added that the Cuban regime is no longer able to get free oil from former Venezuelan
leaders Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro.
At the same time, Cuba produces less than half of the fuel it actually needs.
On Monday, Cuba's state-run electric union saying on X that the country's nationwide
electricity blackout is currently under investigation.

A Chinese pastor finally reunited with his family after nine months in prison.
Underground church pastor Ezra Jin Mingri is now free in the U.S.
About two months ago, President Trump said he personally raised Pastor Jin's case with
Chinese regime leader Xi Jinping.
In a statement, Pastor Jin's daughter said, quote, we truly witnessed a miracle and we
are feeling so overwhelmed with joy.
She thanked President Trump and his administration for their leadership, saying, we hope this
is a signal of a positive turn for people of faith in China in relations between our
two nations.
Pastor Ezra Jin is the founder of Zion Church in Beijing.
He was arrested last October alongside 17 other church leaders.
The officially atheist Chinese Communist Party views organized religion as a potential threat
to its hold on power.
Human rights advocates are now calling for the freedom of the remaining church members
who are still in prison.
And America's European and Canadian allies are increasing their defense spending as the
U.S. pushes NATO countries to take more responsibility for their own national defense.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte saying Allied nations have upped spending to around 4% of
their gross domestic product.
After years of underinvestment, we are producing real capabilities.
European allies and Canada are now on a trajectory to equalize the defense spending with the
United States.
And not just that, they are taking on more leadership within NATO's command and control
structure, stepping up on conventional defense, on efforts to bolster our deterrence in defense,
including along the entire eastern flank in the Baltic region and the Arctic, and spearheading
support to Ukraine.
Rutte said that European nations and Canada spend nearly 20% more on defense last year
than the year before.
The NATO Secretary General added that 2025 and 2026 combined marked $258 billion in extra investment.
At last year's summit, NATO countries agreed to increase their overall defense spending
to 5% of GDP by 2035.
Rutte said NATO countries will announce tens of billions of dollars in new contracts at
a defense industry forum tomorrow.
In a crucial time for NATO, will Trump bring down the hammer on defense spending benchmarks?
And will we see any progress on the Russia-Ukraine talks?
Don't miss the analysis tonight on Capital Report at 7 p.m. Eastern, just after Evening News.
And Canada has selected Germany's ThyssenKrupp marine systems to build 12 submarines.
The decision marks one of Canada's largest military purchases as the country boosts its
own defense spending to meet NATO targets.
In less than a year, we've received, reviewed, and selected bids for the most consequential
defense procurement in Canadian history, fully five years ahead of the original schedule.
It's a partnership with Canadian companies and workers.
It creates sovereign sustainment, meaning Canada will maintain and support these capabilities
for generations, maximizing those long-term impacts.
In the Arctic, and on NATO's western flank, Canada is taking a leadership role.
These new submarines, combined with the world's second largest fleet of icebreakers, combined
with new aircraft, new radar, more missiles and drones, better cyber defenses, new ports
and air bases, are allowing Canada to assert our full sovereignty in the Arctic.
The new fleet will replace Canada's four aging Victoria-class submarines.
The announcement comes as Prime Minister Mark Carney heads to this week's NATO summit.
The allies are facing pressure from the U.S. to increase their own defense spending, as
well as take more responsibility for their own national defense.
Carney has pledged to raise defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2035.
Canada reached NATO's previous 2% spending target this year.
And today marks the start of the preliminary hearing for 23-year-old Tyler Robinson.
He's the man accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk.
Prosecutors are beginning to present their evidence inside a Utah courtroom.
And today's Christina Corona is live now outside the courthouse with the latest.
Christina, what are you seeing today?
Good afternoon to you.
That's right. We're outside the 4th District Courthouse in Provo, Utah, where Charlie Kirk's
widow, Erica Kirk, and Charlie's parents are currently inside the courtroom listening as
prosecutors are laying out evidence to the judge in their case against 23-year-old Tyler
Robinson, who is accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk.
Prosecutors called their first witness to the stand, which was Officer Chris Bagley,
who was a Utah University police officer during the time of the assassination.
Bagley described the day that Charlie Kirk arrived on campus.
He said that Charlie Kirk had a meet-and-greet with some students.
He also took photos with some students before heading to the tent,
where he started answering students' questions as he normally did.
Bagley also described the moment when one student asked Charlie Kirk a question,
and what he said sounded like gunshots.
