New bow day.
Super exciting to get a new Matthews bow always.
I've had this on order for months, long time.
Long time this year to get bows
because the lift takes a lot longer
to manufacture than past bows.
And they have been selling a pile of them
because you guys love the bow and it's a fantastic bow.
So combination of that, the times are incredible.
I know a lot of you guys have been saying that, complaining.
I've been complaining too.
I've been barking down their doors about this bow
in particular, because typically I always get the short bow
and the long bow and I like to set them up both.
But here we are.
Lift 33.
I forget what color I even got.
Got a free hat.
And accessories are falling out as we're pulling this up.
Wow.
We got earth.
Earth with black limbs.
Okay, I remember now.
Let's see what else we got in here.
Oh, I forgot about these two.
This is exciting.
I thought they were going to send this separate.
We got some target bars, 18 inch target bars.
So we're going to get kind of fun and creative with this,
this setup and this bow.
Obviously a 33 being a longer actual axle bow
shoots more like a target bow, a little more forgiving,
got a longer riser.
So a little slower because of that,
but nonetheless, really sick setup
that hopefully we can get dialed in
with some longer stabilizers for funsies
that are technically target stabilizers.
So we're going to set this bad boy up.
We're going to start,
we'll just start bolting everything onto it.
Nothing new.
It's still a lift.
We do not have the silent connect system installed,
which is totally fine.
We don't, I don't really suspect myself hunting with this.
I might take it to attack or something,
but I just, I like the smaller bows, 29, 29 and a half,
30 inch bow.
30 inch bow is really my optimal bow length.
I feel like that's what I like,
but we'll see if maybe this one changes my tune.
If a 30 inch, 33 inch bow tickles my fancy.
I don't even know if we're going to use this at all.
We might use it for the back bar.
We're going to kind of experiment a little bit with this bow.
See what feels good.
See what feels right.
We have a rest.
Imagine that.
And here we've got a side bracket.
Always cut towards yourself, kids.
We don't want that bolt.
We want this bolt right here.
Screw this right in.
And if you've watched my old bow videos before,
of course there's one hard edge on these side angle brackets,
which fits right alongside the riser.
And this is my one input,
my one credit I get for approving ground bow.
I'll show you this bow.
This bow, this was V3.
This was also a 31, 33, 32, something like that.
And right here, you can see that it is not a flat edge.
It's super rounded right here.
And you can even see the little indents.
There's a little blem right there
and a little blem right there.
And I tried to mount the side bracket on them.
I'm like, hmm, it's like,
what if we just made that completely flat right there?
So we got a completely flat connection.
And then Matthew's boys are like, we can do that.
So from then on, all the production bows of the V3
in that year and continuing right there is completely flat.
So we got a perfect connection point.
So the proving ground bows that year,
there actually was a difference in the V3.
So I'll take credit for that.
I will say, but that's the only thing ever
I'll take credit for when it comes to a Matthew's bow.
So we got that.
No, it's not tight yet.
We need the big honking wrench.
So you need to tighten down on this.
Okay, that is good and tight.
Make sure we got our stop.
Next, next, next, next, next.
I guess next, let's do the slider.
That's fun.
Brand new UB slider going in.
UB sliders are also available on B-Real Custom Gear
as well as, that's probably loud,
B-Real Custom Gear, as well as UltraView Archery.
B-Real Custom only has a BridgeLock version.
UltraView has all the versions.
And we are like in stock shipping all the time now.
We're done with our back order,
finally caught up with the extreme demand.
We had to really grow internally for UltraView
to meet that demand.
So we feel very fortunate and blessed
to have such awesome customers and viewers,
which is you guys.
Thank you for watching and supporting the cause.
Here we go.
New UltraView slider.
New one is always so satisfying.
There we go.
New slider, ready to rip.
That goes right into the bow.
I like running my sliders all the way in.
I know in the past I have chopped off this section.
I might do that in the future.
But right now we're just gonna run it
with the closest end, just like that.
Okay, next, B-Real Grip.