Let's take a look.
You mentioned, so you mentioned you heard something.
What did you hear again?
I heard a gunshot.
Okay.
And can you describe, you described Mr. Kirk's reaction.
Was that simultaneous to hearing the gunshot?
Yes, it was.
When he fell to the left?
Yes.
Did you see the reaction from the crowd?
Yes.
What was that?
Everybody kind of got up.
They all said, a lot of people were screaming, standing up,
and starting to run in all different directions away from the center of the tent.
Okay.
Bagley said he then ran toward the crowd to stop the shooter,
but then he said he got notified on the radio that the shooter was already in custody.
Bagley said he then decided to observe the rooftops of the buildings,
where in one particular rooftop, he saw something that was out of place,
which was a red and black screwdriver.
He also mentioned that he saw disrupted gravel,
which what he called was a sniper pod,
facing towards Charlie Kirk's tent in the middle of the campus.
Prosecutors also called a second witness, Officer David Hull,
who was an investigator with the SBI Major Crimes Unit
during the time of the assassination,
who said he saw Robinson on campus several times that day.
Let's take a look.
Were you able to determine at what time or times
Mr. Robinson visited the UVU campus on September 10th?
Yeah, we were able to establish that Mr. Robinson had been on campus
approximately four times throughout the day,
twice before the shooting, the time of the shooting,
and then after the shooting later in the evening into the early hours of the 11th.
Now, the judge did allow video footage of the shooting to be played in court,
but prohibited it from being live streamed to the public.
We also got reports that Erica Kirk was seen crying before the hearing
and that she had to leave during the court hearing
when they were describing the moments of the shooting.
Back to you.
Christina, chilling testimony inside the courthouse.
Have we been able to see Tyler Robinson during today's hearing?
And if so, how did he appear?
Now, the judge is very strict on what media can and cannot show.
The camera in the courtroom showing the live stream
is in the very far corner, so we can only see the face of the judge
and the witnesses and the back of the attorneys.
However, we are able to see Tyler Robinson.
He turned to the left a few times.
He seemed very calm.
He is wearing a beige gray shirt.
He was alert and was seen taking notes when the witnesses were speaking.
Back to you.
And Christina, one other question for you while we have you.
What else can we expect as the hearing continues throughout the week?
Well, prosecutors say they have a total of four witnesses this week
and expect to show at least 40 to 50 exhibits during this case.
And by the end of the week, the judge is expected to make a decision
if there's enough evidence to move forward to a trial in front of a jury.
Back to you.
Thank you so much. Christina Corona reporting live from Utah.

Welcome back to NTD Evening News.
I'm Kerry Dunst.
At least 11 are dead in Kiev as Russia attacks Ukraine's capital city now
for the second time in less than a week.
Ukraine keeps targeting Russia's fuel supply.
NTD's international correspondent, Ariam Pazdar, has the war update.
Explosions are heard off Kiev on Monday after another Russian attack.
Ukrainian officials say at least 11 people are dead and 24 are injured.
Four residential buildings have been struck in one of the historic city districts.
Everything was on fire.
We live on 19th floor and all the windows were blown out.
All the windows in the house were blown out and the whole house was in smoke.
We were coming down and we even could not use the fire stairs
because there were no windows and everything was in smoke.
This attack comes just a few days after a Russian strike
killed 31 civilians in Kiev on Thursday,
the deadliest day for the capital this year.
Russia says its attacks come in response to Ukraine
launching multiple long-range strikes against Russia,
targeting oil refineries.
That happened again on Monday,
as Ukrainian drones struck Russia's largest refinery.
The Omsk refinery is located deep in Siberia.
The attack might be one of the longest-ranged Ukrainian strikes
since the beginning of the war.
The now frequent attacks are causing fuel shortages.
I've been here for an hour already.
I was in the queue for an hour
and I'll probably be here another hour till they open.
Both sides justify the attacks by saying the pressure
will create a better situation for peace talks.
Arien Pastar, NTD News.
China is ramping up military activity across the Pacific.
Test launching an intercontinental ballistic missile.
This comes as U.S. allies move to strengthen their own defenses.
NTD's Washington correspondent Jack Bradley has more.
The timing isn't subtle.
Just hours after Australia and Fiji
signed a landmark defense agreement
promising to come to each other's aid
if either nations attacked,
China launched an intercontinental ballistic missile
from a nuclear submarine into the South Pacific.
Australian officials say Beijing notified them ahead of the launch
but still condemned the move.
Australia has been clear with China
that we regard this as destabilizing to the region.
Australia's new agreement with Fiji is its latest effort
to strengthen military partnerships in the Pacific
to counter China's growing influence
after signing similar deals with Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu.
There's no higher obligation
than to come to each other's aid at a time of need.
Meanwhile, this week, China and Russia
are holding joint naval exercises
off of China's eastern coast near Qingdao,
part of an annual military partnership
that both countries are demonstrating
their strategic cooperation.
But Taiwan is watching this closely
in case China decides to turn
one of these routine military drills into an actual attack.
Taiwanese officials are tracking
more than 100 Chinese military ships
currently operating across the first island chain.
And Taiwan is also reviving its anti-communist patriotic classes
for military graduates for the first time in nearly 25 years.
They say future officers need a clearer understanding
of the threat posed by Beijing.
It has been an area of competition.
Of course, the PRC continues to champion
their form of socialism and communism.
While in Taiwan, we stand with our belief
that economic freedom, market economics,
in addition to the political freedoms
that are so important to our society,
are really what delivers to the needs of the people.
Now, taken together, tensions across the Indo-Pacific
are accelerating, with countries in the region
preparing for a more confrontational future.
For NTD News, I'm Jack Bradley.
The Chinese communist regime's new ethnic unity law
went into effect this month,
but Tibetans are uniting to denounce the mandate.
NTD's David Lam reports.
People around the world are speaking out
against Beijing's new mandate.
In a viral ex-post by user AlphaWolf,
young Tibetans are seen tearing up copies of Beijing's new law
and calling on others to stand up against it.
My name is Tenzin Gangwa.
I'm from Newcastle, Australia,
and I reject the ethnic unity laws.
My name is Nima. I'm from England.
My name is Tenzin Vesel. I'm from India.
I'm from Melbourne, Australia.
I'm a Tibetan, and I reject the ethnic unity law.
China's national policy, called the Ethnic Unity Law,
took effect on July 1st,
mandating cultural assimilation
from China's 56 officially recognized ethnic groups.
Karl Minzner, a senior fellow with the Council on Foreign Relations,
says the law enshrines a decades-long shift
towards aggressive assimilationist policies,
reflecting the ideology of the Chinese Communist Party.
The law came into force on July 1st
and will only increase surveillance and oppression
for Tibetans inside Tibet, but also for us exiled Tibetans.
I reject China's Ethnic Unity Law
and call on international governments to reject
and make a statement against China's Ethnic Unity Law.
Legal experts warn that the law's vague language
reaches beyond China's borders,
giving the Chinese regime grounds to target people
anywhere in the world,
including supporters of Taiwan
and people living in the United States.
Recently in New York, a Tibetan activist
expressed opposition to the law
by self-immolating near the United Nations headquarters.
He later died.
For decades now, the Chinese Communist Party
has held violent persecution campaigns against faith groups,
including Tibetans, Christians, and Falun Gong practitioners,
including even pro-democracy activists.

Welcome back to NCD Evening News, I'm Kerry Dunst.
House Republicans say they'll make another push
to pass the Save America Act when Congress returns,
while also looking at ways
to address birthright citizenship.
NCD's Chris Bobb brings us more.
America is back, and we wanna keep America great,
and we will do so by approving the Save America Act,
which means all voters must show voter ID.
All voters must provide a little thing
called proof of citizenship.
And there will be no mail-in ballots
except for illness, disability,
military deployment, or travel.
President Trump pushed the Save America Act
in his 4th of July speech,
and speaking on Fox News Sunday,
House Speaker Mike Johnson said Republicans
will try to pass the Save America Act
through Reconciliation 3.0
after returning to Washington.
Representative Ana Paulina Luta,
a leading voice among House members,
insisting no major legislation
without the Save America Act,
posted on X Thursday, urging GOP leaders
to attach it to must-pass bills,
including the NDAA and FISA,
writing, quote, our frontline members
promised this to their voters, let's deliver.
The big urgency is to get Save America passed.
The president has that as a top priority,
and so do I.
We passed it three times in the House.
We're gonna try one more time
on a budget reconciliation bill,
and I think that will be the way
to get it through the Senate,
and finally to the president's desk,
so that's forthcoming.