Take that grip off.
And then really important that we get
all of this stickiness off.
If you get a B-Real Grip
and do not take this stickiness off,
you very well are going to permanently attach
that grip to your bow.
And then one day, you're gonna wanna take it off
to go swap it around or look at it or whatever.
And then you're gonna email us at B-RealCustom.com
and say, hey, I broke my grip.
Ain't that right, Andrew?
I wonder why you broke your grip.
Because you forgot to take off this
and you had a ream on it to get it off.
Just playing fun.
I accidentally have done that before, too.
Okay, so there we go.
Completely clean and free of any stickiness.
And boom, B-Real Grip.
Look at that, look at that, look at that,
look at that thing right there.
Guess we should maybe open up one of the target ones.
We're probably gonna run this in the front.
This is an 18-inch, jeez.
18-inch target rod.
It's a big horse, jeez.
I wanted it to be about 15.
But what's so nice about this
is I can just run it in a little bit.
Probably about what I want.
Probably just want a 12-inch on the side.
We'll do that, we'll start with that.
We're gonna shift some weight around.
Bump this out.
Starting point that I really love
is put it at four and four.
These little margins right here.
We'll do four, four.
That at least gives me a good starting point.
It's about where I end up with them anyways
if I mess around with them.
But maybe with this bow,
maybe we'll mess around with it a little bit more.
This is gonna kind of be a hybrid.
A lot of guys, especially if you have
like a 29-plus inch drawing,
run a longer bow than also do leagues
or also do tack or want a more stable platform.
One bow does it all.
This definitely could be that setup,
and that's kind of what I wanted to achieve here.
It's like, what if I got some longer target rods?
I only have a 12 in the back,
but I have an 18 in the front,
but I'm gonna do 15 is what I wanted.
Just fine, maybe I'll mess around with it a little bit more.
But then, it's kind of a target rig,
kind of a hunting rig, kind of a hybrid rig.
So we're going to swap our weights out.
We're building the plane as we're flying, I like to say.
Let's do four.
Let's take one off four.
Let's do three.
We'll do three, because it's in a little way,
I think it's technically one.
That off, this on.
That gold and earth actually looks pretty dope.
That's a lot of weight, too.
I might end up changing that around.
Like I said, that ratio is just a starting point.
It's all about feel, how it feels.
In the shot, apple girl, all the above.
Stabilizers are one of those crazy, controversial things,
but that is a big bow, big stabilizers, big bow.
Okay, we got the rest on now.
We got the sight, we got the stabilizers.
Now, what is left to do is we're going to mark center shot.
Kind of been liking doing it this way recently.
Let's put this bad boy in.
It tells us exactly where the center of the rest is,
and the rest is on zero and zero right now.
Oh, this didn't come pre-installed with the masking up.
Okay, right there, get a silver sharpie.
Just gonna put a little line right there.
Gets us a very good rough starting point,
or not rough, it's pretty exact.
It really shouldn't vary from that at all.
If anything, we'll bump it on just the higher side of that.
Thanks to QAD, I have so many of these three Allen wrenches
just floating around always.
Okay, very good.
That is all set.
We have our knocking point.
We got a Hansi Raptor Pete 316s,
which is pretty much what I run 100% of the time.
Little guy right there.
So, we'll want to put this in before we do our tie-in.
Sometimes I forget that, but I'm not gonna forget this time.
I'm gonna do that because it does
twist the string up a little bit.
We got our little blue string in here for our true center.
A little optical illusion.
Quick and dirty.
What we're gonna do is we're gonna take an old bow.
This is a different axle than this bow,
so it'll be slightly different,
and I do want to run it a little bit higher based on that.
So, we'll keep it right there probably.
But that's at least where it's straight, too,
so that's perfect.
Okay, now what we're gonna do
is we're gonna do our notch set.
What arrows should we do with this?
Kind of want to do our super light arrows.
Heavy arrows are out, light arrows are in.
Also, if you haven't seen the sweet new Benchmade
that you can pick up on Matthews, the Matthews Benchmade.