Johnson also says lawmakers
are examining legislative options
on birthright citizenship
after the Supreme Court's recent ruling.
I used to litigate constitutional law cases,
so I really enjoyed Justice Clarence Thomas' dissent.
It's, everybody should read that, must read.
And he explained that the 14th Amendment,
the original intent was to enhance
and really value citizenship,
and it's been devalued because of birthright tourism,
which is what we have now.
It's a threat to the rule of law and national security.
We do need to address it.
We're looking at all angles.
If there's some legislative fix,
we'll advance that immediately.
If it's a constitutional amendment, as you know,
it takes a little more time.
The debate also playing out on social media.
Senator Rand Paul posting on ExMonday, quote,
the only lasting fix for birthright citizenship
runs through the amendment process.
I introduced a constitutional amendment
to fix this months ago.
New Jersey Democrat Cory Booker posting Monday, quote,
birthright citizenship is the 14th Amendment's
sacred promise, written in the blood of the Civil War,
that every single child born on American soil
is an American, full stop, no except for, no asterisks.
The House and Senate are both scheduled
to return to Washington on July 13th.
Chris Bobb, NTD News.
And President Trump ringing a specially designed bell
this morning to simultaneously open
the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ.
It was part of an Oval Office ceremony
to launch investment accounts for children
across the nation.
Joining us now to discuss is Michael Bussler,
economist, public policy analyst,
and professor of finance at Stockton University.
Michael, thanks for joining this evening.
What, in your view, is the significance
of these Trump accounts?
I think this is a marvelous idea.
So every child born during,
essentially during the four years Trump's in office
will get $1,000 in an account.
The account will be invested in what's called an index fund,
which is kind of a mutual fund index to the S&P 500.
So over time, the money will grow as the stock market grows.
In addition to that, you can put up to $5,000 in each year.
Doesn't have to be that much, but you can put in.
So even if kids, you know, you get a little money
at the birthday, you get a little money
for mowing the lawn or something,
instead of just blowing that,
you put that money into the account,
and then all these kids will have phones and everything.
You can see that money grows.
And then when you hear Apple just came out
with the new iPhone 18 and their stock went up 5%,
you can say, hey, I own some Apple.
So mine went up 5% too.
What it'll do, it'll teach children
about how the system works.
And it's really coming at a good time
because really our K through 12 education
doesn't really teach the benefits of capitalism
and how capitalists are bad people.
Well, once these kids invest their capital,
they're capitalists.
So they can see that capitalists are just regular people
trying to make a return.
Yeah.
And America's major government run savings program
is social security.
So how do Trump accounts fit into the picture then?
Well, social security is a whole nother problem
that Congress must address immediately.
They keep kicking the can down the road
with social security.
And it is a system that will probably not be able
to make full benefits within the next,
I don't know, three, four, five years.
So they have to do something
which there are no good solutions to.
But keeping that aside for a minute.
So with these Trump accounts,
if somebody puts $1,000, gets $1,000 account,
and they throw a few hundred hours in every year,
by the time they, and don't touch it,
by the time they retire when they're 70,
they could have a million dollars or more.
So that becomes your own private retirement account,
especially if you're a little leery
about the future prospects of social security system.
So it's real good to that effect also.
And I believe one of Besson's comments today
was that approximately 30% of Americans
have no participation in the stock market.
So how did these Trump accounts get the working
and middle classes to participate in the stock market?
So all of these kids,
regardless into what income bracket they're born,
they're gonna have an account, they're gonna watch it.
And their parents, maybe they're part of the 30%
who don't invest in the stock market.
Their parents are gonna say,
hey, we got $1,000 in here, we put a little money in,
suddenly it's $5,000, maybe I should consider doing that.
And with all the discount brokers and things,
it's a fairly easy thing to do.
So I think it will lure parents,
people who don't have investments into the market,
into the market.
And this is great for the economy as a whole.
We're a capital intensive economy.
We don't have enough capital,
mostly because the government,
federal government's pulling $39 trillion
out of capital markets.
So what this will do,
it'll help to create some more capital
and that's good for the economy.
And in terms of Michael and Susan Dell,
what is their involvement in all of this?
This is absolutely marvelous.
This is a classic story of somebody starts something
in his garage with $1,000,
turns it into a multi-billion dollar corporation.
And now that he's got all that money,
what's he to do with it?
Well, he wants to do something
to contribute to the welfare of the country.
He gave over $6 billion that will fund
all of these $1,000 payments to these kids.
So it won't cost the taxpayers one cent.
There are some other people equally,
not quite as generous,
but also generous and have committed
fairly large sums of money to pay for this.
Doesn't hurt the taxpayer a bit.
Well, Michael Dell, truly legendary in that regard then.
His name will be always talked about
funding all these kids.
And who knows, maybe a bunch of these children
become an ex-Michael Dell
and they have that with that $1,000,
the next billionaire.
Michael Bustler, thank you so much
for breaking down Trump accounts.
Always my pleasure.
And President Trump recently issuing
a flurry of warnings against communism,
calling it, quote,
the most serious threat to our country since its founding.
But how are everyday Americans reacting to the warnings?
Indeed, Sam Wong was at the Great American State Fair in DC.
He was talking with the participants.
What does it mean to be an American?
It means I'm not living in communist China
under the heritage of Mao's Red Revolution
or in Stalin's Russia,
where they finally got free from the Soviet communist rule.
Your thoughts on the president's warning against communism?
The way he speaks is truth.
Because you look at other countries
that have accepted socialism
and they're in trouble, they're ruined.
Communism is the greatest scourge
that's been unleashed in the world.
If you believe in personal freedom,
personal rights of ownership, believing in God,
that's the antithesis of what communism is.
Have you seen, there's a meme
where you see the Cubans are leaving New York
because of communism being brought there.
I grew up around communism in other countries.
Well, right now, they're getting a very loud voice.
And unfortunately, our news media
will put a mic in front of them at any time
and let them spew out whatever things they wanna say.
And most of it is not good about this country.
What are the consequences of communism?
If you're on the upper echelon,
you're gonna be just fine.
But the common people are the ones that pay the price.
They're the ones that struggle.
And it's never worked.
Communist efforts are insidious and slow.
And then you find out you have a communist mayor
of New York City,
where they call themselves the Democrat Socialists.
But in the same people,
they're saying they'll seize the means of production.
You look at Cuba, the communist worker's paradise
where everyone is equally poor,
unless you're in the communist leadership of the government
where you're living large.
You can't have anything of value.
You can't own property.
You can't speak freely.
You can't have a government that you can depend on.
And that's the most important thing
because you're just drifting along,
following what other people are dictating.
Google now and see what you come up with.
America has hung on to its freedom
for decades and centuries.
And there's a good chance we could lose everything.
And where will we be?
Hungry for food, hungry, not having religious freedoms.
That's a good warning.
And I hope that America listens.
Microsoft is cutting nearly 5,000 jobs
with the majority of those in its Xbox division.
The layoffs amount to about 2%
of the company's global workforce.
A Microsoft official says the roles
aren't being replaced by artificial intelligence,
but the cuts are in response to how that technology
has impacted the business's practices.
Some employees were let go immediately
while other positions will be eliminated
over the course of the 2027 fiscal year.
In July 2025, Microsoft laid off about 9,000 employees.
And many of you may be planning to stay up late tonight
to witness the U.S. take on Belgium,
but fun summer events like watching the World Cup
can derail your sleep schedule.
And experts say getting those Zs
are a critical part of health year round.
Here's how to enjoy summer
without taking a toll on your sleep.
The days are longer, the nights packed with summer fun.
If your sleep is out of whack, you're not alone.
Your body can go back to a natural circadian rhythm.
It helps though if you prepare a little bit.
Sleep medicine, Dr. Chafin Hart
with National Jewish Health
says having a regular sleep schedule
is just as important, if not more critical,
than the amount of Zs achieved at night.
Not only do people feel better
if they have a regular schedule,
but we also think this decreases their chances
of cardiovascular events later in life and dementia.
Hart says if you're planning to be up later than normal,
try sleep banking.
Take a nap no longer than 30 minutes in the early afternoon
and avoid late heavy meals and alcohol,
which can both impact sleep.
She says limiting caffeine use is also important.
Avoid it after midday.
The caffeine might help you stay up late,
but you'll still feel more tired the next day.
You may have a hard time falling asleep
if you've just done something exciting.
So Hart says before turning in, decompress a bit.
Take time to relax the brain and body
before trying to go to sleep.
And even if you're tired,
she says the best thing you can do
is wake up within 30 minutes of the time you normally do.
It can help keep your brain's sleep schedule on track.
Finally, if you're losing sleep this summer,
don't stress about it.