Great little shop knife.
A little bit of knock wiggle wiggle in there.
I'm gonna get it almost on out.
Just cut my bowstring real quick, that'll be fun.
Perfect little melted D-loop.
It's coming together really nice.
We got our D-loop just in the right,
or our peepsight just in line just right with our D-loop.
Got a brand new D-loop on here.
Wait until it dries.
Perfect little D-loop.
I'm gonna check the knock bit, I'm not gonna change.
A little swap in there, and we're good.
All we're gonna do right now
is we're gonna do our main tie on our peepsight
so that it doesn't fling out and hit us in the forehead.
But I don't want to do my top and my bottom knots yet
because I don't know if this is the final resting place.
Okay, peepsight, D-loop.
Now we need the rest cord installed.
All right.
Coming together nicely.
Might be a good shooting bow actually.
So what we want to do is,
my rest cord, a quick and dirty way to do it
is you just pull it back.
So I'm gonna pull it back with the poundage meter.
Oh, let's see what the poundage is at also.
We're at it.
And as I pull, the slack will get pulled out
and it'll be in the right position.
Peepsight's definitely to come down a little bit.
Okay, what I like to do for the rest cord,
I'll tie it around like that,
kind of put a knot on itself.
And I'll cut it and burn it.
Just like a D-loop.
And this time I do like kind of smash it
because it's not taking on a lot of force.
I just don't want it to move.
I'll snug it tight a little bit.
And we'll double check our rest timing a little bit.
But I do, just pulling it back a little bit,
I do want this down a little bit more.
So I'm gonna do about like that.
I don't know.
I'd have to double check which way the peep is turned.
It's definitely turned one way, I forgot.
Okay, rest, done.
Peepsight, not done.
But before we do that,
we're gonna check our timing real quick.
So also tell me which way my peepsight's turning.
It's turning way right.
Yep, timing's way off too.
That's good, check that.
Okay, so we'll take like a twist out the top.
Third time a charm.
Timing's good.
Rest, rest is fully engaged right there.
And that's full draw.
Okay, let's shoot this thing through paper.
I think we're to the point,
and I think I am gonna shoot these.
What are these BFs?
XF, extreme velocity.
Rip, extreme velocity.
Okay, first shot through paper.
Eyeballed it, kept it at zero and zero.
Timing is right.
Let's just see.
Perfecto.
The one shot bullet hole.
Might be a touch, but that is good enough for me.
We'll shoot it a bunch.
You know, I always, we get it super close like this,
and then you gotta shoot it for several,
several hundred arrows and double check.
But first shot bullet hole, up to 33.
I think that's good luck with it.
Do it one more time.
I don't know, that might be perfect, actually.
Bang, you're perfect.
Might be the easiest arrow, or not arrow build,
bow build ever.
We have this new Garmin that we've been messing with.
It's fantastic, and literally, for my shop at least,
I can just leave it just like this on this little heel bow.
Enter weight, 351, especially 351.
Bow alignment, and here we go.
I mean, it's just so easy.
Plug it into a USB type C.
Light bulb.
321.
So, still really fast.
I mean, for under, you know, sub 80 pounds,
the other bow that I set up for these arrows,
we were getting 340, but that was at 82 pounds.
Shorter axle, axle a little faster, about 80 to 80 speeds.
So, 321, pretty damn solid.
Stabilizers feel really good, too.
Like that.
It's not touching the rest, is it?
No.
But we have like two millimeters?
Yeah.
I love that.
319.8.
What was our previous one?
321?
Mm-hmm.
It's one feet per second different.
I kind of shot that one off to the side, too.
That's the thing about this Garmin, too,
is we can shoot, I shot this arrow like,
oh, can you pick it up?
I think ideally it's right over top,
but I'll do my second axis real quick.
And my scope is slightly off, so now what do I do?
I'm gonna do so.
Second axis dialed in,
so we'll tighten that back down,
and then we'll check our third.
Perfect.
And my third axis is not perfect.
Looks money.
I'll tighten it back down.
It's super easy if you got the right jig.
This little Hamski third leveler works really good.
Third axis is good.
I'm just gonna double check second.
Okay.
Now, we can go outside and shoot.
Okay, 20 yards.
Shooting from inside,
because it is terribly windy out there.
Okay, a little tall.
Left, and a little low.
Good height, just enough so.
Nice.
This bow feels like a target bow.
It's wild.
Very, very steady.
Nice.
That's a good shot.
That felt so good.
Right in the middle.
Big fan of these arrows.
Nice.
There are maybe a couple clicks left.
But all our elevation's really good.
I think we got a 20-yard mark.
Again, this is kind of quick and dirty.
We still wanna double check
and do all of our sight tape stuff.
But 20-yard mark, good.
Now, we can put our setup tape on here.
Right-hand tapes.
One through 20.
I don't think these are gonna need speed tapes.
Or I think we're right on the edge.
We're probably gonna end up
with sight tape number one or two.
So, over on this side,
we're gonna line up that mark.
So, now what we gotta do,
we'll shoot at 60, get sighted in for 60.
We'll know our sight tape number,
throw it on, and we're good to go.
We got a single pin on there right now,
so we don't gotta adjust our three pins or anything.
Really like how this bow feels right now.
Very, very good.
I'm gonna guess that this is sight tape number one.
Should be close.
It is nearly hurricane winds.
Punch the crap out of that release just to get it on.
Hey, it's a 10.
I think I was a little low.
We might need a fast tape on this.
We'll shoot it, though, from inside at our target.
Sorry, I'm not blowing east coast to west coast.
60 yards, back inside.
There's less wind for me,
but all the same wind for the other.
Dead nuts in the middle.
That was perfect.
Sight tape number one.
Love that.
Just above it.
Boom.
Top of the dot.
I got a really good group at the top of the dot.
Top of the dot.
So yeah, that's kind of this high group.
I only had one low one, so I'll just shoot one more time.
I think my last one was one of these high ones right here.
So I don't know.
Really good shooting, though.
I'm still super pumped.
I love these arrows.
I know I've talked about it in the past couple videos,
but for doing target stuff and pack stuff,
I really like these.
Got a great group down there.
That flew funky with the wind.
Yeah, I'm gonna have to probably,
I'm gonna have to do is double check this sight tape
when the wind stops being a psycho.
But for right now, I think I'm gonna put on sight tape,
speed tape, speed tape, not sight tape, speed tape.
Number negative two.
Right at 60.
Metal pin, right at 60.
And we got ourselves some rough sight tape.
That's definitely gonna have to double check
when we get some better wind and better conditions.
So double check that sort of stuff in.
But fun bow build.
I've been waiting on this bow for a long time, like I said.
Definitely going to be a tac driver.
Gonna be a great target rig.
I mean, you could of course hunt with this.
Maybe I will in the future.
I don't know.
We'll have to see.
The custom, or no, they're not custom,
but the target bars, they are available through Matthews.
They do not come with the hunting bow,
so you kind of got a special view.
Target bars, but if you want some longer ones,
this is a 18 inch option.
You can bring it all the way in,
like I did to probably right around 15.
Ended up with one, two, three, four, five,
six weights in the back, six ounces in the back,
three in the front.
So that's that perfect two to one ratio.
Super fast.
We had a one shot bullet hole.
Honestly, one of the easier bows and setups
that I've tuned,
one shot bullet hole doesn't happen all the time,
and they're flying fantastic.
They're grouping super well,
and if we didn't have this crazy wind,
we probably would be doing very, very good.
So, fast, feels really good, super stable.
I really like this 33.
I really don't.
You know, I've built 33s before,
or the longer version of bows,
and really haven't stuck with them.
Just a 28, 28 and a half inch draw length.
It's really not my cup of tea,
but I really, I don't know.
Maybe I'll see me shoot more of this bow.
Thank you so much for watching.
Hope you enjoyed,
and we will catch you guys in the next one.
Wow, that was hard.