Don't worry if you have a night or two
where you don't get enough sleep.
You'll make up for it.
It will be okay and you'll get back on track.
Family advice from Dr. Hart.

I was a young dad of three amazing kids.
I was finally following my dream.
Just when you feel like life is starting to come together,
you get kind of hit in the face.
I was born with a congenital heart defect
and had open-heart surgery as a kid.
I was supposed to go to the heart doctor once a year,
and I finally went.
He listened to my heart, and I'll never forget,
he sat back and he said,
yeah, it's time for open-heart surgery.
Or you risk your aorta rupturing, and that's it.
I was scared out of my mind.
The night before my open-heart surgery,
I made a goodbye video for my kids.
Be strong, take care of your mom.
I love you guys.
Seeing all the kids hug him goodbye
and hoping that they were gonna be able to hug him again.
But I did make it,
thanks to the work of the American Heart Association.
So that's why I'm asking you to join me.
Please call now or go to helpheart.org.
For only $19 a month, just 63 cents a day,
you can help get the next person trained in CPR,
get the next hospital certified
in high-quality cardiovascular care,

like these heart valves that helped save my life.
When you give $19 a month with your credit card,
we'll send you this special T-shirt
to show you're a part of our community of monthly donors.
I'm most grateful that I get to have a husband
that I get to grow old with,
and a husband that gets to be there for his children.
I believe without the American Heart Association,
I would not be here today.
If this can happen to me, it can happen to you.
It can happen to anybody.
Your donation can literally help save a life.
Please call the number on your screen
or go to helpheart.org now to become a monthly donor.
Now for your sports news,
we're joined by NTD's Dave Martin.
Dave, there's some NBA news,
but of course we gotta kick off with the World Cup.
The U.S. is gonna be starting just about an hour from now.
All the story is, of course, on striker Fuller and Balligan.
He was not gonna play, now he is gonna play.
A lot of controversy, but I don't care he's playing,
so what do you got for us?
Yeah, it's funny.
Of course, this whole thing,
well, it started with Balligan's red card,
but the whole appeal started with a phone call
from President Trump to FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Trump said he did not agree with the red card
that was called on Balligan.
I mean, like a lot of us.
Asked if it could be reviewed.
Infantino then had FIFA's independent
judicial body review it.
Now, afterwards, the board decided to lift
the automatic one-game suspension
that comes with the red guard,
making Balligan eligible to play tonight.
Now, Belgium, with U.S. plays tonight,
requested an explanation.
FIFA ruled their request was inadmissible
because they had no grounds for an appeal.
FIFA further stated that the chairperson
of the FIFA Appeal Committee, that's Neil Eggleston,
was not involved in the decision since he is an American.
Now, Balligan was given a red card in last week's win
over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In addition to the one-game suspension, though,
your team also has to play shorthanded the rest of the game
because they can't submit anyone in to replace you.
It's a very brutal punishment there.
But there are five possible reasons you can get a red card.
I'm just gonna jump to the one that seems the most likely.
The excessive force used while tackling.
Now, of course, I disagree with that interpretation
on that Balligan play.
I certainly wasn't the only one.
It appeared he was running just a half-step
behind the other player when the other player
slowed just a bit to make a play on the ball.
And that's when they collided.
Balligan appeared to step on his foot.
It looked painful.
It looked like a yellow card at most.
But now that all that is cleared up,
U.S. will play Belgium 8 p.m. tonight
with Balligan in the starting lineup, presumably.
I'm sure they're gonna start him.
He's their leading scorer.
If you're Belgium or you just like to root against the U.S.,
of course, you're gonna be upset
about Balligan getting to play.
But at the end of the day,
you want the best players on the field.
You don't want any asterisks next to your win.
Well, we want the best players on the field.
I'll say that.
You know, I really want the best call.
I will say I had never heard of FIFA's
independent judicial body that could overturn this.
My understanding was that
if it's anything more than a one-game suspension,
then you can appeal it.
I had never heard that you could appeal
just the one game that's an automatic with it.
So this is kind of a new thing anyway,
but it sounds like it's within the rules.
All right, well, all will be revealed shortly.
They start the game in just about an hour now.
So it's single elimination here.
It's March Madness in July.
It's very exciting.
Yeah, I have no idea what to expect tonight,
of course, with Belgium, no matter what.
I mean, they had that great escape in that last game.
What, they were down 2-0, 85 minutes in,
somehow forced overtime and won it there.
So either way, the U.S. has their hands full tonight.
Well, and let's talk about the earlier game.
Ronaldo, a legend, knocked out
by his Iberian neighbors over in Spain.
What do you make of that game?
Yeah, the 41-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo
announced that this would be his last World Cup.
His team was eliminated by Spain this afternoon,
and they won nothing lost.
Now, this game was scoreless for the first 90 minutes
until Spain's Mikel Mourinho broke free for a goal.
Just as stoppage time began,
the game ended maybe five or seven minutes later.
So Spain advances to their first quarterfinal appearance
at the World Cup since 2010.
They will play the winner of tonight's
U.S. versus Belgium game.
Now, for Ronaldo, he had three goals in this World Cup,
put together 11 in his career.
That is the ninth most all-time.
Of course, Messi now with the most,
with 20, killing Mbappe right behind him with 19, so.
No doubt a legend, Ronaldo, great to see.
But I'll tell you, you played it for me
at least three times.
That Spanish goal, very much a give-and-go,
something that in the NBA we're very accustomed to.
Giannis, two-time MVP with the Bucs,
he's leaving master of the give-and-go.
Yeah, Giannis Adedokunmo here,
that blockbuster trade, seems like it was two weeks ago
we reported that between the Bucs and the Heat.
Posted a social media today saying goodbye to Milwaukee,
saying how much he loves the city.
He played there for 13 years.
Now, Adedokunmo won MVPs in 2019 and 2020
before leading the Bucs to an NBA championship in 2021,
where he was named finals MVP.
But Milwaukee had not won a playoff series
in the last four years of this offseason.
The Bucs agreed to trade the 31-year-old Adedokunmo
to Miami in a six-player trade.
Miami also sent their first-round pick
in this year's draft, plus two additional first-round picks,
two additional second-round picks, and a pick swap.
So they gave up a whole lot to bring Giannis in
to team with, I don't know, Bam Adebayo and company.
So that could be, looks like a pretty good team
they've got down in Miami, for sure.
So Giannis brings his talents to South Beach
while we await to see where LeBron will bring his talent.
Yeah, well, I mean, it's a possibility
LeBron decides to join them, actually,
because, you know, I think that was a possibility.
Even coming back to Cleveland for a third time
was listed as a possibility, by his agent, anyway.
Of course, I think his agent wants to get
as many teams bidding as possible,
I'm sure, to drive up the price.
But, I don't know, I think for LeBron,
he's gonna go wherever he has a good chance
of winning a title, probably.
Well, a lot to look out for there.
Dave Martin, always fun.
Thanks for joining.
Thank you, Kerry.
And a small plane flying over New York City's East River
had a close call in the air,
and then an unexpected touchdown in the water.
Here's a look at those dramatic moments.
Tense moments over the airwaves
after a sea plane loaded with passengers
made a hard landing in New York City's East River.
Just moments before, video captured the small plane
coming startlingly close to an NYPD chopper in the air.
And moments later, video from inside the plane
showed the jarring landing as it came down in the water
between Manhattan and Brooklyn,
where officials quickly responded.
Approaching, looks like the pilot is okay.
I can't tell if there's any more passengers.
The FDNY says a total of eight people
were helped off the plane.
Two reportedly suffered minor injuries.
It's unclear what led to the hard landing,
but the FAA says it caused a wing strut to snap.
Another unsettling exchange over the airways
captured the moment a Delta flight inbound to Chicago
was reportedly struck by a firework on July 4th.
Tower, we just had a firework hit our plane.
We're just hoping it was just the mortar
that went off underneath,
but definitely felt a big bang.
Delta said the plane, which was inbound from Atlanta,
landed safely with no reported injuries.
Air traffic controllers said there had been
multiple reports of similar incidents
and that local officials had been notified.
No word on if the incident
was the result of fireworks foul play
or just 4th of July friendly fire,
but the FAA is investigating.
Finally, one last trip ended not with a bang,
but a very big splash as locals in Hawaii
gave a moonlit hero's welcome to rower Kelsey Fendler,
who completed a 2,400 mile rowing trip
from California to Honolulu.
Fendler completed the journey in just 43 days,
which if confirmed would make her
a new world record holder.
And that's all for today's news,
but keep it here on MTV, Capitol Report coming up next.
Thanks for watching.
I'm Kerry Dunst, good night.
